Oh, my Lord, my God, I thank You and praise Your Holy name for giving us salvation through Jesus Christ, Your only Son. We now have a great High Priest who prays for us, who intercedes on our behalf. He sympathizes with us in our weaknesses because He was tempted just as we are, yet He did not sin. So now, we can go to the throne of grace in confidentiality and receive mercy and grace to endure whatever we face (Hebrews 4: 15-16). Thank You Yahweh! Praise Your Holy name through Jesus Christ our Savior!
I am so thankful that God doesn't give up on me! He who began a good work in me will continue to do so until the day of Christ Jesus!
The DA Carson quote is powerful, and shows us what Hebrews is up to: we must have a high view of Jesus’ majesty and fear Him so that we will train and discipline our daily lives to become more like Him, with the equipping of the Spirit.
I am SO grateful for this year in the word. 2023 wasn’t easy, but I have seen such blessing in the midst of trials. I cannot wait to do this again in 2024. He IS where the joy is.

Your reading on how we drift or wander away from our goodness reminds me that one of the laws of thermodynamics states that all things drift toward disorder and it takes energy to maintain order in nature. Your reading of this was very poetic and touched me at the core.
God in three persons. Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Mankind is also triune. Body, soul, and spirit. Holy Spirit inhabits our spirit and constantly woos our soul and flesh to hear and obey God’s Word. We win as we surrender our will to His. The benefit is eternal!
I look at it this way; once your name is written in the book of life, it doesn't get erased. Jesus doesn't write in pencil. It's all permanent ink for him.

Hebrews 6:7, "Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God." May my life be like this land- drinking in God's rain & producing a crop. May I be diligent to the very end so that what I hope for may be fully realized (Hebrews 6:11).
2 of the easiest things that come to me are justification and procrastination. That isn't what my heart wants, but the flesh. God help me to put my my faith and hope in Jesus!!!! Thank you TLC for all you do.

TLC, thank you for addressing 6:4-8. I so worry that I'm one whose heart hasn't been transformed. I've received a lot of good rain but haven't really produced much for God. I believe in Jesus and was "saved" at 16 but I haven't lived much of my life like a "good" Christian. I get that I'm a sinful human but If my heart were truly changed and I had the Holy Spirit in me, why do I still do things that aren't pleasing to God? I struggle with this. I pray that through this Bible study and those to come, that God will transform my heart and soften it, the Holy Spirit will dwell in me, that I'll have a better relationship with God and become more pleasing to him.
The fact that you care about your spiritual condition is a sign that you are one of God's children...that the Holy Spirit can speak to you and convict you of sin and guide you closer to God. Keep seeking Him!🙏 Keep reading God's Word.📖 Keep growing!🪴 You'll soon know Him better and find that it's true~ He's where the joy is!💜

I’ve often struggled with this… and it is true that Godly conviction, dialogue with God and asking for forgiveness and Gods help in our struggle, is proof that the spirit is in you. We will never be complete until the day of completion. Our relationship with God is a personal one, and a journey we travel with Him, and it doesn’t look like anyone else’s. Continue to praise God for conviction, for grace and mercy in your struggles and for power over your sinful nature. Thank Him for the work he has done, admit your weakness apart from him, and pray for his continued power of refinement of your heart. God Bless

Personally, I don't hold to the once-saved-always-saved doctrine. I believe that God in his sovereignty has given us humans free will. And I believe it's entirely possible for genuine Christians to walk away from God if they choose. And if they walk far enough away, and if they deny him - and then die in that state of denial - how can they be saved? I know this doesn't fit with some people's theology, but I believe it's biblical. There are just too many verses that warn about it.
My testimony is this: I was raised in the Church. I was saved at a very young age. In my teens and twenties, I was alive in Christ and as zealous as a person could be for God. I have no doubt about my salvation at that point. I served in leadership roles until I was in my thirties. Then I got deeply hurt in my personal life and gradually, over the years, drifted away. I fell into sin, started listening to people who were down on religion, and eventually declared myself to be an atheist. I believe that if I had continued in that way and had died unrepentant, that I would have been forever lost. THANK GOD THE GOOD SHEPHERD RESCUED THIS LOST LITTLE SHEEP!!! 🐑😊❤️ (I reflect on this often and weep.)
But now, having said all that, I do think that we should read the warning of Hebrews 6 in context. Church Fathers tell us the book of Hebrews was written in the 60s AD to the Hebrew priests who were serving in the temple. Some were thinking about accepting Jesus as Messiah and others basically believed, but did not want to stop being priests. I think Paul was warning them that after having witnessed firsthand Jesus' life, ministry, and miracles that fulfilled Old Testament prophecies - "having tasted the heavenly gift" - they could not continue in their Pharisee or Saducee ways. If they did, they would be destroyed. The old system was over. They were being warned that they only had a few years to make a decision or one would be made for them. If they didn't convert to Christianity soon, they would be burned. And that's exactly what happened in 70 AD - the great temple in Jerusalem was burned and destroyed. All the Christians had already moved out of town to Pella (they were warned through prophecy) but all the Jews who rejected the Messiah and held to the old ways and fought the Romans were either killed or taken into captivity.
(Note: I owe much of my information about Hebrews to Dr. Ken Johnson, author of Ancient Order of Melchizedek. I really like what he says:) "Today we should take to heart that same warning. We only have a few years before the tribulation starts. We all must make a decision to accept the Messiah’s free gift of salvation while we are still able to do so."

I just can’t comprehend why God gives satan any authority over us to slip us up.
Everything is for His glory.
Just a thought, Hebrew. 2:9, 6:4, 5, all these verses use the word taste/ tasted in the Greek, #1089: primary verb; to taste; by implication to eat; figuratively to experience (good or ill): - eat taste. Just as Jesus tasted death (died)
For it impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have TASTED of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, [5] and have TASTED the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come...
These have once TASTED, they were saved, just as Jesus was once dead. As I said, just a thought.

I agree, I'm not of the once saved always saved camp, There's constant scripture warnings about holding on to the faith
Hello can you please explain to me how Hebrews 6:4 affects me… I was once saved at 19 but eventually fell away into new age doctrines and unbelief. I came to a place i didn’t know if a Jesus was real … 7 months ago after many many years in the new age, I came back to God only to discover these verses but no one has given me a straight answer on what they mean and how they pertain to my circumstances. Can you PLEASE help me . Thank you 🙏
@dawnalaia9984 God loves you and has drawn you back to him - welcome back! 🤗❤️ The Good Shepherd left the 99 and came and found you. The same thing happened to me, except I had become an atheist. I denied Christ, but he forgave me when I repented. Please read my other comment here in this same thread. It explains what I believe is the context for the whole book of Hebrews (it was written to the Jewish priests still serving in the temple) and why chapter 6 doesn't mean you can't be restored to God. ❤️
I've never noticed how verse 5:7 says, "In the days of His flesh, Jesus..." I've never liked it when people say Christians are to be "like Jesus with skin on" because Jesus has his own skin - it's literally the point of Jesus 😂 But this verse does point to what TLC has been saying all along - that Jesus is throughout scripture. I still don't like people saying that... because if for no other reason, he didn't have the name "Jesus" until he had skin on. 🤷🏻♀️
