- What I thought would be a lovely and relaxing wild camping experience high above the Pacific Ocean in Big Sur turned into quite the adventure. There were a few moments during the wee hours of the morning where I contemplated if my little tent would hold up and keep me dry. Luckily, my Big Agnes Fly Creek Ultralight 2 person tent lived up to the hype. Thank you camping gods! ;) Enjoy the adventure!!!

Downloaded for my 3.5 hour bus ride tomorrow!
Hope it was worth it ;)
What an adventurous and daring experience! Wild camping on Big Sur's stormy cliff overlooking the Pacific must have been both thrilling and awe-inspiring. The power of nature in such conditions is humbling. Thanks for sharing this exciting journey with us!
Yes it was! Am still impressed my 5+ year old Big Agnes held up with no leaks.
I really love these micro adventures of yours! Just short weekend trips to the most beautiful places! Keep them coming!
PS so that’s where my lighter went 😂
Thanks my dude….you might need to be a new lighter 😅
Beautiful scenery, but I would never be able to sleep in that kind of storm! Thanks for taking the "adventure" for us!
I've always been curious what backpacking in Big Sur would be like. Thanks for filming/sharing! Gorgeous views and glad you stayed relatively dry, all things considered.
Epic! I absolutely loved this! Up until this date, I've never camped near the ocean like that, but I've wanted to for a long time. That looked like a really fun adventure, and it was fun to listen to the story from your new friend.
Fantastic adventure Scott. I'm glad I discovered your channel through the Grand Canyon hike with Harmen. Thats what I call an adventure mate. Incredible shots!
Welcome aboard! Glad you enjoyed it :)
The place you went to it was really beautiful. It has a view of light green grass. And a lot of stuff makes me want to go.
Awesome hiking and camping spot, hope you had a wonderful time Scott, one suggestion - while showing the entire panoramic view - it was repeatedly done and going a fit faster, i think if its slow while trying to show the entire landscape that would be really great, Keep Hiking Bro!
Great suggestion! Would go back tomorrow this was a great spot!
“Timber Top Trail…” WOW.
Awesome pitch site Scott. Good too to see that your tent made it through without any issues. Reminiscent of a WildBeare Claire adventure.
🙏
Nice video, looked like a great spot to camp. Have you ever done Cone Peak? If not, I'd highly recommend it, 5000 feet above the coastline
Next time! I had other trips planned but this storm arrived when I got there…maybe this fall :)
"... first time camping in rain .." hmmn. You must not get into the Midwest much. Great video, Scott. Glad you were dry.
I don’t!😅 would love to visit though!
Amazing adventure video. Thanks for sharing. 👍28
Thank you :)
What an adventure!!! I got caught in the rain last year when I was camping at Big Sur Statepark campground and I had to leave the campground in the middle of the night because everything was soaked but what an adventure! I’m glad you are safe. I am planning to backpack Big Sur, what is the name of this route you took? Happy Trails!
Oh wow! It can really come down out there. This was the Timber Top Trail 🤙
whats the song that plays in the beginning the lyrics arent being found on google ?
I would love to hit this trail on a backpacking trip. It’s called Timber Top Trail? Can’t find the trail head… on maps
When in the area, stop at the Big Sur Station - the rangers are excellent and will share the exact trailhead location. It’s unmarked, with limited parking.
❤🫡
hi scott, i live in the bay area and was always discouraged to camp in Big Sur by the complex and crowded reservation system at Big Sur. M curious, was this a regular campsite reservation that you long booked online or do they allow backpacking with wilderness permits or something?
No permit required for this area as it’s BLM land….i was surprised to find such a beautiful location where camping was permit-free!
