Exactly what I did in my fight against him, just finished yesterday and what a trip that game was. Killing him with pure skill and timed dodges, blade against blade, no Estus and just the two of us. I wouldn’t have it any other way
Ikr it kinda pisses me off when I see everybody parry him. I don't mind it in challenges or speedruns, but in a normal playthrough it kinda feels cheap and you miss out on the fun of the fight.
@@souperchicken9395 In my opinion the final boss is not supposed to be triumphant and epic, it was designed to be sad, more like a pity kill. He is just a husk. He does the same thing the entire fight which is why he is extremely easy to parry. I don't see it as "cheap".
I feel like the only way to have a chance with him is by fighting him naked or with extremely light armor. Unless your equipment load is through the roof

That reminds me of the time I was fighting the abyss watchers and in the middle was a goat guy with a spear and shield. He either somehow entered the boss room or he is the true abyss watcher.

Not exactly, the reason most people die to gwyn is because they got greedy with parries, if you can beat O&S regularly you can do this, of course it may take a few attempts and you have to get extremely good to get this far, sure gwyn does a ton of damage but once you know his moves he fairly easy in fact, even at SL1, I should know, I've done it. (Also let's be honest every move would have been a one shot the no hit part was required) of course it is difficult but not as difficult as most would think

gwyn no parry is the HARDEST boss in the game. harder than the dlc bosses, oreo and s’more, capra demon, 4 kings. he is relentless. and i love it, every time i fight him, it’s a no party attempt. I really wish miyazaki had made him unparriable from the start
My first (and favorite) souls game was Sekiro. After beat Sekiro i start do play DS1 and when i was fighting Gwyn i finally understood why people complains so much about parry in this game. It's overpower,yes, but is also fun fighting using parry since street fighter 3... so parry this damn Lord rs Good fight though!

This boss is actually quite hard on ng+5,6,7 because he 1 shots you..and he is really fast in terms of moveset. I refuse to parry him. It ruins the experience
Brian Cooley I did a sl1 no pyromancy run and when I got to Gwyn I did not parry (mainly because I suck at parrying). By the time you beat this fight, that dodge should come natural.
He reminds me of pursuer from DS2 in a certain way. You can realize it in his attack pattern. Maybe it is just some random familiarities, or maybe it is an encarnation of himself

Map design is shit too, only majula and ivory king dlc looks attractive to the eye. In ds1 whole map felt connected, while in ds2 it feels like the map was flushed in the toilet then put together in random order. Majority of players agree that it's bad game and easily the worst souls game. Liking it for sole reason of being a contrarian doesn't make you elitist, it only shows how poor your taste in games is.

Totally agree. There's something so grandiose and pretentious about Elden Ring combat, it just feels so imbalanced. You always feel like an underdog because you can't do those ten move combos on the boss like that, and even if you could, they would certainly just tank it and tear you apart anyway. But in this game, you feel like a genuine equal to Gwyn, and all the humanoids that have come before him like the Black Knights. His kit is simple, like yours, and comprehensible. It feels like the game has recognized you as a demigod simply because the final boss is on your level. And it doesn't throw random bullshit at you in the final hour, it allows you to claim what you earned. I love DS1. ❤
Remember the lighthing is the element of gwyn he used it against the dragons, the tittle: lord of cinder is just after he linked the fire to save his world from the dark, un Ds3 the soul of cinder is resistant to fire but weak to dark element
You mean to tell me... gwyn can kill dragons, has godly power owns a kingdom and and is a beast at combat... but he cant kill a shribbled up naked mad with a club.
And not mistaking his sweeping combo at 1:18 for the jump attack, that will hurt. The thrust also has a lingering hitbox that can catch you from my experience. The arena is also not very large so he can catch you near a wall or stalagmite if you're not careful. Not quite as easy as you say but not that bad either.
I love how there's no epic cutscene, no grandiouse final speech, no final realization. Just you versus dead god with piano in the background

You are a true master if you are able to beat Gwyn with those requirements mentioned, especially at higher NG+ levels.

This looks so easy compared to the newer fromsoft games. I like this way better then infinite combos and 5 second delayed attacks.
Yes, it's simpler, but you are hindered with slower movement and healing. So I found that it's still harder than it looks
