- This started out as an empty shell that someone sent me when I still had my website up. I reverse engineered a PCB I saw on the internet, made a PCB for it and gave it a DC jack and all the other things it needed to be fully functional and sound great. Later I engineered a way to make the movement of the treadle more like other wah pedals, such as a Crybaby. Now this old Colorsound "Wah Wah" is definitely one of my favorites!

About two weeks ago I found (€35) the Carlsbro Fuzz-Wah version... 🙂
It has (had) a hole in the front fitted a socked for external power...
The type of socked is the same type as yours at 1:08
This pedal works great... 🙂
Nice find
Where did you get the inductor? I have a 79 Colorsound wah that is not working and I can't get any reading out of the inductor. Any idea where to get a good replacement?
I used the inductor from a very cheap wah pedal that I bought from Target a long time ago just for the shell. It works fine. Contrary to all the hype, all the inductor does in a wah pedal is make the circuit resonant, there’s no magic in it. Once again it’s the sum of all the parts that makes the circuit sound like it does, not one specific thing. The one exception is the Colorsound shell design which gives it a very large range and also the lack of a “Q” resistor which keeps the frequency response of the inductor completely unthrottled.
couldn't you have used a set screw to make an adjustable "stop"
- say JB weld / epoxy a nut or threaded plate to the inside of the casing over a hole you've drilled then use a machine screw and locking nut to have an adjustable stop you can put a resilient / rubber end on the stop too that way you can remove it easily and/ or adjust ..?
You could but the enclosure is very flimsy, it’s just stamped steel. I wanted a lot of surface area so nothing flexes or warps.
Could you let me see a schematic please? I've got a distressed one and it is working but constantly uses battery . . . Cheers
What’s your email? I’ll send it you.
