Look I own the manga at the region of the I believe the equal to world war 2 history with Fuhrer King Bradley is like Adolf Hitler was an Austrian-born German politician who was the dictator of Germany from 1933 to 1945. He rose to power as the leader of the Nazi Party, becoming Chancellor in 1933 and then assuming the title of Führer und Reichskanzler in 1934.
Yup wasn't explained as well in FMAB vs FMA, but yeah, Al didn't take the state exam, because it might be discovered that Al has no body, and therefore, probably did human transmutation. (Which, is very Illegal btw, Roy is hidding their secret from the government)
Ed and Al are haunted at night. One wishing he could sleep, the other tormented in his dreams. Al wishing he could exist and physically feel, and Ed so low that he dreads what he's feeling. This episode is definitely one of the most emotional episodes
@@briani4959 Ed specifically states it in this episode. "The stages of alchemy are understanding, deconstruction, and reconstruction. Scar must stop after the deconstruction part."
State alechmist is somewhat a high ranking so they ain't easy to make. Only reason it seemed easy was because we saw Ed get it easy but he is a special case
Love that by episode 5 the show is already like "the group our main characters are part of committed genocide in the past and this so called, villain, is not really, evil.".
Btw, there aren't as many state alchemists as you might imagine, think of them as scientists that recieve grants by the government, on the condition that they act as soldiers. Only alchemists that achieve results, whether by research, or by action, get to keep their liscence (think of Shao Tucker). Also puts into perspective just how good at alchemy Ed and Al are, they've not really had to worry about losing their liscence, cuz they're just that good
J. Michael Tatum who's the voice actor for Scar deserves more credit. He's excellent in this series, listening to him in MHA as Tenya Iida you'd have no idea they're the same person.
Well there are a lot of common Voice actors in this show and MHA. Alex Louis Armstrong is All-Might, pretty sure the teacher is Midnight, Hohenheim is AFO, and I know I’m forgetting others. But regardless everyone is top of the line voice actors for sure.

This Ishval story has a lot of parallels to real life that its scary especially the part where that officer shot and killed that Ishvallan kid. Lets hope it never gets this bad in real life.
so one, Ishval, cause i know that pronunciation is a bit tricky at first, two, there are a few different points in the show where we get flashbacks to Ishval, so you guys will be getting more context for that as you watch. and yes, there are alchemists who arent working for the government, Ed and Al's teacher being one of them, and Al too actually lol. im glad you guys are enjoying the show so far, its an insane ride.
@@cybertronguy98 it is not that uncommon in asian languages. For example, Bengali pronouns literally have no gender regardless. We use the same pronouns for literally every living things from humans to animals.

I remember the equation of alchemy is "decomposing, analyzing and reconstruct", but what scar only doing is "decomposing", probably will explain later on in the story, as least understand this for now
This is one of my favorite animes!! So glad you two are covering this! You will not be disappointed!! Character development in this series is excellent!
Without spoilers, there are going to be some characters that you have yet to meet that I believe you guys will love in particular. People who have seen the show know. And please no spoilers in the comments or replies unless you dislose first.
FMA is quite upfront in their symbolism and comparisons to our own world history. consider the fact this anime is set in the early 1900's, it takes a lot of inspiration from WW1 and WW2. i would take it as an alternate world to our own. and this is quite literally the case in the original anime from early 2000's and its companion movie Conqueror of Shambala.
Very perceptive on the "There's more to Ishval," thing. Based on where your schedule in the communit tab says you're at, you might have a small chance of figuring out what the deal with Ishval is, but I didn't catch it in the episodes the hint was dropped, so when the reveal happens it might wind up being a total twist, so I'm not going to tell you what it is.
NO SPOILERS, but important to note: They'll have covered this in the very next episode, but Al can take quite a bit of damage. As long as his blood seal is unharmed, Ed can repair him. Any piece not connected to the blood seal is in a sense disconnected, so since his arm isn't part of his armor anymore, Al can't move that arm. If they were to blast Al's legs off, he'd be darn near immobile as the seal is in his upper body. But if they break or damage his seal, the soul loses total connection, and Al will, in a sense, die.
I am sure you won't see this, but Kacee you are so awesome!! I am kind of a young gal, and honestly you inspire me with how authentic you are! Not ashamed of your emotions, so lovely, and so kind!!
Scar will surprise you, one of my favorite chaotic-neutral sort of characters of all time. Definitely a TON of great characters in this series, however. Nobody is wholly good or evil, usually.
His fire works by transmuting their air into a foamsble gass then his gooves are made of a material that sparks when rubed together so he sparks the gass but h8 gooves dont work if their damp

A State Alchemist is a military certified alchemist approved by the state and they are refered to as "dogs of the military". They have the highest body count in the Ishvalan War of Extermination. And I can't really disclose more than that without getting into spoiler territory, so I'm just gonna leave it at that. :D Edit: Edward is a State Alchemist but his brother Alphonse isn't, that is why Scar didn't further pursue him. He was specifically targeting Ed because of his certification.
Without adding why so no spoilers, which scar story do most prefer. Brotherhood or the original fullmetal anime story? That was one story i think they did better in the original.
Scar doesn't use alchemy.and it's not alchohistory either(this type of alchemy belongs to another country you'll see it later. But the point is most of alchemist use creative mode and destructive. But the tattoo on scar right are only allowed him to do destruction.

dont other characters use they and them for Envy in Japanese and the manga as opposed to he and him in the dubb?
