  • Jacks Game. Stag. In this episode Jack charlton is in Scotland trying to get himself a magnificent wild Red stag, which he does with a cracking shot. Another truly great piece of field-sports television gold, from 1983, they dont make them like this anymore...Enjoy

    It's just so beautifully shot and paced. Dialogue and commentary for what, 20% of the film? You'd never get away with that amount of silence in a modern show.

    My favorite one so far Scott. We hunt Whitetail in Rhode Island and Connecticut regularly, but not so close to the Ocean, and not on such open ground. Would be something to hunt like this, beautiful video, thanks man.

    I watched the 1st one in the series and now just finishes this one. Absolutely priceless pieces of history, not just T.V history either, once upon a time here in Australia we could go out and shoot a rabbit or a roo etc for a meal, not anymore thanks to the bleeding hearts and their cohorts in Government. Thanks so much for sharing these Scott, i was just waiting for James Herriot to come wandering over the hill lol. As always keep them coming mate and rock on.

      Sean Cleverly Do you mean to tell us that hunting is illegal in Australia...?

    • @SeanCleverly
      @SeanCleverly 7 років тому +1

      TheodorEriksson Pretty much yes. In order to get a gun licence here you have to either own a large property or know 2 or 3 people who do, they then have to put in writing that you have permission to shoot on their land. You can only shoot feral or pest animals on private property with the owners permission, Duck hunting in W.A has open season from Jan 1 to Jun 30. When i was a kid my father would take us out and we could simply take rabbits or roo or pigeon wherever.

      Same here in Ireland.

      Here in Sweden it's sort of like getting your driver's license, there's a (I believe) 80 multiple choice question test where you need to get 90% of the questions right. Then there are several shooting tests for the different classes of weapon. The person who owns the land has the hunting rights there, the vast majority of the time. We have over 80 species that are permissable to hunt, all with their own seasons. There's always something to hunt, as some animals are in season all year (especially pests and small predators like foxes) and others are in season different times of the year, so there's quite a bit of overlap. You have to apply for a license for each weapon with the police. You're allowed 4 hunting weapons no questions asked, but to own more you need to have special reasons. For more than 6 the requirements are very high, like if you're a professional game keeper.

      TheodorEriksson Now that's a common sense way of doing it, i doubt i would require more than 3 or 4 guns to hunt the majority of species.

    What a cracking shot by Jack, I bet the anxiety of not getting a clear kill on your first time is immense. Thanks for the upload Scott, December 2016 is going to be such a treat!

      Thats exactly what I was thinking we have plenty of hills like that in Arkasnas and he was making short work of those mountains.

    What an epic show. Beautifully shot. I can only imagine how difficult it was to carry that camera around the whole time, just the battery pack must have weighed quite a bit, not to mention the camera.

      Yes it is. In case you didn't realise, Jack's Game was a short series of videos shot for British TV, featuring retired Leeds United and England footballer and later Irish Manager, Sir Jack Charlton KBE.

    I'm just so happy not much has changed today. If fact, things have gotten better. Still a wealthy mans game unless you are local but still magic. Good one Scott. Really enjoyed this mate. Cheers Moose

    Scott, quick question... do you ever come to the states to promote all of the absolutely wonderful things you do for UA-cam, and if so, do you have any appearances scheduled, or even an idea, for the new year?
    Thanks,
    Heather

    Yano, it can be pretty mad this stuff, it makes me realise that i'm happy eating the things but i'd never be man enough to take the shot and end something what i believe to be innocent, quite strange really leaves me with a funny feeling. Seeing though i can do it at other human beings.

  • @RyanPhoenixAZ

    It's funny how they blindfold the horse so it won't see the dead deer when they are putting in on its back

    • @gordonburns8731
      @gordonburns8731 7 років тому

      Of course they did. The horse naturally smells death and the hood is not to hide the sight of the dead stag but to prevent the horse from panicking (a horse will not panic whilst unable to see). After the stag is loaded, the hood is removed. Simples!

    Why did they piss about stalking it for so long????
    And to use a gun?!! ha
    Why didn't Jacky Boy just run up and head-butt Mr Stag?? Would have been more of a humane kill, and I reckon he could do it? ;-)
