For us the extra space and efficiency was a huge upsell over the likes of the MDX, QX60, XC90 and the CX90. The Aviator didn’t even compete for us, the interior was very squeaky and rattly, although it looked good but a brand new car shouldn’t have rattled the way the Aviator did. Ultimately no other 3-row SUV combines the space, efficiency and power of the TX into one package like we wanted, so now we have one on order. I do wish we had more color options tho. Originally when the TX came out I didn’t really like the design but after seeing it in person, it looks a lot better than the GH to us

Amen on the color options. I got the Incognito with Birch, but there really aren’t many color choices compared to other manufacturers.

You and I are the exact same😅 I cross shopped the Aviator, wasn’t super sold on it. Wasn’t really interested in the TX but, darn pictures don’t do it justice. So much nicer in person. Also, loved how the 500h F Sport drove. The fact I can fit in the 3rd row at 6’4” still amazes me. Such a great vehicle!
I also found the dealer experience much better with Lexus as opposed to Lincoln.
Lexus Dealer had one 500h Luxury allocation pop up while I was at the dealership! So lucky because they said they barely get any luxury ones. Reserved it right away.

@@Boston37PBhow are you liking your Fsport luxury? I’m eyeing that one, too. I thought about the TX v6 PHEV, but I’m not the type to keep up with frequent charging can barely keep up with charging all my iPads, laptops, work and personal phones, mobile hotspot….it would be yet another thing to remember to charge.

24:04 The BMW X7 starts at $81,900 as the xDrive40i. Its 3.0L inline-6 makes 375 hp, more than the TX 500h, and it has a *0-62* of 5.6 seconds, the TX 500h has a *0-60* of 5.7 seconds. Even a base X7 will handle and perform better than a fully loaded TX 500h with adaptive dampers (ridiculous that you need to get the 500h to get them) and all that stuff.

100%. We absolutely love our TX 500h and we expect it to be on the road for a LONG TIME. Additionally, the maintenance costs are vastly less expensive and less frequent vs the BMW and/or any other European luxury vehicle.

Mazda should've just bought ZF8HPs for their RWD vehicles. That transmission is brilliant, fast, smooth, super reliable and almost everybody uses it. Their in-house transmission doesn't have a torque converter, is not smooth, fast or reliable with the recalls going on right now. Such a shame.

I’ve owned Bimmer’s, Benz’s, Acuras, n Lexus’s between my wife and I. Hands down the Lexus was the most reliable. We owned them past 200k. Many of the Germans start out nice but once it’s past 65k things go downhill. There is something to be about a Lexus. It doesn’t excel in all the categories except reliability but it checks all the right boxes for the long haul.

    • @Pinkorchid72

Are the German luxury cars built to be disposable? Interesting that they start falling apart after 65K miles….well I like to keep my cars for more than 5 years. I currently have an almost 10 year old Toyota Sienna Limited AWD that looks and drives like new. I have only had to do the appropriate maintenance and tire changes. Saved me tons of $$$ which I spend on travel/vacations and Disneyland annual passes with my kids every year 😊.

@@Pinkorchid72That is great to hear. The money you saved could be put to better use. My experience with Bmmers and Mercedes is that after 65k bushings, oils leaks, suspension issues, electrical /electronics, etc. begins to surface sooner or later. The engines are still good but it becomes a money pit to keep up with the repairs and maintenance. Our MDX is also pretty good with minor issues here and there. IMO Acuras and Lexus does not have the same brand recognition but having owned multiple German cars of the same brand between my family’s and I. I would take one of those Japanese vehicles any day. They just seem to provide a hassle free experience and you truly appreciate it after realizing you driven past 150k with minimal issues. We considered the new BMW X7 but crossed it off our list for our next vehicle.

Matt I got a 500H a few weeks ago. Live right in same area go out to nightmare road a few times a month lol. Over 800-900 miles we have only management 19.6 mpg very quiet suv and good performance. However I find the MPG a big disappointment I don’t see a 7/8 mpg gain after engine break in. Think Lexus is going to have to revise these numbers

Lexus is objectively a dying brand. Idk why they still bother to make cars when 99.99% of their portfolio continues to be subpar vs other brands. Like the L logo doesn’t stand for luxury. It stands for either Loser or Lackluster. And F stands for Failure and that’s evident in F sport.

While it’s fun having a family SUV that can do all that fun stuff, I do not think that most people buying in this segment really care. I mean most GLE’s and X5’s you see on the road are the base 4 and 6 cylinder versions, cos when I’m driving the whole family I don’t really care about how fast I can go 0-60 or how the engine sounds, I just want my vehicle to be quiet and smooth and that is what every single vehicle in this class does well, sure you can get better handling and faster 0-60’s with the Germans but if you ask me, they don’t make good family haulers, except you go up to the likes of the GLS and X7, and now you’re paying a ridiculous amount of money
