Classic "protest song"!
Today's youth really has no idea that music can be used as a form of protest, as there is really no such thing as a protest song in today's music.
This is the original mono mix as heard when this was a huge hit on AM Top 40 radio on stations like WABC New York.

This is one of the best songs I've ever heard growing up... I wish they still play music like this today..... This generation has no idea what it is was back then and the events that took place........
Wowsers 🥺 Who would of thought my era music, would be telling the same story today as it was back in the 70’s.Am 67 and never expected this. We still have the best music tho!!! 😎🤘🏻🤗👍🏻☮️
This songs message is sadly still relevant today almost 50 years later
It'll always be relevant until people surrender to Jesus
If this song is any indication, it would seem that history is repeating itself... again. Protest songs are nothing new. The first protest songs appeared during the American Civil War.
What we need right now, more than anything, is another "Woodstock." Make love, not war. Peace out! ✌

💯💯💯🔥🎆🔥🎆
Yep
On February 19,1967 I saw this song played on television. I finally recorded it on my tape recorder from WHK in March of that year.
My Dad owned KFLW (now KFLS) in Klamath Falls, Oregon back in the 60's. He & my Mom were one of the last "Mom & Pop" radio station owners/managers in the country. I got to DJ a little on slow Sundays and those "Promo" records of yours sure bring back memories!
Thanks for playing this record. I have to admit that I cannot hear it in public anymore. Your vinyl collection is something awesome.
sounds more modern than to be done in 1967. Really good sound for the year. j~
+jerickzane most of what was done back then sounds better than what they put out today.
i think that isbecause before the best artists were on the radio and major labels, now that is not the case. the industry's real talent today doesn't is indie, and i use that term loosely, not as a genre
a lot of the mono mixes (save for the mixes on Surrealistic Pillow) sound remarkably punchy and modern because of all of that bass
also, it kinda helps that these 45s were pressed when the tapes were hot and fresh
always will love this song! as a kid i thought it the jefferson airplane but then my teacher correctly told me it was the great buffalo springfield!
STILL TRUE TODAY,BUT LISTEN AND HELP,WE REALLY DON'T NEED ANEW RECORDIND OF THIS SONG!♥️🐾♥️🐾
It's amazing, probably the best Stephen Stills song ever made.
Buffalo Springfield gave us some good artists-Richie Furay, Steven Stills, and Neal Young. Great bands came from these guys. 8-24-18
Great song that hasn't aged one bit!
Sounds so much fuller than what you hear now. I am used to the remixed stereo version with the bass drum pushed to the right.
To my admittedly aged ears, this mono mix is vastly superior to the stereo. Need to have a true digital version from the original mono 45 mix uploaded.
My ears are 24 and the mono mix is way better. The stereo mix is too weird. They put one guitar and the vocals on the hard left, with another guitar, backup vocals and the drums on the hard right. Nothing in the middle. It really sounds like a mess in stereo, it sounds more cohesive in mono.

im 19 and the stereo mix was mixed in that early "ohohohoho wooooo stereo what a new neat feature EVERYTHING has to be stereo" but really after this era people went "hey stereo can be used to like, not be awful"
Those hand claps near the end really stand out. Never noticed before.
Thank you for this great sound quality
Wow! The vinyl sounds so much more clear!
Stephen Stills, OMG, what an icon!
Spettacolare!!!
Sounds great instantly.... Going thru my pc to my Blackstar Ht1 guitar amp; strictly Mono. Lovely, Thanks.
Loved this song very much
I click everyday on this Video.
Purchased around 1979 at Wax Trax in Chicago - great record store!
I know a lot of people think this is Crosby, Stills, and Nash. They're only one-third right.
This song is more relivant now than ever
Much more relevant these days!
Fantastic song!-Hasn't aged one bit.
Fits in now
GREAT song!
i love how the mono sounds like it is coming right from my screen not the speakers, never noticed before, but i just played the stereo version here and it was not coming from the screen lol. pretty cool....better smoke some more to i guess
great song
Could lose myself on your channel for days/weeks/months, excellent work and long may it continue. Big high five from across the pond in london, england. peace out
NICE ......
Yep . We are done. Over and out. 01.05.20
Huge fan of Steve Stills ever since the 1968 'Super Session' lp (w/Al Kooper & Mike Bloomfield). Does anyone know the make of guitar that Steve plays on this song?
thanks for posting !!!!!!! :>)
magnifique !
You have some great ol music on here, & I grew up listening to all this stuff, thanks for putting up this page! I only have one request, I currently don't have access to my pc & therefore can't listen to several of your great songs. My request is, would you PLEASE make the Buffalow Springfield song "For What its Worth" available to hear on/via smart phone? It would really be great, & allow me to REALLY ENJOY these wonderful classic tunes! Thanks & have a Beautiful day!
This song reminds me of Vietnam in a way
it's supposed to be about Vietnam I love this song
+Tristsn Young The song is actually about riots that broke out on the Sunset Strip. Because of all the extra traffic and people attending concerts there, the residents of the city wanted a curfew set, but the music listeners felt that it violated their Civil Rights. There was a rally planned that started peaceful, but turned ugly.

Nice deck! ;)
I have this LP in quadrafanic
Never never lay your records flat even singles. I can't count the favorite vinyls I cherished I one day found cracked resting nothing on them
I hate it my favorite sex pistols one I tried to clean it tore in my hands had sharp edges the way it was printed.. I guess the older they get they get more fragile.. I have tons. But it's sad to see the odd few go and hunt endlessly to replace
There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children,
What's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Good job wabcradio77
Now I get why I can't find any audio that doesn't have the little skip at "beware"; It's on the original record.
+Leviathan “Slingtwit” Sl!nger Not a skip; the hard plosive caused a compressor to hit really hard, bringing down the level of the lead vocal momentarily. It can be heard more clearly on the raw multitrack.
+lukpac Aha, thanks for the info.
The mic pop sounds like a skip.
Presented by music disc 13!
Something I always like about this song is listening closely and hearing the hissing which of course one would never heard on any mix these days because of all this digital crap
ya guitar amplifiers have a hiss to them i too like it its textural and gives life.
damn you got a deal on this one fn eh!!!!! this song is timeless end the fucking crappy war now!!!I am in the USA damn the fn war
Good song. Can you do one with the song "That Thing You Do!" by "The Wonders"?
ANYONE HAVE , THE AMBOY DUKES - GREAT WHITE BUFFALO?
has that seventies sound to it
love that song man -where did you get all those 45"s ?
The Stereo version is washed out this is much better.
MISTERY SPOT SANTA CRUZ!
Screw video quality if this is the sound quality of all videos.
never charted here in Australia what record label would this be released in England ?
Atlantica in the UK.....though I've never seen a copy
A cover version was done in the United Kingdom by oui 3.
Inspired by the L.A. riots of 1966.
what a fucking deal. 50 centavos
I believe Buffalo Springfield later became Crosby Stills Nash and Young.
No. The group broke up a year before Stills joined up with Graham Nash of The Hollies and David Crosby (Byrds) to form Rock's first supergroup in 69. Young joined in a year later
A song seemingly now synonymous with the Vietnam War
