Apart from the copying and all, by bringing Charles back, they basically disrespected Lelouch!! Well, at least Roze is from the movie timeline, and therefore part of the alternate universe rather than the main universe of the 50 episode series. So the original still remains untarnished.
Technically not... Because the manga adaptation of the Lelouch of the Resurrection was canon to the og series. So yeah, there weren't any sequel to the manga so Roze was not canon, but it does still give leeway to Sunrise or Producers to make a new series out of the Code Geass IP.
Feel like it would've been interesting if V.V had inhabited the body of Charles clone. He'd have it as a backup in case something went wrong with the Ragnarök connection due to the outcome of different scenarios, but one V.V didn't expect was his brother betraying him. Once his mind or a copy of it was uploaded, he would find out about Charles's death and that Lelouch had ruin the plan. Finding this out, he decides that humanity isn't worth bringing the dead and living together as one being after destroying the gods. To that end he declares one thing Humanity as a whole: Extinction. Anyway, that's just me thinking what could've happened. Never would I have expected this "somehow blah blah blah returned" schtick. Two more episodes left. Let's see how they turn out, but I'll keep my expectations just in case this going down the crapper.
I was under the impression that Norland was a Geass user, which was why he was always wearing a mask, but at episode 8 when he asked how can he acquire that power, but after realizing how wrong I was, that he's actually a young clone version of Charles Zi Britannia, it blew my mind, though considering when he was explaining to Sakuya that he was created in the likely event that should something happen to Charles's old body, he would send his soul into a replacement cloned body, but because of what Lelouch did nearly a decade ago in the storyline, that plan was thrown off, now Norland is just a walking empty husk, and a being with no soul makes a lot of sense, how he didn't hesitate to kill Ash's little brother, nor dispose the guy who created those killer rumbas, he's just a heartless machine with the only purpose of wiping out humanity, no other motives than that, it's like how AI's have declared humanity as a danger to itself, and chose to cleanse the earth of it, or like he's Code Geass's version of a Terminator, on the fact that he can't be reasoned with, he can't be bargained with, and he will not stop until everyone is dead at his feet.
Now I understand why Disney got the licence and not Crunchyroll, Amazon or Netflix, those three prob took one look at this and went "hell nah". They knew it was going to be a shark jumping source material disrespecting stinker. And yet Crunchyroll still hosts the awful Eureka Seven: AO.

Idk why everyone is making Palpatine references. This isn't a Palpatine. The Palpatine clone was straight-up Palpatine. The Charles clones is very distinctly his own individual and NOT Charles himself. Therefore, this isn't a Palpatine reference... this is a Full Frontal reference.

I guess most people here haven’t seen much of the Gundam franchise. Sunrise copying their other works is something that has happened too often. I knew people would be pissed about this reveal. I kinda expected this in this alternate timeline series. We already revived the dead with Lelouch , so why not cloning😅? Especially with stuff that happened in side material like Nightmare of Nunnally, OZ or Akito. I already knew this show would be as good as the original series or expected good writing as they pretty much don’t seem to care. I understand why people wanted more and I agree it should have gotten more time. But it is what it is. Honestly to me, I don’t think the reveal takes away my enjoyment of the show or how intimidating Norland is. I prefer the CGI it just looks better since we first saw them in that animation also I think Code Geass Akito The Exiled did CGI in anime the best and I would have loved to see them return like that. Tbh when I saw the Alexanders they looked odd in this style and I didn't like it

With norlan's reveal I'm feeling a little bit disappointed by the fact that, there was absolutely no need for the geass in the story. Admittedly, norlan could still have a geass, but at this point there is there's no narrative or practical reason he'd have one, he isnt even a failed code bearer so there's no excuse why the super secret immortal genius L2 would give a geass to someone stepping on to the world stage and the biggest conflict of that era. Btw the clone part isn't a problem for me, the scene was just kinda lacking. With how much sakuya was prying norlan thats usually the part where the big bad finally announces their grand motovation, but no that'll happen some time in the next few episodes, which is a weird pacing choice.

I just really hope they don't try to do a fast surprise ending where the OG Charles come back somehow. for Norland has this physical connection with his kightmare and with this foulbout they are introducing. I wouldn't surprise if say in the final battle causes something to Norland which allows Charles consciousness somehow gets transferred into Norland hence completing his mission.
There are so many things wrong with Roze of the Recapture that I don't even know where to begin......... 1. WTF was Suzaku/Zero even doing while Hokkaido/ The Japanese was being spit on??? He is basically the world strongest with his live command and Lancelot Albion Zero. You telling me he couldnt atleast do something??? 2. Why was the Knight of One mocking Ash's fighting style when he works with the Vampire of Britannia? One could argue the vampire was fakest knight in Code Geass History. 3. Lelouch wiped out Britannian history when he was emperor and burned Charles legacy. How in the world did he miss his clone??? I still have more complaints but i cant be bothered anymore. I'm not a hater, just confused as fuck.
You know maybe I would've been a bit more lenient on the whole clone situation if it weren't for the fact that I'm pretty sure in the movies and in resurrection they never not once mentioned this whole cloning technology being an actual thing so it still feels like a huge cop-out because it wasn't built up properly. Not to mention even if you try to bring up the fact that Norland is not Charles that still doesn't excuse the fact that he's gonna go for the generic evil villain plan of basically killing everyone so we don't even get the good payoff of having an interesting Char clone. I definitely do prefer the 2D art when it comes to robot designs if only because I'm so sick of seeing CGI used for robots and it is cool to see a whole bunch of old characters make a comeback and Catherine finally has some character development...... I mean they ruined it with her boobs jiggling around but it's something. Still a pretty head shaking episode and I will say this if they go so far as to have Sakuya even go into seed mode for the final battle then this really will be gundam seed I don't think that would be a good sign.
If the body was prepared for Marianne I'd understand but not Charles he's immortal so it just doesn't make sense to me.. the animation of the Alexander's was boring it was still frames
It is feasible that he could have made himself a backup clone in case his body (even built like a Dark Souls boss that it was) could crap out on him. Or get killed otherwise. His Geass involved memory implantation, so it actually fits perfectly with a clone. It's just, you know, weird that he didn't have a backup body for Marianne. *Especially* after he learned what her Geass was. It's also a little weasley and out of character for him (considering his views on 'masks' that people wear) to have a clone, instead of just beefing up his body with augmentions to keep it from crapping out. Which he clearly had to have in order to become the lumberjack of a man he is, considering he was a lil string bean hazel haired kid 50 years prior. It's also lame. Very, very, lame.

You know maybe I would've been a bit more lenient on the whole clone situation if it weren't for the fact that I'm pretty sure in the movies and in resurrection they never not once mentioned this whole cloning technology being an actual thing so it still feels like a huge cop-out because it wasn't built up properly. Not to mention even if you try to bring up the fact that Norland is not Charles that still doesn't excuse the fact that he's gonna go for the generic evil villain plan of basically killing everyone so we don't even get the good payoff of having an interesting Char clone. I definitely do prefer the 2D art when it comes to robot designs if only because I'm so sick of seeing CGI used for robots and it is cool to see a whole bunch of old characters make a comeback and Catherine finally has some character development...... I mean they ruined it with her boobs jiggling around but it's something. Still a pretty head shaking episode and I will say this if they go so far as to have Sakuya even go into seed mode for the final battle then this really will be gundam seed I don't think that would be a good sign.

It is feasible that he could have made himself a backup clone in case his body (even built like a Dark Souls boss that it was) could crap out on him. Or get killed otherwise.
His Geass involved memory implantation, so it actually fits perfectly with a clone.
It's just, you know, weird that he didn't have a backup body for Marianne. *Especially* after he learned what her Geass was. It's also a little weasley and out of character for him (considering his views on 'masks' that people wear) to have a clone, instead of just beefing up his body with augmentions to keep it from crapping out.
Which he clearly had to have in order to become the lumberjack of a man he is, considering he was a lil string bean hazel haired kid 50 years prior.
