I tried to make use of his ability on Xenologue 1, he had a 33% chance of critting a wolf, so I took that chance, he missed and got critted himself on the counterattack. That's when I straight up only used him for Corrin terrain bc I was not dealing with his bullshit
Yeah for me, the clue was when I was using Gregory with Celica, and ‘Holy Stance’ triggered. I first thought it was like Griss’s unique variation of Celica’s ability where it could proc with any unit, but then I checked and it was just for corrupted. Then I suspected
i chalked it up to them being "corrupted" because of their circumstances, not necessarily bc they were undead, but rather "corrupted" in the same way that power and tragedy can corrupt someone. i think i liked my initial interpretation more than what the game ended up doing... in any case, at least they were consistent with that gameplay choice and the narrative

They managed to make me like Hortensia. Not even just because she was depressed; her voice was always nails on a chalkboard to me. Voice is actually good now, same VA and everything. Which means she and the director deliberately wanted my ears to bleed before, so that's quite a nice range on that actress.

thats what makes me think that these aren’t so much inverse versions of the characters we know as much as it is them put through extreme circumstances. Like you can still see aspects of their character shine through, but it’s just accentuated because of the hell world they had lived through

Hortensia says that Goldmary had no elegance, Fogado says that Bunet was a terrible cook. I too noticed the effectiveness when I Engaged+ but still didn’t put two and two together until the big reveal. They seemed more lively and human than corrupted Hyacinth in our world. They even have the privilege of using REVIVAL stones which is ironic because they’re already dead.

It's interesting to know that almost all of the enemies you fight are corrupted. The reason why I say almost all. Well that's more close to the final boss of the xenologe.

No significance beyond sounding cool and being in all the tracks. Maybe it's meant to be the counterpart to the main theme leitmotif from base game which is itself everywhere

It wasn't great or anything stellar, but i'm not so sure I can say the same about the writing of the DLC. especially with the bumrush of unearned twists nearing the end of it. Oh the royals were dead the whole time. (At least this was foreshadowed through gameplay, but it didn't explain anything considering the big bad was the one who revived them. why give them their bracelets back? what was the point?) Oh Nel actually loved the divine dragon, which is weird. Oh Nil was actually evil the whole time, but actually also not Nil, but actually also Nel knew the whole time, but actually also it's uncertain if Rafal was completely evil and maybe it was just sombron using 4d chess to make his two remaining children fight after he died, but actually also Nel knew this too and so she kiIIed herself, but actually also apparently Rafal heard somewhere that dragons can revive each other, but actually this will take an arbitrary 1000 years that just happen offscreen because I guess time passes differently in the xenologue world At least the music and the Winds were cool

Fell Paralogue avoided presenting it's story in the fashion the Main Game did and that's likely why it avoided the hate by those who hated the main story! (Helps they had little in the reviewers to justify going around and being shitheads for a few of them. And you know many of them only acted like assholes because of some of the reviewers! Not that I'm blaming them! Seriously! Say "you didn't find the story interesting" in your review and discover you just started a war you will obviously be blamed for when it's not your fault some people are crazy and decide to go insane attacking others because of their opion) Frankly speaking it felt like a story that should have had more then 5 chapters to tell it in my opinion as you mentioned with the "unearned twists" (But I would only accept that IF it was like Cindered Shadows in that I only have to beat it ONCE period to get all the stuff in main game playthroughs and that's only one of MANY things that need fixing for it!) Hopefully the Devs with the Next Fire Emblem look at Engage and SERIOUSLY look at "what went wrong" and how they could fix things in the next Fire Emblem (Have no problem with the SP gaining from gaining EXP! Just wish you got more and no reduction based on EXP gains, and SP costs were not insanely high....or that they made the numbers on those like "Sword Avoid 1-X" so damn high when it was better to stop the number at like "Sword Avoid 1-3" and that was that! And by that I mean Sword Avoid 1 bonuses are not so small" to make it worth the grab) Story Presentation to be honest could be worked on (namely look at the cutscenes that DID work in Engage as many of them were pretty good. REALLY need to avoid having the character's feel like their close as hell to each other! Referring to how Chapter 10 End Cutscene went....or how you feel like the characters are next to each other....then battle starts and your far away...and look at Three Houses/Three Hopes! They did a good job avoiding that problem! And REALLY look into the Cringey cutscenes and maybe see it from those who complained about them's point of view on "why that didn't work out well as it did and was cringy") Engage has potential, hell I'll say the story was better presented then Fates (Found myself FIXING Fates story alot cause I see it's potential if they didn't make the mistakes they did in it! Engage had the advantage of NOT having a route system, so Alear's personality stayed consistent unlike Corrin who was all over the place! Funny that Corrin is better when "not in their own game" LOL) I'm not going to compare it to 3Houses story wise because the scales were different (and that would be like comparing Thracia 776 to Genealogy or Blazing Sword to Binding Blade. I'd say compare Binding Blade story to Shadow Dragon or Sacred Stones, hell even Path of Radiance! Blazing Sword....compare it to Engage instead) but to say it has no redeemable qualities or anything good is just asinine (People can have their opinions, I'm just pissed off more at the assholes who feel your not allowed to have an opinion or you committed a sin because you dared to have one opposite of them. Also not a fan of the 3Houses vs Engage crowd who go out of their way to DOGSHIT one to raise the other up like they fear praising one means you hate the other! (Helps they had little in the reviewers to justify going around and being shitheads for a few of them. And you know many of them only acted like assholes because of some of the reviewers! Not that I'm blaming them! Seriously! Say "you didn't find the story interesting" in your review and discover you just started a war you will obviously be blamed for when it's not your fault some people are crazy and decide to go insane attacking others because of their opion)
Frankly speaking it felt like a story that should have had more then 5 chapters to tell it in my opinion as you mentioned with the "unearned twists" (But I would only accept that IF it was like Cindered Shadows in that I only have to beat it ONCE period to get all the stuff in main game playthroughs and that's only one of MANY things that need fixing for it!)
Hopefully the Devs with the Next Fire Emblem look at Engage and SERIOUSLY look at "what went wrong" and how they could fix things in the next Fire Emblem (Have no problem with the SP gaining from gaining EXP! Just wish you got more and no reduction based on EXP gains, and SP costs were not insanely high....or that they made the numbers on those like "Sword Avoid 1-X" so damn high when it was better to stop the number at like "Sword Avoid 1-3" and that was that! And by that I mean Sword Avoid 1 bonuses are not so small" to make it worth the grab) Story Presentation to be honest could be worked on (namely look at the cutscenes that DID work in Engage as many of them were pretty good. REALLY need to avoid having the character's feel like their close as hell to each other! Referring to how Chapter 10 End Cutscene went....or how you feel like the characters are next to each other....then battle starts and your far away...and look at Three Houses/Three Hopes! They did a good job avoiding that problem! And REALLY look into the Cringey cutscenes and maybe see it from those who complained about them's point of view on "why that didn't work out well as it did and was cringy")
Engage has potential, hell I'll say the story was better presented then Fates (Found myself FIXING Fates story alot cause I see it's potential if they didn't make the mistakes they did in it! Engage had the advantage of NOT having a route system, so Alear's personality stayed consistent unlike Corrin who was all over the place! Funny that Corrin is better when "not in their own game" LOL) I'm not going to compare it to 3Houses story wise because the scales were different (and that would be like comparing Thracia 776 to Genealogy or Blazing Sword to Binding Blade. I'd say compare Binding Blade story to Shadow Dragon or Sacred Stones, hell even Path of Radiance! Blazing Sword....compare it to Engage instead) but to say it has no redeemable qualities or anything good is just asinine (People can have their opinions, I'm just pissed off more at the assholes who feel your not allowed to have an opinion or you committed a sin because you dared to have one opposite of them. Also not a fan of the 3Houses vs Engage crowd who go out of their way to DOGSHIT one to raise the other up like they fear praising one means you hate the other! All while I'm hearing playing them back to back and having fun with them fully aware of their flaws, but their strengths FAR outweigh the flaws!)
