In all fairness, and I don’t live in Florida. The FOIA laws are less strict than other states. Meaning you ask, you immediately get info in Florida. This allows quick access to the most bizarre and juicy stories to fill holes on slow news days. The same info could take weeks in others states. As a person familiar with criminal actions in several states, everyone is fuck up, just better at keeping their skeletons stowed away; basically we are all Florida.
A long time ago I did a deep dive into this "Florida Man" thing, and the reality is that Florida is no "weirder" than any other state. I know "weird" is subjective, but the reality is that Florida is more transparent with crime than any other state.. If I recall correctly they have a "crime/criminal transparency" law where criminals and their crimes are required to be reported in the local media .. Basically crimes need to be listed in the local paper, which is commonly referred to as a "police blotter" - so there is total transparency in Florida...
That's because it has nothing to do with florida and everything to do with men period. There's no shortage of perverts or stupid violent criminals in any city. I've been dealing with these sick freaks since I was a child. It's honestly disturbing how many men are interested in kids and have no qualms about following a child or worse. I think it's unfair to call these cases Florida unless it has something to do with stereotypical florida things, like the dude who put an alligator in the restaurant would be a good example of a Florida man video. Most of these are just run of the mill perverts/criminals you would find in every city.
The last time I was in Florida, a family had a bunch of young men with downs syndrome, shirtless, in summer, waving confederate flags next to the on ramp to a causeway in Destin, FL. It's an image that has forever stayed with me.
To be completely honest, I'd expect the same thing here in South Carolina - while Covid was starting to rear its ugly head, I pulled off 385 in my state South Carolina, and a similar group was holding up Trump signs, anti-gay signs, Covid isn't real signs, and Biden is the devil signs, on the bridge on the overpass of Haywood road in Greenville, SC. Members of that group clearly had a chromosomal issue and I felt sick knowing their lives were being blighted and limited by these hate-filled fuckwits. I wonder if they were the same group? It was like May-June 2020.
They’d have no interest in such a place because it’s legal. They don’t get the thrill of power from wrecking objects. Nor do they get the thrill from willing participants. He could have purchased the toys but that wouldn’t have given him the thrill of public indecency and defilement.
I've worked for most of the major theme parks in central Florida, and sad as it is to say, the only part that surprised me about the Ariel story is that they actually called the police :/ I've seen costumed characters be groped, and all our supervisors would do is give the guy a warning or MAYBE escort him from the park if he fought back 🙃
Same. My supervisors at WDW would probably have apologized profusely to the guy and given him free stuff for the inconvenience of being accused of a crime. However, they probably had the police come backstage and took care of it there. There's an outside entrance with a bus stop right next to Ariel's Grotto, so it's pretty accessible from outside the park. I used to work right next to there and got in through that entrance.

I was so confused by the pole thief, in Michigan most of these poles are timber, so I was questioning what good the pole would do for scrap metal until I saw the image
Honestly same but Maine here. Also anything left in or on the road long enough (generally only a few hours too) is considered abandoned property. He should actually have been perfectly fine to sell IF he reported it as abandoned property first Even then getting arrested is nuts ridiculous
Looking up florida law im surprised his lawyers didnt get him off. Property placed or abandoned on the side of a road is deemed trash and valueless. Not only should he not have a charge, but even if they had a charge the grand theft charge should be reduced
I also was very confused until the picture came up, most poles in my state are wood with a metal shield at the base. Except the poles traffic lights are on but those are way too big to strap to a normal car lmao.
The car rescue story was a nice little addition. Prisoners that qualify for work detail are there for victimless, non-violent crime. At least in my state... I give them sodas and snacks anytime i see em near my house.
Good for you. In the US especially, people tend to assume that all prisoners are there for horrendous crimes, but in reality the vast majority of prisoners in the US were arrested for drug-related crimes such as possession with intent to distribute, most without any violent component attached. Combining that with the way that the labor of prisoners is exploited by this country (slavery is still legal in America as punishment for a crime!), you offering that small act of kindness means a lot
If you ever consider doing a part 2, you should talk about the Florida Man that called the police to make sure the meth he bought was real. I learned about this from a scrapped Florida Man video I was making and it was a wild ride. Also while looking into it he had a kidnapping charge prior to this.

A big reason there's so many Florida man stories, Is something called the "Sunshine law", Started in 1967. It basically makes county arrest records, very public to other states.
I lived in Daytona Beach for a year and I saw so many crazy wacked out people. My favorite was the naked guy standing on top of a dumpster taking a 💩 and singing "loving arms" by Journey at the top of his lungs
I hope you know that Florida is unique when it comes to publicly available files. Meaning almost every case is available to view by the public unlike any other state. Thats why you hear about Florida so much
If some of other Southern states had Sunshine Laws like Florida allowing anyone to browse public records without a request, Florida would look pale in comparison ... Imagine stories from Louisiana Swamp Man.

Amen! I really appreciate it too! Not all prisoners are bad people, most are actually very good people that either ended up in a s**t situation or grew up in a s**t situation. They lead the only life they’ve ever known and I hate how people judge about that. Plus I’m also bothered about how convicts serve their time and yet can barely make a life on the “good path” because everyone still judges them. In the US at least, once you do your time, you paid your debt to society. They are supposed to be able to live out their life and yet there are so very few places that will even offer a job to them. So no wonder they end up back in prison, they have no way to make money for suitable living and so they have to go back to crime 😑🙁. Anyways sorry for the rant and thank you for making your comment!

Down the street were gangs of wild chickens with roosters that are aggressive, just hanging out in-between city buildings, and then a man walking a cow on a leash through the city center.
Stories like these give me even more empathy for police. Can you imagine going to work and finding out the next item on your agenda is to catch and restrain a screaming naked man covered in blood. Wow. Some people have boring jobs, some people like myself have relatively unique/interesting/specialized jobs, and then the police are in their own very special category of potentially getting themselves into literally any possible situation no matter how bizarre or unlikely. We must appreciate and respect them, and do our best to be more understanding and less judgmental, considering how insanely difficult such an occupation must be where you have absolutely no idea what might happen the next time you go into work and constantly have to be prepared to handle ANYTHING. There are plenty of difficult, challenging jobs; but that is next level.
One of my favorite Florida man stories is one I heard recently. The headline says And I quote " Florida man sexually assaults manatee statue In front of a restaurant"
The last was wild, unlike most long form videos which are good at the start and then downhill thereafter this was a bang throughout, and the best at the end. Thanks wavywebsurf.
Not in Florida but when I used to work graveyard shift at a gas station I had a lady try to get a refund out of this pack of jerky that only had a single strip, which was intentional, and she had already opened it and taken a couple bites out of it. To top it all off she claimed it was “too dry.”
If I ever move to Florida the first thing I’m doing is getting a job as an LP camera officer at a Walmart. I’d have enough content in one week for a whole year to start a UA-cam channel.
As morbid as it sounds, I'm hyper impressed by a super depressed quadriplegic guy with stubs for arms being able to somehow operate a rifle to kill two people and then get away from the cops in a car for *eleven fucking days* in a red car. Like, how wasn't he caught immediately?
I moved from the North East when I was about 17 down to south Florida (broward, and then Overtown) until I was about 22-23 and yea, hands down the most wild period of my life. I really didn’t realize how crazy it was until after I left and all the wild stuff I seen on a daily basis almost never happened at all anywhere else. New York seems to be currently catching up.
I bet one could come up with all kinds of stories like this about every state. I'm from Florida, and I can say I had a great life growing up there. My parents took us to the beach frequently, and as I grew older I spent most weekends at the beaches from Miami to Flagler Beach. Crimes in Florida are no different than anywhere else in the country. Some of these You Tubers just go off the charts, and I find many are not to be believed. This guy is one of them.
As a member of the illustrious Florida man club (a man who’s lived in Florida his whole life), I could make a compelling argument that there may in fact be more Florida men and women then normal humans in the state.
Most criminals hate child abusers and hate when children are in danger from my understanding. To a degree, I am unsurprised that a bunch of criminals helped break into a car to save a child. It was nice to have such a wholesome story in the mix.
You mean men? Because there wasn't one woman in this video. And yes, it happens constantly. Tons of dudes are getting out on bond when they have murder charges ffs.
I swear Utah also does this
That's because it has nothing to do with florida and everything to do with men period.
Yeah, I think it's called the Sunshine law
It's the sunshine act, as cruciatus said. If you knew what went on in Oregon, Florida would look like a state of law abiding geniuses.
@@mikesanders8621this is beyond true and I’ll swear by it everytime

He should actually have been perfectly fine to sell IF he reported it as abandoned property first
Even then getting arrested is nuts ridiculous
Looking up florida law im surprised his lawyers didnt get him off. Property placed or abandoned on the side of a road is deemed trash and valueless.
Not only should he not have a charge, but even if they had a charge the grand theft charge should be reduced
Same
I also was very confused until the picture came up, most poles in my state are wood with a metal shield at the base.
Visiting prisoners is a Christian corporal work of mercy. In my mind that extends to generally being merciful towards prisoners. Good on you.
If you ever consider doing a part 2, you should talk about the Florida Man that called the police to make sure the meth he bought was real. I learned about this from a scrapped Florida Man video I was making and it was a wild ride. Also while looking into it he had a kidnapping charge prior to this.

I saw an article a while back that said "Florida man ties alligator to a tree and repeatedly sexually assaults it for attempting to bite him"

New York seems to be currently catching up.
i think one could argue that ‘florida man’ is one of florida’s most popular wildlife
