      @lets Talk English- just a small query. “Can you pass me my mug of coffee” Is the sentence formation correct ? Should it not be “can you pass my mug of coffee to me”?

    Im a native english speaker (from the USA), and I don't think I've ever used these words, at least not in these circumstances. "Burned" is just fine in the first two cases, and id probably just "my feet are sore" in the third case

    No you don’t have to use seared. You can use burned. It totally depends on how hot the mug was. It’s common usage nit dictionary usage.

    No, you say burned. I am a well educated native english speaker. Seared is used for cooking. Searing steaks for example.

    I thought the a in chafe was pronounced as a long a, as in the very name of the letter a. Like in came, same, fate, etc. Thats the pronunciation given in the OALD dictonary, both for British and American English
