Also next to the Sitooterie is a superb family run convenience store. Stock most things as well as a Post Office. Shop local keeps the investments in the area. We always shop in locally owned shops when away rather than nationals. By the way a great video.
Lots of good memories of my younger days of family camping holidays at Big Sands in the 1960's. It all still looks very familiar and as you say the beach goes on forever.
Thanks for the info about the Gairloch aire. Full marks to the local authority for providing this. Will definitely stay there next time I’m in the area.
Hi Cameron, how about a mention for the excellent “Gairloch Holiday Park” behind the Hotel in the Village which is only £14 for a Camper and driver with spotless showers included and no rush to leave in the morning. They do however charge extra for passengers.
The Gairloch Museum is well worth a visit and has a great café. The GALE centre also has agreat community run café and there is a good farm shop nearby. I love that area - so many interesting things in the area. the Arctic Convoy Centre at Aultbea and of course Inverewe Gardens. Aultbea is also home to Ritchies, makers of the BEST blackpudding ever. You're quite the 'coding bleu' chef with your Ridgemonkey. They really are the best ever camping accessory.
Love this place, we were there last week celebrating our golden wedding with a meal in the Barn, after a lovely walk on that beach. Have been several times before and hope it never changes.
Hi we fell in love with sands campsite the first time we went there and have been back there times the last time was the middle of September and we had amazing weather as you said we love the freedom to park wherever you want
Great wee write up for my lovely Gairloch, Sands is also fab for locals, a shop that also is great for locals, can always pick up that wee gift, odd ingredient or that thing, we didn’t know we needed, till we visited! By the way… recipe looked fab…. But heck! What was your poor wife getting for tea?? Hopefully she was I. The restaurant eating cake!! 😍
Looks delicious Cameron!! Gairloch is very close to my heart and Sands is a fantastic campsite. My great great grandfather Torquil Paterson was the Free Church of Scotland minister in Gairloch. Lived in Aultgrishan on a croft across the road from the old pub at Melvaig, which was originally the meeting hall for FCS Great entertaining video as always Sir 👌 Thank you 🙏
Hi, Greetings from across the water in Northern Ireland. Just watched my first of your videos. It won't be the last, lovely tempo, interesting content and a recipe that looks doable even by me, great stuff. Thank you
@@neilanderson841 It's called a Ridgemonkey. It's basically a double sided frying pan and was origiinally designed for fisherman to make toatsed sandwiches at the side of the river. Available from Amazon or www.ridgemonkey.com
Hi Cameron, really enjoyed your wee cooking segment! Good to see what kind of dishes you can create in a small van with only a two burner hob (and a ridge monkey!). I'd like to see you do more like this!
Another fantastic video. Top tip, use the lid of the tuna tin to press down and squeeze all the brine out. I'm going to try that omelette next time I'm out in the van. Looks really good.
I've been to Sands park a few times and love it , we must have driven past that car park and didn't even know it was in there , definitely will keep it in mind Cameron.
We've just come across your channel as we're heading up to the Wester Ross region next week from the New Forest in Hampshire. We've never laughed so much. Lots of great info, thank you as we're trying to plan our route. You have another subscriber!
Hi, Gairloch one of our favourite places, nice to see it again. i have to make a decision soon on whether to go for pop top or retro fitted high top on VW 6.1, i would prefer a hightop, have u had many issues on having the high top on ur van (thinking height barriers in highland/forestry car parks)? thanks
No, I've not really had any issues. My thinking was simple. After owning two pop tops in a row I came to the conclusion that increasingly windy and stormy weather made pop tops almost unusable at certain times of the year.

I enjoyed this video a lot, I moved to the area after years of camping trips to big sands, loved seeing it all on film. Thank you

My pleasure.
Thanks for showing the aire and Sands Camp site, we stayed at Sands last year for a week and loved it. You have reminded us of very happy times
Hi we fell in love with sands campsite the first time we went there and have been back there times the last time was the middle of September and we had amazing weather as you said we love the freedom to park wherever you want
When we stayed at Sands campsite it rained for the best part of 48 hours straight! Of course one of the joys of Scotland!

Thank you for a great video. I follow the Sitooterie on Facebook and never realised how long it was. Love an omelette, will give this a try

@@CameronMcNeishOutdoorsHi Cameron, what was the item used to cook your meal?. ta Neil

Love Gairloch, love Sands Campsite. Like you get get up there as much as possible. Our spiritual home…….

Lovely wee video, sir. It's good to see both of you out and about. 😂 at the cooking mishap as I nearly done that earlier this year.
I've been to Sands park a few times and love it , we must have driven past that car park and didn't even know it was in there , definitely will keep it in mind Cameron.
Have to agree sands is one of the best been there five times this year, that omelette made us hungry just watching you 😋😋
Melted plastic on toast, mmm, yummy. Done it loads of times, but not on toast , Yet,, will have to get a Ridge Monkey, safe travels Cameron
That was a lot of salt in the omelette mix. Apart from that, it looks like something I could manage easily whilst camping or boating.
You don't get much out of these twisty containers. Good point though, especially for those suffering from a heart condition.

Great video, lovely part of Scotland. By the way you’re a dead ringer for George Galloway!
@@Justagirlok101 Mmm…
Hi Cameron I did exactly the same thing melted plastic 😢
@@michaellambert4727 So easy to do…
Use the lid for the tuna to drain,we do that for our furries
Please be careful here as the car park can flood during storms & high tide.
You not be getting any call ups for cooking programs any time soon 😂
Ha ha, can you imagine it???
