Even though this is a long video I much prefer to watch it this way than the usual 7 instalments which are often full of repetition. Hope you'll continue with the format.
Agreed usually by day 5 it feels like going through the motions to get to the end of the week. Single video allows for tighter cuts/edits. Downside being needing more videos to cover the same amount of video.
My brother got a job with golden wonder in the late 70s. Imagine my face when I came home from primary school to see a tower of chicken and mushroom pot noodles in the living room. My mother shouting at my father for eating jungle fresh peanuts in bed was another great memory....
This format works 1 ) for the current YT algorith, the title fits very well for it as well. 2) as much as i love the daily uploads they do tend to repeat by day 4 or 5 so having condensed version helps fix that problem.
Heads up about Monosodium Glutamate at 4:23 It's mainly called MSG. It just helps amplify the flavor profiles, it doesn't actually taste much of salt, it just brings your tastebuds alive a bit more..! Used to be the blame for diahrea/headaches from chinese food, but soon proven that it didn't have much of an effect and after testing, it was rare for it to provide any side effects. Often made as a side product from soy sauce/fermentation products, naturally found within tomatoes, especially if you salt the tomatoes. It's a wonderful ingredient and I would recommend having it in your cupboard for chips! Disodium inosinate I don't actually have but I know it's used to help bring out MSG's effects better and combined it just overall brings out the flavors more.
I think combining the week formats into a single video is a good idea honestly. As you mentioned its less work and you don't have the problem of views dropping off. There have been week ons where by day 4 things got really boring (a lot of the diet kits for example get old very fast)
Love the long-form videos. Can't believe I'm saying this but I want a pot noodle now. Pretty sure I done this challenge a few times as a student (': great work
28:28 - Here in Australia we do not have Pot Noodles - we have Suimin Noodles! They have individual sachets for the salt, seasoning, and sauces. So you COULD reduce the salt!!!
Worth noting with this longer format, I’ve been subscribed for a long time (was a viewer on a previous account) and this is the only time I’ve been recommended your video on my homepage. The algorithm seems to appreciate the longer average watchtime.
When it comes to pot & supper noodles, I always squeeze the pot all around & spash the pack of supper noodles to break them up it soaks in the water quickly then just leaving them to go through a solid one😊 oh it's always best to put the sauce in after it has soaked the water in, you'll taste it better😊😊
Thank you for doing the week on videos. Been watching for a long time. This one made me worried for you. Hope you were able to get rid of that crazy salt and start feeling better. Liking the new format.
I ate pot noodles a lot in college, usually chili lime shrimp. Being lazy, i would often use the glass of water on the bedstand to make it. Got a nasty surprise the day I accidentally left Blue Light vodka on the nightstand instead of water. (Still finished the pot cause I was poor.)
I did this once in my younger days. Think it was for around 3-4 weeks, I ate nothing but Bombay Bad Boy ones. I had managed to get a few trays of them for really cheap and I had no money to get anything else, so these were the only option. To be honest, I didnt feel any different, and my weight stayed around the same.
I had nothing but 39p Lidl Snack shots every day for 2 years. They’re excellent. I didn’t get paid until nearly 5 months into the job then had to replay everyone I borrowed money from to commute into work so kept with them for a long while after
Every couple of years i see pot noodles on the supermarket shelf and think, haven't had these in a while i'll by some, then after the first mouthful i remember why i haven't had one in years.
As a kid I was quite into F1 and my usual Sunday afternoon race requirement was a sweet and sour pot noodle (with peas removed), an apple, and a pint of milk! No idea why
I always over fill my pot noodles because I like to drink the broth after 🤣 but I've never had an issue with them tasting to salty...and I'm not 1 that likes alot of salt...maybe it's because you're underfilling them that they taste extra salty to you
they say that you pay more for the king pot noodle for less thana normal one the king is only 20% bigger on average normal 0.90p king £1.40 only thats 50p for extra 24g so you can get more in 3 normal than 2 king for the same price so 270g instead of 220g about 50g more for the same price
@ron donnis You haven't lived 😂 Though calling it a sandwich is generous, typically hold the buttered slice of bread over the pot noodle, fork some noodles onto one side, fold it in half and dig in, letting it drip back into the pot since can be a touch messy haha, don't knock it til you've tried it! (But yes very decisive topic some people swear by it others don't. Maybe it's a regional thing haha!)
If you want the sauce to be sticky the trick is to stir it aggressively and it will thicken up into a more desirable consistency, if that can even be said about pot noodle
I do, on occasion, eat the Nissin Cup Noodles. Usually either Shrimp or Chicken Terriyaki styles because those are the only two flavours on the shelf in the supermarket around the corner.
You should of made a mega pot noodle at the end and mixed all the flavours together, in your experience do you reckon it would be nice and groundbreaking? Love the content
Leave 10 mins instead of four. Seal top fully and weight it down to make a perfect seal. Stir every couple of mins and replace the lid. That’s some propa cooked noodles for me. 4 mins is not enough to get a good cook on the dried noodles
Just to say, ignore the instructions, pour it in way above the line, cover it over with tin foil for at least 6 minutes. Stir it with the sauce, cover it back over for a further 2 minutes and then enjoy! Also at the end, you get a well deserved soup!
I think this is the way to go. I saw your update video and I'll be honest, I subscribed to your channel back when you were a movie reviewer and still prefer that side of you. While I find Week On entertaining it is hard to get through 7 episodes of a subject. I think this is a good way for someone like me to stay engaged. But I still miss you reviewing movies in a fancy suit!
I generally have a craving for things like Mr. Noodles and Kraft Dinner a couple of times a year. Then i realize why I don't eat them again and repeat it 6 months later. Must be a nostalgia thing...my memory correlates eating this stuff with childhood and teenage times.
May I suggest the sardine challenge, reviewing the various sardines available, especially Waitrose own in olive oil, probably the best value variety available in the uk.
Welcome back Mike its great to watch your "week on" videos. .😊 Have you seen the Inside No.9. Episode To have and to Hold? If you like Pot Noodles and a bit of dark drama, its worth a watch. Keep up the good work.🙏👍
Just a heads up - "I will not let the food defeat me" is the mindset that I adopted when I ate my second (and last) KFC Double Down. Just... giving that for perspective.
The original curry flavoured Pot Noodle was lovely, and it had one hell of a kick. It got relaunched in a weaker recipe. The Bombay Bad Boy is nearer the strength of the original curry.
i only like 7 day weeks on if its a supermarket because you can do price comparisons, you cook and i like seeing other peoples food shopping and weekly meals in general. especially if its the cheap range, redoing them to see the Chane in cost and shrinkflation would be interesting
Sorry Mike, early flavours were Curry, Beef and Tomato and Chicken and Mushroom. That was it. Also, fill it to max and then as soon as it will stir, get that dry mixture off the bottom!
Loving the new format... enjoy one long video rather than the seven individual ones. Still plenty of Basilness and questionable food choices... nice job Mike!!

100% agree!
Clown 🤡 why not watch in 4 ten minute bits. 😡
Far too many people in the comments have main character syndrome.
Anyone remember when Pot Noodles had little bits of dried veg in it? Now you get a token pea.
U call that stuff veg it was like dry toilet paper with weak ass flavour
29:15 I really like how u added B-roll whilst you summarised similar meals. New camera angles too! Solid production addition 👌
golden nogger to you
no hot dogging during this 'week on' for sure
I love you three.
We need an OSW Jeavons collab
A winner is Mike
I would like a week on what you normally eat, it would be really entertaining
Nope.
Mike doesn't know how to cook, it would not be fun. Mike does X cookbook would be a lot more fun, make him try to do something.
@@callynd Well, Grace will do/does the cooking anyway 😄
This is what he normally eats
And have him cook it too. The whole lot would end up plastered in grated cheese.
Pot noodle really knows their target group. Giving all the debressed students some motivational one liners to cheer them up.

You know it's a real week on when Mike starts talking about his poops
I guess the only issue would be the lack of real nutriention and the explosion of sodium intake which will make you lethargic given the time frame.
And death from gut ache
I dread to think about his blood pressure.

Bombay bad boy is clear, I could eat just that flavour for 7 days
Mike every time ~I see a new series from you I love it even more, keep uip the amazingly entertaining work!

I am reminded of Reeves & Mortimer's Slade At Home sketches and their variously dinner, lunch and breakfast flavoured Cup-A-Soups.
I salute you! Tough challenge that. I’m interested to know what your first meal was after the ordeal was over
You should've done this video last December they had a limited edition Xmas Dinner pot noodle then. I enjoyed it

you would use room temp water to make pot noodles?
@@lukebostwick1070 no, I would microwave it first (didn't have a kettle). Hot vodka is not good.

man needs to go to the nearest asian market and discover Indomie, Samyang, and Nissin
Samyang's hot noodles are bloody lethal but they're really nice.
Aye, this week on feels like a little bit of a missed opportunity.
Yeah a week on instant noodles would have been more interesting
You can add meat and real vegetables to pot noodles to make it healthier
