I was in the initial design for the gravemind fight in Halo 3. You were going to be on a Scarab fighting off the flood with Cortana controlling it and finally using it to fight off and open up opportunities for the chief to end up killing it with various weapons like the Spartan laser and rocket launcher. Cortana ended up making the final deathblow by using the scarabs head cannon to kill it. We had to cut it for time.
That's awesome! A lot of those scripts are actually accessible in the H3EK still, but the device_machines and actual level geometry (if there even was any) are missing. Still a dream of mine to finish that mission one day :D

I played another Halo 3 mod where you have too save Johnson and the creator got the brutes too berserk like Halo 2 s Brutes. Awesome mod btw I completed all the Boss Fights you’re mod was the first mod I ever played on MCC It was a blast and its my favourite Mod on MCC.

You would think 343 and gaming companies would pay attention to things like this and take aspects that players love from mods and put them into the game. Like actually fighting a gravemind in an actual halo games story would be amazing. Or even adding details like that into firefight options. I think that would help keep fans interested with the fan service and enjoyment.
The weapon you are thinking of is the An-94. It is a real weapon designed by the Soviet Union for its mechanized crews to have to defend themselves with. The idea is that each trigger pull will fire a hyperburst of 2 shots for greater chance to kill, also the recoil is only felt when the second bullet is fired, due to a very complex system of recoil and pulleys.
Iconic video! Luc, I’d argue that a 2-round burst is more efficient than a 3-round burst because it’s a good way to get two shots immediately on a target while saving ammo in the long run. The AN-94 is a great example of a 2-round burst weapon that can get two shots in the same spot, more or less, which benefits the user, especially if they’re untrained. It also benefits from having an insanely high cyclic rate when firing its 2-round hyper burst. In defense of 3-round burst, it’s a great way to get a high volume of fire in accurate bursts
It is actually based on the pulse carbine! I was going to try to make it with a custom model, but didn't get chance so it just uses the storm rifle model with yellow shaders. The Storm Rifle is also in this mod in it's classic blue :D

@@CloneCommander5929 Yep that's exactly right, the yellow storm rifle was going to be a placeholder while I got around to hacking together a custom model for it like the plasma caster, but I never got around to it :) It fires tracking burst shots like the Infinite Pulse Carbine :)
The people who made ultimate fire fight sand trap made a early beta map they are currently working on; you play as the banished and have similar win reward choices fighting on a flood infested area with active flood spores at the enemy spawn the game host plays as a brute the 2nd player becomes a jackal or skirmisher and the other two are elites they also have armored gutas from reach it’s incredibly underrated but it is fun
"Okay we're in a big desert and... wait, a big hole in the ground with tentacles coming out of it and dragging me down? And barbed mouthhooks? OMG it's a Sarlacc pit! But that's not Halo, that's Star Wars! WTF is going on???"
AN 94 is a limited run AR that has a 2 shot mode in real life, the goal of it was to improve the hit probability of the average soldier. Idea being to fire a second round before the recoil affects the user, making it more likely for 2 shots to hit the target than just one (this is important for body armour penetration). It did its job as intended, but was not really adopted as the internal mechanisms that allowed it to this meant it was complicated/expensive to manufacture, and would make it hard to train soldiers to dismantle it in the field for cleaning, making unsuitable for general service.
^GreenKnight's mods are insane and I'm really thankful to be able to use their tags in Ultimate Firefight :D They definitely are gamechanging and worth checking out if you ever try the mod again!
3:12 I think your thinking of the AN-94, it's a real firearm used by the Russian VDV and Spetznaz, if you think it's odd you need to understand how weird it is on the inside, litteraly has gears and pulleys that make the hyperburst work, forgotten weapons did a breakdown of how it works if your interested
Raw plasma = Lava Pistol I can only assume its like firing the unrefined like raw plasma from its battery. I can only imagine the apsolute horror when creating that type of plasma pistol. XD
I think a cool idea for the companion feature would be being able to choose from your different games’ multiplayer Spartans. Don’t know how hard that would be, but it would be badass

Once you've beat the gravemind and make it to round 7, he can randomly spawn during other boss waves, one of which is the scarab, so this is 100% possible :D

It's cooler than anything 343 has put out because thats the nature of fan created content such as mods, bound to be better than what is finally allowed to release since who knows more about what the fans want, than the fans themselves
That was awesome!! The gravemind fight reminded me of the Ark Aberration bossfight of Rockwell where you destroy mutated tentacles to attack the REAL boss!!
IMO, it would be better to focus on making a game taking place earlier in the Human-Covenant War where you play as a regular marine or Army trooper. (ODST does not count and for many good reasons.)
@@revolverswitch Not really. What I had in mind was a FPS Halo game but with more realistic gameplay (even ODST still has the player shield mechanic, just renamed). Kind of like Battlefield and Halo mixed together but with more realistic and lore-based gameplay (not completely lore-based, as having your face burnt off by a plasma bolt flying too close to your head would not be fun).
@@andyfriederichsen yea ngl, the potential for Halo to branch out into more genres is still untapped. Personally for ODST, I wanted to see it depicted in the traditional tom clancy style tactical shooter. The halo mods for Arma 3 and swat 4 show that it can work very well.

The gun you call a pulse carbine is actually a storm rifle from halo 4/5. It was the base model for the plasma caster in the mod
