The one at 7:38 sounds like a warcry from the Gravemind to all the Flood that were in that ship that crashed at Voi, which is super creepy if we consider that the Gravemind is far away in the infested High Charity, and yet he is aware that humans and elites were trying to stop the infection from spreading on Earth.

I think I can further explain the Cortana skull. As mentioned, it is the blind skull and was meant to be found there. However, that raises the question why the blind skull is found on Sierra 117 as well. Halo 3's code has a list of strings which were likely meant to be clues to skull locations in the UI but were never used. For blind the hint was 'Interred within her tomb.' clearly indicating the blind skull was meant to be found in Cortana, where it remains to this day. The most interesting string however is the one labelled Assassin - 'Interred where heroes fall.' This indicates the Assassin skull was meant to return in Halo 3 and be found at the cliff's edge in Sierra 117 (Where heroes fall). Here is an obscure but interesting one, there is evidence that Doctor Halsey was originally meant to be the main villian of Halo 5. A display of a very early Halo 5 Level Menu has the mission description of "The secret of Halsey is out and the UNSC Forces are quickly discovering. Objective: Destroy the Forerunner Warship and retrieve the Intel Chips" but theres more to it than that, Post-Halo 4 Halo Media seriously seems to be hinting at this very strongly. At the end of Spartan Ops, Halsey makes it very clear that she "wants revenge" on ONI for trying to kill her, and in the Halo Comics, Halsey gets extremely close to activating Humanitys Reclamation itself, with an imprint of the Librarian recommending to activate Design Seeds on a particular Planet, which will build a forge megastructure around the planet, along with having vast Forerunner Fleets buried on its many Moons, "For Defence and Reconnisance"...some people have suggested that the image of the Planet looks incredibly similar to Genesis, a Green, cloudy Planet. Might be a stretch, but what if one of the "Forerunner Warships" that must be destroyed in the Halo 5 mission was activated by Dr. Halsey for reconnisance, to collect these 'intel chips'? Personally I would have loved it if Halsey went off the deep end in Halo 5 and tried to claim the mantle for Humanity under her deadly rule. Of course, this idea fell through, then it was the Composed Didact, then they setteled on Cortana.

I definitely want that crashed ship to be fleshed out further but I don't want it to be the endless. I think that having it be an extragalactic species that was doing reconnaissance into the milky way for potential expansion would be a lot more interesting and it would crack open the halo universe for future stories.
An extragalactic power that lost a colony in the satellite galaxy to the rings and sees the milky way as hostile because of it might have better story potential than most of 343's writing. That, or an outside power that found out about the flood and wants to exterminate the galaxy to ensure they're stopped.
That bit about the "Brute Skill Skull" cracks me up because it reminds me of so many times me and friends referred to things by completely made up names or did things that didn't make sense. When I was in primary school, me and a bunch of friends who played Halo had mistook a line of dialogue from Captain Keyes in Halo 1. In the very first part of the first level when Master Chief is in the cryo lab with the technician, Keyes calls down into the room on the PA system and orders for Chief to be sent up to the bridge. The guy says "Captain we'll have to skip the weapons diagnostics and I-" and Keyes cuts him off and said "On the double, crewman." My friends and I thought Keyes was addressing the guy by his name, and that his name was "Croman." And we regularly included "Croman" in different games we'd play during school or recess.
I always thought that ship was just a derelict ancient human ship that was just flying endlessly through space without its crew who was killed by the Halo array. It managed to fly close to the ring and was allowed in orbit because it was human in origin but crashed since nobody inside was alive. The automated distress went off but there was nobody left out there that could receive the signal since everybody in the galaxy at that point was reset.
The Ancient Text mystery didn't make the list? It's great because it predates the Glyph mystery, is still being expanded 15 years later (via Infinite and Halo: Epitaph), and hasn't been confirmed to mean nothing like Marty did with the Glyphs. *Ancient Text Supremacy*
The ghost of Lockout resonates with me a lot. And I think I have a high level explanation (because it happened to me). Waaaay back in like 2008, I was new to Halo 3 and jumped into some random recent player's custom lobby. I could hear and talk to them, however, I didn't show up on the scoreboard and I didn't have animations (similar to the ghost of Lockout). This took place on High Ground and started a gamer friendship between me and 'Aero n hman' and 'psycosergio'. This earned me the nickname "Ghost" while in our games. The best gaming memories. I'm sure there was some sort of network error or dsync or otherwise but it was definitely the same situation as Lockout.
after a while it did get confirmed that yes, it was essentially caused by network issues. iirc, if someone somehow had their connection interrupted while loading into the match, they wouldn't be booted and would gain that weird state of being in-between
If I recall correctly, the tri gate is located in the lake of Delta Halo. You should be able to find it roaming around down there. One of the running theories was that it contained a room with every single weapon in the game -- even cut weapons.
The ODST glyphs mystery makes me miss the days when games put genuine effort into achieving stimulating us with mystery. And not just pumping out content
I always thought this ship was just an early hint of what happened to the galaxy after the Halos shot (if I remember correctly, this Guiltyspark side story in the second mission). I thought that the ship was abandoned because the entire crew simply disappeared, and after a while the ship crashed against the installation. That's why no one got off the ship. Because there is literally no one.
In the Halo 4 or H2A terminals not sure exactly which, there's one about Guilty Spark investigating the crashed ship and he makes mentions to 'interlopers'. There were living beings on the ship. Also, in the lore, the breach on the Cold Storage Halo 3 DLC map was caused by the interlopers.
So, you think that this random ship, from a random species of unidentifiable design, was floating for dozens of thousands of years before it just happened to crash-land on a Halo Ring?
@@bigdaddyneronot entirely impossible, there may have been multiple ships that were in space at the time they fired, and this one just happened to be adrift for some time until the ring got in the way, however now I think of something that may disprove this theory, the ship was sending a distress call, which means something was definitely in the ship, but my question is, how did it crash?
Also the rings don't make people 'disappear' they destroy the nerve system or something like that, so whatever was on the ship if it happened at the time the rings fired, they would've still been inside, just lying dead, could explain why nothing exited the vessel
@@Anonymous-yq6wy The odds of it suddenly landing on a thin ring, as opposed to literally every other facet of space in the galaxy is as close to impossible as something can get. I was pointing out how dumb and unlikely the theory was. What most people decided on, for years now, was that this was a ship from outside of the galaxy. Now, people think it's the endless/Xelanyn
Kind of interesting that the Endless boss was named Harbinger, and that the crashed ship that Guilty Spark saw looks like a Reaper...who in Mass Effect are 'led' by the original one, Harbinger. I always figured the ship was an easter egg reference, and if they do eventually connect the Endless with it that makes it seem even moreso.
It feels amazing to have a halo lore video after all this time. This gave me flash backs to my old halo days where I'd scavenge for every crumb of lore, thanks for the cup of nostalgia!
Honestly, part of why I love Halo so much (other than the fact that it's just amazing in so many ways and on so many levels) is because the Flood are so much more than your generic space zombies. They're truly existentially terrifying while still being horrific in a very physical and visceral way. I'd argue that they're the most terrifying zombie/parasite/assimilator in fiction. The only other thing that even comes close for me, is the Beast from the Homeworld Franchise.
I am not sure who did the voice of mendicant bias as the mystery. However, I think looking back on it, I remember watching ghost ship a horror film. In that scene where the little girl shows one of our characters how the ship became a ghost ship. The background plays with music, called my little box. With the similar creepy voices mendicant bias makes. I’m not sure but either way it’s worth looking into I’ve mentioned that in another video. I didn’t think about that, until I actually saw those videos of mendicant bias, speaking. Then surprisingly enough going back and watching a clip from ghost ship I can hear the same voices in the background in that music my little box.
The biggest halo mistery is "how did 343 fuck up Halo so badly when they were virtually handed success on a plate." They could have have just made more of the same that Bungie made and fans would lap it up. I know I would love it if 343 copied Bungie, even half-arsed.
The ship on Alpha Halo looks kinda like a Reaper from Mass Effect; it could have just be an easter egg at first. I like the idea of it being a Xalanyn ship though, working easter eggs into the lore of a later game is one of the best parts of long-running franchises.
I remember being a 12 year old in 2006 becoming obsessed with the mystery of the tri-gates in halo 2. There were many rumors about what they were or what they might do. The fact that there are parts of halo 2 that were cut but the locations were left in the game (like the one on The Great Journey) made these ideas feel somewhat possible. I also remember scouring headlong up and down for hours trying to find a way to get the golden warthog. The internet was so mysterious and fun back then. It was like a bunch of kids on the playground just making stuff up lol
I know I am a week late, but this video literally shocked me. Marathon was the very first PC game I have ever played and I fell in love with it. Seeing it make a return at all brings my heart to the melting point, I just can't wait!
The Mendicant Bias messages are my favorite. The audio effects are just perfect for the Omnipotent AI, and so do the Gravemind's. I have come up with a theory that the chant in Halo 3 at 7:45 is the collective will of the Flood, but it is also very.... Precursor. Is it the Gravemind? I think so, but the music is in the language of the Precursors. Moments like these gave me the save vibes as MGS 2. Ah, a great time in our past. If Halo returns. I would like Offensive Bias to do something similar. Or, depending on how the end of the Didact goes, maybe him in his last redemption.
The opening was a bit too scary. It gave me the Willie's and shivered all of my timbers. And then you bring up the box???!! Do you WANT the aliens to be free??!
To this day my best gaming memory was playing with a bungie member on Valhalla, I asked him if I got my first perfectionist medal if I could have recon - he obliged because I was a 9 year old little kid but with the sniper sitting in the water on the far end of the map I actually did it!! There’s nothing quite like that nowadays..
The floodgate song mystery is probably said by all the infected elites and humans (which means probably means also the Gravemind). Anyways, I love these mysteries.
I love to watch your Halo lore videos, for years now you've kept my love for Halo up despite the poor management of certain aspects of the games, I can't thank you enough for it. Btw, I usually like to listen to your videos when I can't sleep, it helps me relax for some reason haha Much love to you. ❤😂
This is one of my favorite videos of yours. The Nostalgia of these topics alone is a nice trip back to the mindset of "anything is possible". Hoping they keep going into a horror mystery vibe with the story expansions of Infinite.
Just the music you use in the background triggers more happy memories than any other. I really really really really really really hope they dive into the mysterious ship that crashed on Alpha in some form or fashion. That is the one that bugs me most. Maybe the Xalanyn trying to escape a genocide.
I'd love to see a lore vid where the Halo Reach data pads are mentioned, if you haven't already. Once I learned about them, I haven't stopped thinking about their significance in the larger Halo universe. Like, the concept of The Assembly is really cool, and I haven't seen it touched on too much.
bro, i love learning about these things from you. I never got to play the games when they came out so its so nice to learn about them from someone that did.
One of my most memorable times playing halo 3 was playing a few custom matches with my gaming community and having someone join with the flaming recon helmet. i remember thinking it was so cool cause you either had to be an employee at the time or had it gifted by someone at bungie.
I can’t describe how damn cool Mendicant Bias’ reversed lines are. The writing and the way in which they were integrated are one of the greatest things about halo
Mentioning the Halo 2 buttons and how every video was always set to Requiem for a Dream unlocked like a core memory for me, what the hell. I knew exactly what you were talking about
The Halo 3 Floodgate message from the Gravemind is misheard. In actuality it says "Side by side we march as one, shoulders set, blades aligned, Let our footfalls stride together, so our foes shall know our might."
I find it funny how when he talks about unsettling people by hiding something freaky in plain sight, he turns the HiddenXperia poster into a halo TV show poster
"Side by side we march as one" That is definitely the flood.. that quote alone made the flood much more terrifying to me than anything else. In CE and H2 they were scary enough with how they were introduced. But seeing how they first go from mindless creatures, to the UNSC finding them collecting bodies and making the proto-gravemind with Keyes, to discovering the gravemind, to finding out the flood evolved between the few week time between halo 2 and halo 3 and seeing this deeper and deeper intelligence the flood slowly takes as it haunts chief throughout the flood levels
Loving the nostalgia! 100% miss the times of loose information gathering on forums and word of mouth. I always think back to a time on Halo 2 where for some reason everyone thought shooting one of the cave walls on couagaltion for hours would open a portal to another map and we literally spent days trying to make this happen because of some rumor on a forum 😂
Getting Recon armor when the Road to Recon are great memories for me. High school all nighters, all in the same room, soooooo much coffee and mnt dew.....
Man I love these type of conspiracy videos from you. Great stuff as always. Favorite mystery is the alpha Halo ship for sure, the speculation regarding the endless is just so juicy.
I love how halo has so many Easter eggs that no one considered the floating button a glitch lol. Not saying it’s not an Easter egg, Just love how everything feels intentional and deep in halo.
I thought it was flood from another galaxy. They didn't come out because they were waiting to attack something, the gases coming out could have infected something. They turned the signal off because they new nothing was going to take a chance. Then it got locked up 🤷♂️......
We NEED the Prophets back. The fact that the remaining Prophets fled to the shield world “Cloister” to protect themselves from the firing of the Halos is awesome. They are my favorite species and I wish they came back in some capacity
haha, that requiem for a dream music wasnt exclusive to those videos. that music, the x-files theme, that evanescence song, and clubbed to death from the matrix were all over youtube back then
I enjoy seeing you move around and get into the content. It's a nice change of pace, and I think it helps you to not be another talking head type of creator (you already weren't a "talking head" creator since your editing shows enough gameplay/relevant footage/big movements so you're good there))
early on the forerunners were not imagined to be another species but instead ancient humanity itsself, they eventually changed it but in this case it just added to the cryptic and mysterious atmosphere
Was it ever officially confirmed or denied if there were personalized halo 3 copies on Xbox 360? Years ago I saw a video of someone investigating this but I can't find the video. Essentially every copy of halo 3 upon release had a slight difference in it (according to the theory) and I found it extremely interesting even though I am well aware that this level of detail would be difficult if not impossible to employ, unless perhaps it was on a smaller scale like 1 out of 5 copies of halo 3 had an Easter egg that other copies didn't have
That's the type of next-level logistical impossibility that wouldn't just go undiscovered or unreported. If it were true, someone would have said something.
Very entertaining! I also like the delivery, not taking the subject extremely seriously, but leaving room for a hint of humour amidst the mysteries explanations (did I use "Amidst" correctly? I don't normally use this word but it felts like it was the right moment to use it 😂)
Man, that glyph explanation really reminds me of Blade Runner 2049 and a video essay from Like Stories of Old, "In Search of the Distinctly Human | The Philosophy of Blade Runner 2049." I also felt that same desire to know more after watching Neon Genesis Evangelion. I read some of the bible and bunch of other stuff after watching that anime.
I am not meaning to be rude, but I can't tell if the plasma rifle is just bigger than I expected or if you're just not a very big dude. You're by far my favorite UA-camr so keep it up dude!
I feel like this channel, and all the other Halo ones that spawned around the time of Infinite, literally RUGPULLED us! We spent countless hours on here getting our hopes up to the point we thought the Flood was going to return, forerunners would finally be revealed (not Prometheans), the Mysteries of Installation 01(or whatever one Halo Infinite takes place on), all for it to go up in smoke! THANKS 343!
Me when the funny Oni agents (the covenant) come to my house to “talk” after leaking their funny secrets (literally 1984) *The Nova bomb under my home*
I really like how they're drawing parallels between Mendicant Bias and the Biblical Cain in the hidden dialogue. Cain being doomed to wander the Earth seeking forgiveness for slaying Abel is a nice parallel for Mendicant being imprisoned for 100k years and reflecting on only atonement.
I'm not sure it counts as a mystery since it was a Halo book reference, but that optional hidden console in Halo 3 Cortana you could interact with to see the Cortana vision where she talks about "the coin", that was my favorite. So cryptic, and absolutely no explanation in the games what she meant

after a while it did get confirmed that yes, it was essentially caused by network issues. iirc, if someone somehow had their connection interrupted while loading into the match, they wouldn't be booted and would gain that weird state of being in-between

If I recall correctly, the tri gate is located in the lake of Delta Halo. You should be able to find it roaming around down there. One of the running theories was that it contained a room with every single weapon in the game -- even cut weapons.
I hope halo gets back to being a mega franchise. It has so much amazing lore
It won't happen until 343 is gone.
4:15 i can’t be the only person who noticed the halo tv show in the background when luke is talking about the best way to unsettle an audience ☠️
I saw that and was like “hold up….” 😭😭
The ODST glyphs mystery makes me miss the days when games put genuine effort into achieving stimulating us with mystery. And not just pumping out content
The ODST mystery is likely still not solved
No my guy, it very clearly seems to have been solved, and the answer is the real mystery glyphs were the friends we made along the way.
Now THIS is classic HiddenXperia
Straight into my veins
I always figured the ship was an easter egg reference, and if they do eventually connect the Endless with it that makes it seem even moreso.
or what if... the harbinger.... is actually a song from DOOM 2016 NO WAY!!!
I noticed the ship looked like a Reaper too but just thought of it as a coincidence lol
It feels amazing to have a halo lore video after all this time. This gave me flash backs to my old halo days where I'd scavenge for every crumb of lore, thanks for the cup of nostalgia!
The internet isnt the same without all the old halo 2 conspiracy videos around. I use to spend all day watching them.
We met as enemies, arguing about the truth of Halo ages ago, but this ring will make us brothers!
I love that you used Arby n the Chief clips! The nostalgia 😭
Honestly it's what I love about the Halo universe, it just seems so empty and mysterious I love it
The biggest halo mistery is "how did 343 fuck up Halo so badly when they were virtually handed success on a plate." They could have have just made more of the same that Bungie made and fans would lap it up. I know I would love it if 343 copied Bungie, even half-arsed.
I loved the more comedic editing style of this video, as well as you moving around more, it feels more visually engaging and allows for funny gags.
The ship on Alpha Halo looks kinda like a Reaper from Mass Effect; it could have just be an easter egg at first.
I like the idea of it being a Xalanyn ship though, working easter eggs into the lore of a later game is one of the best parts of long-running franchises.
The landcrashed ship of Alpha Halo is really the mystery I love the most
I love these types of Halo videos! Thank you!
Just came back from the gym, just to see a "1 minute ago" Xperia's video! It still hot from the oven! I'm excited to watch this! ❤
Hope you had a good lift friendo
@@HiddenXperia It was amazing, I just love the "Sexy Prophet" one.
Yes
I do want the aliens freed
FREE THE PRAWNS!!!
Yes
@@HiddenXperia Yo!
He agrees with me!!
Loved the new video HiddenXperia. Keep them coming. I know new material is hard to come by. As a Halo fan, thank you for all that you do for the fans.
I live to see the day when Mendicant Bias becomes actively involved in the games
Came back to this video at 10:04 and was delighted to hear “what is literally me doing in a 7/11”
This video gives off old school nostalgia not only for halo but also for UA-cam. A good old UA-cam video. 👍
I've looked forward to these classic videos returning. Glad you brought this stuff back my dude!
Me to it's been along time.
bro, i love learning about these things from you.
In actuality it says
"Side by side we march as one,
shoulders set, blades aligned,
Let our footfalls stride together,
so our foes shall know our might."
Looking back at these really takes me back! It really felt like Mysterious ARGs that were soo amazingly disturbing. 😅
Always love seeing someone reference Arby n' the Chief. 11/10 series, even today.
I really missed these kind of videos. Where did the curiosity of gaming went in the last 10 years.
Feels good to see one of these videos again, feels just like old times
Halo mysteries are some crazy deep stuff, hope to see Mendicant bias, or even a last precursor there is a lot they can add on the lore
Requiem for a Dream is just an EPIC song and so many halo videos back in the day had it
I find it funny how when he talks about unsettling people by hiding something freaky in plain sight, he turns the HiddenXperia poster into a halo TV show poster
Comment for boosting due to the vid being nuked
Love these kind of vids💪🏼 keep the good work up Luke
My day is always made fantastic when there is a new HiddenXperia video to watch!
The Alpha Halo Ship is SO intriguing
I thought it was flood from another galaxy. They didn't come out because they were waiting to attack something, the gases coming out could have infected something. They turned the signal off because they new nothing was going to take a chance. Then it got locked up 🤷♂️......
16:00 the glyphs were always so mysterious
Of course we want more lore related videos! Hidden Xperia is literally the king of Halo Lore🤷♂️
We NEED the Prophets back. The fact that the remaining Prophets fled to the shield world “Cloister” to protect themselves from the firing of the Halos is awesome. They are my favorite species and I wish they came back in some capacity
bit off topic, but i’ve always wondered about your opinion on RvB. both as a show and in relation to halo
well if you want my opinion which you probably don’t anything after S13 is filler because I don’t like it lol
haha, that requiem for a dream music wasnt exclusive to those videos.
that music, the x-files theme, that evanescence song, and clubbed to death from the matrix were all over youtube back then
18:45 I remember watching that vid back in 2006 and thinking how terrifying it was that the “ghost” just appeared behind core and just stared.
I enjoy seeing you move around and get into the content. It's a nice change of pace, and I think it helps you to not be another talking head type of creator (you already weren't a "talking head" creator since your editing shows enough gameplay/relevant footage/big movements so you're good there))
Lowkey 343i should make the assassin armor for Infinite
Love this idea for videos, Halo's canon is so full of mystery :)
3:18 underrated transition, amazing
early on the forerunners were not imagined to be another species but instead ancient humanity itsself, they eventually changed it but in this case it just added to the cryptic and mysterious atmosphere
I don't normally use this word but it felts like it was the right moment to use it 😂)
Man, that glyph explanation really reminds me of Blade Runner 2049 and a video essay from Like Stories of Old, "In Search of the Distinctly Human | The Philosophy of Blade Runner 2049."
I also felt that same desire to know more after watching Neon Genesis Evangelion. I read some of the bible and bunch of other stuff after watching that anime.
12:07 hey, that kinda looks like Cavallino
THANKS 343!
Me when the funny Oni agents (the covenant) come to my house to “talk” after leaking their funny secrets (literally 1984)
*The Nova bomb under my home*
I really like how they're drawing parallels between Mendicant Bias and the Biblical Cain in the hidden dialogue. Cain being doomed to wander the Earth seeking forgiveness for slaying Abel is a nice parallel for Mendicant being imprisoned for 100k years and reflecting on only atonement.
Great video Hidden! Deffo enjoyed the new style. Whats that electric guitar you got in the background? :)
THE VIBES OF THIS VIDEO. LOVE THE VIBES
Great video, thanks for still loving halo and making content about it
I'm not sure it counts as a mystery since it was a Halo book reference, but that optional hidden console in Halo 3 Cortana you could interact with to see the Cortana vision where she talks about "the coin", that was my favorite. So cryptic, and absolutely no explanation in the games what she meant
I love how you changed the picture on your wall.
This video is so good. 10/10 👏🏻 I love these mysteries, they're fun and interesting.
Bungie had some insane secret and puzzles, that they took with them to the Destiny franchise.
