Fantasia (Pierino Fiorentino) (Firenze, 1523-Roma, 1552) Viola de Mano: Alexander Batov, 2009 Recorded & mixed by Eng. Ariel Gato at estudio.ar Video by Ariel Gato
Everything about this is wonderful: the piece, the playing, the instrument, the recorded sound. You make me want to buy a viola... it would fit in an airplane's overhead compartment...
No conocía el instrumento, aunque me recuerda a la vihuela de mano española. No en vano, vihuela es un arcaísmo de viola. Y la había también de arco. Magnífica interpretación. Doblemente agradecido por tratarse de un repertorio poco usual
Perino is the spelling on the title page of a print with his pieces, although within the print the pieces are spelled Pierino, his proper name. Even his gravestone is spelled Pierino. Alas the title page spelling has been accepted by bibliographers.

@@99AJN Right. But Pierino is the diminutive of Piero which is the diminuitive of Pietro (Peter). So Perino could be a diminutive of Pierino.
Marco's gravestone which his father installed in the La Scala church (now site of the famous theater) surely would have spelled his name correctly.
