Them rod holders I’m using are Takedown Rod Holders if any of you are wondering they are great quality and affordable. They come in all different colors and some glow under UV.
Man it’s been years since I’ve fished the Ky river, years ago there used to be a boat ramp down at Camp Nelson, we used to put the boat in there and then head up the river towards the Dix, but there used to be a lot of good holes all along through there, I don’t know how it is anymore. Used to be pretty good down at Boonesborough and up to that lock and dam, I don’t remember what lock that is? Another good place was at Monterey, the dam up there, especially if you’re bank fishing. And below about all the locks and dams on the Ky river is good Sauger fishing, especially this time of year. Nice Blue 👍👍
I’m not familiar with those places, I am familiar with Monterey and I have heard it’s good fishing there aswell. I haven’t had much luck there but I usually go other places. I have heard about the sauger I’d like to try for some in the Kentucky River one day. I usually fish sauger at the Falls of Ohio in Louisville.
@@geoffbohartfishing - Camp Nelson is on the other side of Nicholasville, off 27, before 27 goes over the Ky river. You’ll see a sign for camp Nelson cemetery, that was a old civil war encampment. Like I said I haven’t been there in years, used to be pretty good fishing, even from the bank. Yeah the Ohio river below the dams are good Sauger fishing, around the Falls of the Ohio, you ever heard of that? I believe that’s up near Louisville? Never been there either but have heard a lot about it. I live in lexington myself, grew up around the NE end of Lex.

Hey nice video. Definitely earned a new subscriber, I've been looking for some spots I'm located in london ky and have fished live and cut shad in our local waters ( Cumberland and laurel river) for the last couple years without any luck. Where abouts are you located or do you know any good access to a good spot on the ky River? Thanks.
I usually have the best luck out of shad during the cooler water temps. Temps above 45-50 degrees I use skipjack, cut/live creek chubs, and bluegill during the warm months. As far as places to fish along the Ky River if I was you I would google Fish and Game boat ramps along it or use the OnX hunting app to find public land. Then google a Nautical Chart of the section of river and look for deep holes or a lot of ledges. Some charts show sandbars and rock piles aswell. I will make a whole video covering how to use a nautical chart and onX to find great public fishing spots asap.
I am using cut up Gizzard Shad and Threadfin Shad I catch using my throw net. They seem to like them a lot because they are naturally a big part of their diet!
Top secret 🤫 I’m kidding I’ll be making a video on how to find bank fishing spots along the Kentucky River. Just not giving out my exact spots. Took a while to figure out how to find spots without other people showing me or having someone cross my line. 🤣
@geoffbohartfishing I mainly fish the Ohio but for the past 2 months I haven’t been able to fish my normal spot cause the water is up 35+ feet so I’m just exploring new options
I fish pretty much the entire NKY area. For Blue Catfish I mainly fish the Ohio River and Kentucky River. There are a lot more fish in the Ohio River due to the bourbon spills a few years back.
No I can’t do that. I found my spots myself using them tools. A good fishermen should be able to go out and learn the area. Highly unlikely to catch anything at pressured areas.
@@outdoorsman8498 I made a video covering good places to start at on the KY River. Look on KY fish and game website and try to find public land or boat ramps along the KY river. Or the majority of the locks along the river are public.

Man them big Blues are good eating! Just remove the red lateral line and the yellow meat and you'll have some excellent eating!

It was, especially where it got tangled up I wasn’t sure how big it was.
💞Wow💛💛💗💗💛💗💗
What locks you fishing.
Just dropped a video on where I fish.
I am bank fisherman I don’t have boat but where would be some good spot in Kentucky I live in Edmonton Kentucky
I use the OnX hunting app to find public easements to the River. You could also look for KDFW boat ramps to find bank access.
What are you using for bait?
I am using cut up Gizzard Shad and Threadfin Shad I catch using my throw net. They seem to like them a lot because they are naturally a big part of their diet!
Where at on the Kentucky River is this brother man???
