    This is probably your first back country hunt. Live and learn, but you’ll 100% not take much of that gear the next time you do this.
    Get rid of these:
    Zip ties (truck)
    Extra underwear (just wear one)
    Extra socks (wear one, pack one)
    Side arm (it’s Colorado)
    Love that huge knife but it’s useless
    Contractor bags (maybe have 1) put your trash in your daily zip loc bag.
    Rope lights (get a headlamp)
    Life straw is useless
    Tape (take some duct tape/electric tape and wrap it around your trekking poles, leave the roll in your truck)
    Yeti, water will be cold. It’s Colorado.
    Good luck! Again, you’ll learn what works best but this may help you get over that initial learning curve.

      Yeah it was my first backcountry hunt, definitely learned I can shed a good amount of gear from this first trip. I appreciate the insight though. Next year will be a lot lighter now that I know what I did/didn’t need.

    Great list. Lots of gear. But well thought out and very prepared. Love the big knife! There’s a lot of value in sentimental value. Hopefully you had a good time and learned a lot.

    Make sure you take the light off that Ultraview. No electronics allowed on your bow in CO.

    How did the waypoint gear work early season? Was it to hot? Did you ever end up wearing it? Just what was your experience with the at gear? It’s pretty warm stuff so just want to know if you used it a lot

      @thwaack  Рік тому

      I used it early season and it held up well. A bit cold in the mornings but once the sun broke out I was in the quarter zip most of the day. I was happy with how they performed

    So what's the weight of your pack after all your gear is packed? 60ish?

    • @thwaack
      @thwaack  Рік тому +1

      Yeah correct, it was close to 60lbs.
