Before MPJ got injured, this draft had like four guys who you could debate going first. This draft was loaded at the top and history will only look even more fondly on it as the years pass.
15 and 8 in 25 min for a raw rookie, his work ethic is underrated. Will become a superstar, he’s also weak his body will be different year 4 and I feel confident saying that because of his work ethic. Look at Giannis
One of the best, most professional breakdowns on a player that I've seen. Great work! I was at draft night and was stoked we got Bagley! This guy is gonna be a Superstar!!! Blessed Bagley
In transition he seems more quick than most 6'11 big men, his lateral quickness and the ability to leap towards 2nd chance opp. already gives him a good start to become a great player. His decision making and BBIQ on both sides are symptoms most rookies tend to experience, so ironing out those problems won't be an issue.
That part about drafting Luka only being worth it if he’s a sure 1st team all NBA MVP caliber player got answered quicker than most of us thought I guess. I wonder what Kyle Man would say now about 1 year after that video about that whole topic. Marvin missed a lot of games and thus didn’t quite fulfill his promise. Meanwhile Luka played some significant ball in Dallas. Additionally someone like jaren jackson over in Memphis who was drafted right after Bagley also seems to outperform him and having him, in contrast to luka and trey would not intersect with Sacramento having Fox as their ballhandler
He will be a star for Sacramento forsure! Has so much potential! All they really need is that one star to completely break out into allstar form. If him and fox and heild all show up next year and almost all 3 average 20 a game they will be a good playoff team.
Talk about Mitchell Robinson. Has an interesting backstory which made him a 2nd round pick. Also a 5 who can jump out the gym, guard the perimeter, is a blocking Messiah, and plays under 20 minutes.
The Ringer's edu-vids are some of the very, very best on UA-cam. not just in terms of basketball videos, i mean in general; the presentation, the pacing, the information, the length, the content. i'm a die-hard basketball fan but it's not hard to see that these videos could be interesting to *anyone* interested in sports
@@mrazcatazz yeah i think that's who i meant. My bad, The Ringer has great presentation and is a bigger brand so i might have just autopiloted th at one. Definitely meant The Dime Drop
Look out! Luka got his Mavs gang fighting for the 6th spot while the Kings young talents can't even get them to 30 wins. But that Bogdan Bogdanovic gon look good wearing another jersey for a playoff team looking for his shooting and playmaking.
I believe Marvin is an MVP level talent. Offensively, he’s Anthony Davis with a sturdier body. I see him taking leaps and bounds if he continues to work hard. Fringe all-star next season and All-NBA potentially by year 3.
Ssshhh don't remind those Suns and Kings fans. They are never gonna hear the end of it when they keep seeing in media that Doncic can get his team in the playoffs. Meanwhile Suns/Kings got their own bunk ass bigs trying to post up and not do PnRs/DHOs and succeed in this modern NBA. Good luck with them at that point.
You hit the nail on the head with "who's kicking themselves" people need to realise that fox's maturation and growth into the blossoming superstar he is now wouldn't be possible with Luka's ball dominance and slower play style, they're both possible franchise goats and MVPs and bagley perfectly compliments fox while porzingus does the same for doncic
Came here to say this. Even with Doncic exceeding expectations, picking Bagley was the right call. It shows that the organization gets it. I think that, as much as teams want to stockpile overall talent and just "make it work" that's not a way to build a team for the long haul. The next few years are gonna be so exciting for Mavs, Kings, and Hawks fans. I don't know about Suns, sorry Ayton :(
@@njstuckey did 42 pct fg and 32 pct 3s and the worst defense in the nba really exceed ur expectations for a rookie who's really in his 5th pro season? Wow, u must've had pretty lo expectations lol
I don't know why the per 36 #s were not used for Bagley. Or how every game he just kept getting better and better. His Summer League was a disaster a part from the first quarter in the Summer Classic. He has grown so much sense his debut. He truly wasn't ready for the NBA game 1. Now he is a franchise player. Free throw attempts usually tell that story.
Definitely the next K.D 2.0. Young man has faith in God and great family support and heart. Think he is 20 with all star ability. He will continually develop. Definitely. God bless the Bag family.
I was wondering that myself but I don't know if even the lowly suns would be kicking themselves over this one. While DA may never be Shaq he is still a pretty good scoring big. If they can draft a defense PF they may be ok.
At first I didn't realize that this was a three year old video. It kind of sucks that Bagley had such a good start and if you look at his numbers over the past 4 years they're almost exactly the same every year. He's a 14 pts and seven rebound guy. But there is a bright side to all of this. Number one is he still plays anywhere from 23 to 26 minutes so his numbers are actually pretty good if you stretch them out to 38 minutes or something like that. I believe that's what one of your star players will probably play. The other good thing and this is the best thing by far is that his shooting percentages have become much better last year. And 2022 or the 2021 2022 season he it at 55%, which was many points higher than any previous year. So it's taken several years for Bagley to change his numbers in any way for the better but even though the numbers look the same last year he did it on much higher efficiency and so he may be moving towards being an above average or even good big man. Maybe a top seven or eight big man in the league but he's not quite there yet. I'm writing this in September of 2022 so let's see how next season goes?
Dude's only 19 he'll be a 10 to13 year all-star. Freakishly athletic, great work ethic, willingness to learn from others, teachable, better defender than people thought and getting better, developing three point shot, not afraid to rebound, good low post game, good passer and getting better. Young with plenty of time to get better. Potential to seriously average 30 pts 15 rebs a game. He will be considered the top draft pick of 2018 when all is said and done.
How good is the 2018 draft class, potential and ability through out the 1st and 2nd round picks, the first 5 are all currently good to great nba players and even further back bamba, mpj, Robinson, brunson to name some have potential
Did this dude just say above average fluidity and speed for his size? Hes literally the fastest big in the nba wtf kind of understatement is this shit?
Damn those clips of him going to his right were just atrocious. He totally freaked out and didn't know what to do. Your in the NBA now. Time to put in the hours.
The Kings should be good if they stay healthy and Marvin develops. Fox is an All-Star. Buddy is one of the best 3 point shooters in the NBA Barnes is a capable 3rd/4th banana Bjelica is a solid stretch 4 that sometimes shoots nearly 40% from 3. Bagley is 20-10 waiting to happen.
Wing span is so important. Even just playing a pick up game I've said to myself, "I think I'm better than this guy. Why does it seem like hes beating me at the rim every time? He's not even taller than me." Then... "Oh. His fucking arms are so god damn long..."
Bagley reminds me of Anthony Davis with a more sturdy frame but not as long. He can have a similar impact due to his motor, I would say somewhere between a Pascal Siakim game and AD level takeover capabilities. He has a rare magnetism that defenses are forced to collectively draw attention to him because of his abilities. His jump-shot, post game, slashing, and transition offer a rare combination of offensive prowess only seen in the likes of greats in the NBA like AD, LeBron, Giannis, Embiid. He could end up the Sacramento Kings’ first or second best player by the end of the season next year.
Dude is barely 20 years old. He is going to be an all star essy. His speed and quickness is ridiculous for being 6"11. He doesn't move like a typical 6'11 player. His bb IQ is only going to improve at his young age. Plus he plays with a competitive chip on his shoulder. The Kings fired thier coach today. With guys like Fox Buddy Giles and Bagley on the roster potential coaches have to be salivating for that job.
Ayton, Bagley, Luka, JJJ and Trae May become one the best top 5s ever
Almost definitely
@Jordan S hahahaha
I was gonna jump on you because i read "THE BEST TOP 5"
Jordan S Ayton is fantastic
Best ever clearly Lebron,Wade,Bosh,Melo and Zaza
Before MPJ got injured, this draft had like four guys who you could debate going first. This draft was loaded at the top and history will only look even more fondly on it as the years pass.
If MPJ heals up right, this draft may go down as the biggest power shifting draft in modern NBA history.
There really isn’t a bust in the top ten. Mo is raw, and he got hurt, but he was a defensive presence when he was on the court.
From the future and I have to say still accurate. They getting hella bags.
this is a really well constructed piece. you, my friend, deserve more recognition. keep up the good work.
