Excellent analysis throughout. You are exactly right about the color tones and shadings, which kept the unrelenting tension and fear in all of Reese's flashbacks. Dark, desperate, horrible! No grass, no greenery of any kind, anywhere - just bad air, metal scraps, death, and wasteland. Awful sights AND sounds that make the story so memorable. I agree with you that any future film in this franchise should keep to the tone the first two classics set, most especially if it's to be any kind of prequel.
*Blade Runner (the original) was also remarkably constructed to show a miserable and decrepit future, with its constant rain, crime, and crumbling buildings, for those too low on the totem pole to live comfortably in the virtual clouds. At the very end, when Deckard gets Rachael out of there, we get a (literal) breath of fresh air and light. If memory serves, the later director's cut left out that nice bit.

Don't think I could say there would be anything I'd like to add to that pitch, I'd be happy watching everything you just described. Though there may be one thing, getting to see John capturing and reprogramming the T-800 he sent back for T2.

Another great video, brother, and you make a lot of good and valid points. Have you played Terminator Resistance? To me, it is a perfect prequel to the franchise. The final mission is a fever pitch of action, with the music being some of the absolute best in the franchise, not just videogames.
Thanks Big Man, its always great to hear from you ! I have not played the game just watched some videos of the gameplay online and the visuals look awesome. Certainly what I would want to see in a future film. You are spot on about the music too.

The first two Terminator films are the best the second has an amazing emotional score I liked Terminator salvation but it could have been better I like these ideas I love Aunold gotta have in any Terminator movie lol

Yes, this is exactly what I want to see. Enough of the T2 parodies and sending Terminators back in time. We literally got inferior versions of T2 for 20 years. I’m over it!!
What you need to understand though is both Kyle Reese, and T-800 were sent back through time from the same year as the T-1000 and the reprogrammed T-800... There's even a comic book series on it called "Terminator nuclear Twilight" and they did a recent game on it called "Terminator resistance". It was the year 2029... Both Reese and The Original T-800 was sent back to 1984, while the T-1000 and reprogrammed T-800 was sent back to 1995... It will all have to be one movie if it is done correctly...

I know its late, but a prequel film with Reese would've been one heck of a ride.
The closest to that was the game Terminator Resistance. What was your opinion of the game?
While not perfect, the game and company that made it captured much of the atmosphere while doing its own thing.
Your approach really works.
My terminator movie doesn't have the word, "Terminator" in it at all. There's no Sarah Connor, no John Connor, and no Kyle Reese. My Terminator movie is horror first, and scifi action a DISTANT second. I wouldn't advertise it as a Terminator style movie. There wouldn't be any spoilers in the previews. I would advertise it as a romantic comedy with no pretense or expectation of violence. It would be an absolute box office BOMB for the first couple of weeks, but those that go to see it in theaters those first couple hundred viewings would ABSOLUTELY FREAK. It would open up as the expected date night romcom for about twenty minutes, and then Terminator stuff happens, with very little to no explanation until like 45 minutes into the movie. It would have some kind of optimism mixed in with the movie, almost all the way through, and then the Terminator wins, Sarah Connor dies, John is never born, and Judgement day takes off without a hitch. Maybe put an after credits scene that hints at a John Connor style general being a bit of a badass, but let's not get TOO optimistic. If techno horror doesn't absolutely WRECK date night, why are we even here?
