    The tides are caused by the gravitational forces exerted on the earth by the moon, and to a lesser extent, the sun. Tides have nothing to do with the movement of land.

    You actually will not find dinosaur fossils here, the fossils here are up to 250 million years before dinosaurs ever walked the earth. Its really cool, it was mostly plants and some reptile like creatures and some small Carboniferous creatures. Lots if coal deposits too.

    So nothing to do with the Moon. Also freshwater lakes dont have tides, or so small tides that even the Great Lakes are considered non-tidal.
    High tide on other side of the Earth at same time cant be explained by Moon anyway.

    • @TribusMontibus
      @TribusMontibus 2 роки тому +1

      Lake Michigan has a tidal range of approx. 6 cm. Usually overpowered by other meteorological effects, but clearly visible when levels are averaged over long periods. High tide on the far side can be easily explained by the moon - as long as you understand science.

    • @Birgeyful
      @Birgeyful 2 роки тому

      @@TribusMontibus They say the Moon shifts the Earth away from the water, or something like that, to explain the high tide on other side of Earth.
      If you believe that is true I have a bridge to sell

    • @TribusMontibus
      @TribusMontibus 2 роки тому +1

      @@Birgeyful It may sound daft, but it’s not entirely incorrect. It’s a very simplistic way to describe a differential in accelerations between ‘the far side oceans’ (or any matter present on the far side of the earth) and the earth itself.
      Don’t worry, you won’t be able to ‘sell me a bridge’ on this subject. I am quite aware of the physics involved in tidal formation. Maybe one in a thousand people can explain to you why Lake Michigan has approximately 6 cm tides, while Lake Victoria and Lake Baikal have none. I am that person (I was actually supposed to go to Lake Victoria yesterday, but had to go back home because I tested positive for COVID-19 at the airport).

    • @TribusMontibus
      @TribusMontibus 2 роки тому +1

      But let me give you a friendly word of advice. You appear to be expressing a lot of incredulity about the ocean tides. If you actually find truth more important than blurting out ridicule, you’d better first look into the subject properly.
      From your first remarks I can tell that you have the same simplistic (and mistaken) viewpoints on the effects of gravitational attraction, which most people have. Indeed, if you don’t correct those views you will never understand the tides.
      There are a few videos on my channel which can help you a great deal.

    • @r.a.6459
      @r.a.6459 2 роки тому

      Flat Earth cannot explain the tides. It may explain the portion of the Earth facing the moon experiencing high tides... but how about the portion opposite to that??

    • @TribusMontibus
      @TribusMontibus 2 роки тому

      Indeed, the demonstration may be slightly inadequate, but the statement is correct; the tidal ranges in this bay are significantly increased by tidal resonance. That’s often a problem, when you have people, who don’t have a full grasp of the principle, trying to give you an explanation.

    What a lie
    High tides are caused by the moon

    • @TribusMontibus
      @TribusMontibus 2 роки тому +2

      It's not a lie, just expressed in an incomplete manner. He is right though. The height of the tide in the bay IS caused due to the occurrence of 'tidal resonance'. He just doesn't explain it very well.
      Your explanation is also incomplete. Otherwise, how can you explain the difference in tidal ranges between Halifax and Windsor? They are only some 20 km apart. The moon passes overhead both coastal cities at about the same time. Yet the difference in tidal ranges is huge.
