Orange Juice are SUCH a great band. This track gives me pre Haircut 100 vibes. My gooodness Edwyn Collins was so beyond stunningly handsome and cute, flutter.

Loved the Scottish Indie thing in my teens. Especially Orange Juice - the sound was such a quaint mix of Soul, pop and punk. So many of their tracks have a feel that they could fall apart musically at any moment 😄❤
i played you can’t hide your love forever over and over and over - mine came with a badge which i have proudly displayed above my desk - still one of my all time favourite… albums
This was 2 months before I first saw them live at Leeds Warehouse in January 1982. I seem to remember the band were very drunk that night but were still utterly brilliant - I miss them so much!
Love the energetic guitar and inventive and groovy bass work in this band, nice mixing on the drums which sound tight, and unique and passionate vocals too in this performance. Also I’m a sucker for live performances/music videos shot on film or videocassette, something is very stylish about the grain and how it captures light :)
I'm sure this is the one I saw too and similarly have been looking for all these years. I recorded it on audio cassette but almost immediately lost it to my huge regret. Something Else was BBC2 and I was sure the show I saw was ITV, but I am happy to be proven wrong.
Most unique vocals in Pop. A fucking legend. Saw them at QMU in the early eighties. Wish I'd known then I was attending a moment in history. They were fucking awesome.
I'm 70 now, just can't remember when I got a tape of this band that I've embraced their music until today that i almost forgot their music. Thanks to utube.
I wrote a song in 1979 which had virtually the same base as this. I was15. I played it in my band. And it always got a great response. Then orange juice came out with this song ….and I loved it although when I used to play my song people said sounds a bit like orange juice I never said that o wrote my song two years earlier but I took it as a compliment…… haven’t played my guitar for over 35 years but after seeing this vid I’m inspired Thank you for uploading and thank you orange juice. Love to you all
My favourite orange juice track, beautifully put together, great loner lyrics from Mr Collins. I love that I'm so different no one will ever love me but I'm so in love with you it's painful. British bands do that plastic soul post punk thing brilliantly.
Exactly like the original version but live. Junt can't understand how the public looks as if it was a Bergman film... I would jump around constantly!!!
I wrote a song for my band called “say yes “ ….everyone used to love it. I always got en-core’s when we played it …..I was 15 at the time ……..in one night on the john peel radio show I heard this song by orange juice…..… I couldn’t believe it ………….it had the same tune ,,,, melody and in particular baseline. Bear in mind this is pre-Internet so it wasn’t possible to hear music unless it was live, or on a record or on the radio. However, this moment was a revelation to me I realised I philosophical idea about universal consciousness. If you imagine for a moment that time does not exist and everything that has ever existed or exists right now, or that will exist in the future, just exists every idea every thought every concept, every physical thing exists in one big plane of consciousness. imagine, if you will, but there is a large table covered with all of these things and ideas and concepts, and you and I, and everybody else are sitting around that table, some of us have very short arms, and some of us have very long arms, those with the shortest arms can’t reach the table, I can only view the ideas concepts and things as they are lifted off by those with longer arms. Occasionally two people will pick up the same thing and I think that’s what I did along with the band orange juice……it now makes me laugh when I hear about people who believe they’ve invented something or discovered something and try and paint, it is man-made laws to restrict other peoples access to the idea that they wish to possess for themselves. How silly and selfish ……just share it in the same way that musicians and artists share their ideas. Peace and love to you all

Im 60 , I thought this was rubbish back when it was new , I was a metal head, but now I see its great !!
Better late than never.
Heheh . Told you so.
Well, in a way you're not wrong, this live version sucks.
@@gage6209I like it more than the original , matter of taste

Wow, this sounds just like the sound of young Scotland!
Just the perfect pop tune.
I met Edwyn and his wife at a train station in Luton. I almost wept. ( not because I was in Luton! )

Bass player really good…I noticed he plays mostly upstrokes with a pick…very hard to do on a fast bass line
Edwyn is awesome...A TRULY BRAVE MAN

Just lovely. Interesting to see the greatest living Briton without a guitar.
Early OJ were the best. The guitars were heaven and they looked amazing.

Orange juice is something good and important as orange juice.
That it,s early talking heads makes it even better, course
that Roddy Frame on lead guitar
Steve Daly and Malcolm Ross on guitars
@@cuchillxs Daly was the drummer. James Kirk and Malcolm Ross on guitar.

Weird to see Edwyn NOT playing guitar on this song. Immaculate arrangements nevertheless.

Interesting to realise that some of Morrissey's ways of using his voice go back to Edwyn!
Wow so true.

The best line up , orange juice went down hill when James and Stephen were replaced ? Discuss
Agreed, a total loss of incredible talent
Yes that they were influenced by early talking heads makes them even cooler

is that Paul Weller ?
Nobody Else soletrado, só Indie . Vtc.

Edwyn looks 22 and 16 at the same time

I can't spell😂
maybe the roots of the Smiths

He’s clearly annoyed at James here
Orange juice a five piece ?

Let's face it. Edwyn couldn't sing for toffee. He was truly terrible. 🤣🤣🤣 The music was nice, though.
Don't think so. He had a beautiful voice.
Christ, that was terrible.
Yeah man NO CHOPS and where’s the solo???
