There's a difference between what Mario's Side B and a normal long jump. In a long jump, Mario runs forward, and then propels himself forward. But this is him running forward, turning around last second, and propelling himself backwards using all of that forward momentum.
This is such a cool character mod, so many little Easter eggs and creativity, really cool to see what people create when you give them the freedom to do so :)

I believe that the up special is a reference to the bomb-omb trick (what I'm referring to is basically when you grab a bomb-omb right before it explodes because of it increasing in size it pushes you backwards) and it's pushing SM upwards. I think that the neutral special is a reference to the fact that people constantly mess with the eggs that you get from the castles in Super Mario World in their animations of said game.
Neutral special has more than the egg so might as well explain it. Neutral special can use a koopa shell which is just a regular koopa shell no need to explain it (plus I have no idea what the koopa shell is a reference to) however the bowser used with full charge of Neutral special is actually the bowser used in Terminalmontage's videos and his expression is of the surprised look he has in either the SM64 episode or the SMW episode(I forget which but its probably the SMW episode). The Grand Dad variation of Speedrunner Mario's taunt is an obvious reference to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (with the usual meme) and the sprite used for the 'stand' is basically the same thing as the regular Grand Dad sprite(just made to fit into Trials of Aether better).
