Kinda sad to hear you're semi-retiring from this category. Juste No OOB is honestly the most enjoyable speedrun category in Harmony of Dissonance. I'm gonna miss it. Huge congrats on the sub-35 though! Seeing how far this speedrun has come is amazing. Would love to see you do Maxim No OOB someday, it's an underrated category IMO.
Heya, just dropping a comment to thank you for the great content. Harmony was probably my least favourite post-SOTN Castlevania but coming across your channel and seeing all the crazy movement and fun strats like stacking that are involved in HoD speedruns honestly made me see the game in a much better light and now I have as much fun replaying it/watching runs as I do with the other games. So thanks again for helping me appreciate one of my favourite franchises even more!
You have to quickly hit the enemy with three separate attacks. I can't explain it very well without showing it in game but look how Jupiter uses the cross in boss fights. The cross comes first, then two whip swings follow. The last hit is held as long as possible because that's the one that deals the insane damage. The game has this weird quirk where it gets overwhelmed by three fast, consecutive attacks. You can abuse this with several sub weapon/book combos. You can also chain together a kick and a whip swing in case the enemy is flying.
@@Keycil I think "overwhelmed" might not be the correct term, the game actually does a good job of handling so many hits in such little time (over 60/s) without crashing. It's just an unintended feature. Many Castlevania games have certain glitches that are seen as features; this is probably my favorite one. It makes speedrunning HoD way more enjoyable, both for the player and the viewer. The skill involved makes it so satisfying when you pull it off 🙂
Hit an enemy with three seperate attacks in a short time frame, though some combinations don't work, and I don't understand the specifications for it. Aerial whip and ground whip are counted as seperate attacks. For crushing stone stacks, charged whip has two seperate attacks; the base of the whip, which is a small hitbox in front of Juste, and the energy release.
Good question! We define "out of bounds" as leaving the boundaries of the screen by unintended means (so anything except using a door or a normal room transition). This is an example of an in-bounds wall clip.
That's called a stack Since the GBA can calculate the fact that you can hit more than 3 times You send a cross and hit rapidly with the whip 2 times which makes the whip hit a lot ( as long as it's on the screen since it's hit per frame ) A stack can be made with multiple sub weapons and spells such as the wind cross, the axe, even the bible with the thunder book but only with crushing stone ( which is my favorite stack ) and crushing stone and fairy for the best damage stack Anyway a stack is very hard to learn since you need to think about the time the sub weapon/ spell hit and you 2 whip hit or kick n whip Ah yes you can for example launch the cross, jump, kick and immediately attack If you want to try this by yourself you can train on big slime or peeping big ( for the kick stack )
Harmony failed on visuals and soundtrack because of bad decisions. I dont complain on game mechanics, but specially the music and the character animations are horrible, the colours...
PonPon will beat this at some point, but I'm semi-retiring from this category. One of the most enjoyable speedrun grinds I've done.

@@MaskedGuyCh yeah sorry, should've specified a little I suppose. Overwhelmed wasn't the best term there.

Thanks guys, I finally managed to do it, and also did by accident the whip launch lol
Didn't you go out of bounds at 26:51? Why doesn't that count as oob?

Damn you make it look so eazy
5:55 how to u perform that increased damage glitch? i always see people do it but i dont understand how to

I'm wondering something... If we used a Codebreaker or hack to lock to level 1, how hard would it be?
Most things will one shot you mid game to end game even though you stack heal and def
Alwaya nice to see HoD runs from u :)
This is beautiful.
Id like to think you only got this good RNG because of calling out Yaksha
Juste is so powerful Belmont OMG
