  • Part of the fun with small bikes like the Honda Monkey 125 is that you can get to some really remote locations so long as the mud doesn't get too deep or the terrain too rough. Especially if you've outfitted your Monkey with off-road capable parts like I did!
In this video, my son Rennen and I go exploring during our annual trip to our summer cabin in NY on our motorcycles. I'm on my 2019 Honda Monkey 125 and Rennen is on his Husqvarna EE-5 electric bike, and we set out to find an old abandoned rock quarry that we used to trail ride to about 35-years ago when I was a kid riding with my parents on our Honda ATC's. The quarry was abandoned for as long as my parents could remember, so this means the quarry was already abandoned 50+ years ago when they were kids visiting our cabin (the cabin has been in our family for a long time!). I believe it to be a bluestone quarry, and it seems the stone taken from it was cut using saws as there are straight lines in some of the rock. The history of the quarry is unknown to us as its so old and predates any of our family's time in the area, but it resides in the middle of the woods, with only grown over trails from farm tractors that pass it to access their hay fields. It's likely the farms in the area used the original access roads carved into the mountain-side for the quarry equipment and trucks transporting the stone out. After all these years, those roads are simple one track trails in most areas, just big enough to be traveled by our motorcycles.
Discovering this old relic in the middle of the woods was fun! Rennen even had a try at some trials riding at the bottom of the quarry, testing his EE-5's ability at close proximity technical riding.
Hope you enjoyed our discovery, thanks for watching!

The bike stuff was cool, but the best part is seeing a dad spend time with his kid. The world needs more of this.

Thank you, I appreciate this a lot! I’m grateful my kids enjoy doing the things I did as a kid, so I’m reliving my youth through them at the same time!
