Very interesting to see the comparisons between the different versions. I prefer the first version with thick layers of paint. It just make the landscape more lively and dynamic than the later versions.
I love all of Vincent's painting, so much inspiration I have received from all of them! I would say that my favorite is the "Starry Night Over the Rhône" created in 1888. However, I would argue, that in the Wheat Field with Cypresses (all versions) he mixed all the hues on his palette with white first, and than applied it to the canvas. The painting has lots and lots of tints, lesser tones. In the "Starry Night" he indeed used the color straight out of the tube, especially cobalt blue.
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it

Thanks. The first one is more iconic indeed, but it's great to see how he kept on experimenting with different styles and ways of expressing himself.
The first one is my favourite painting by him. I don't know why but I love the composition, the colours and brushwork. The sky also looks amazing.
I agree with you. To me, it is the impasto brush work that make that version come more alive than the others.

Thanks. Both his starry nights are wonderful indeed!
vincent van Goghの糸杉と麦畑は死を払拭するような生命力のある絵画なのですね。作品全て印象に残ります。実妹はゴッホのファンです。日本人に生まれ変わっているような気持ちがします。
Van Gogh derived a lot of inspiration from Japanese woodblock prints. He even copied a few of them in his own style.
güzellllll. very gooddd
Thanks for watching!
