I just found your Leftovers reactions. This is one of my favourite shows. It's so great, all three seasons.
Matt centered episodes are always interesting. And infuriating XD They also have lots of religious references (the rest of the show too). In this episode, for example, he thinks the pigeons are a message from God, although usually, it's meant to be doves. It did work, though! There's also a picture of Job on the wall, but that's a much longer explanation, so I'll let you google it if you're interested. The title of the episode is in reference to an old joke, about a guy in the middle of a flood. He's in the middle of the water, and a boat goes by, and offers to help him, but he says "No, God will help me". Same thing happens with another boat, and then a helicopter. He ends up drowning, and when he sees God in the afterlife, he asks, "Why didn't you help me?", and God responds "I sent two boats and a helicopter."
You mentioned that someone compared this show to Lost, and that makes sense, cause it's the same creators. But they're quite different in many ways, and without spoiling anything, I'd say you shouldn't focus on finding answers. Just let the show lead you forward. I would say you should pay attention to everything! Even if it doesn't seem important right now...
