I feel like an easy justification for frieza being stronger could've just been that he found a way to train in hell similar to how goku could train while he was dead. Thus giving frieza several years to train instead of 4 months and open up some fun world building to explore exactly how he could've done that. And golden form could've been touched up to be some demon related transformation.
That is a excelent idea, it would a a great and more fitting way to make Frieza stronger, but if they did that then they wouldn't be able to do the joke of Frieza's hell being a bunch of cute things around him, and if the "Goku never kissed Chichi" scene show is that super would prefer to do a joke over something that would actually make sense
I don't have many things to say about the first two arcs, but I think the Cabba and Magetta fights weren't given enough credit. The Cabba one was really narratively well written, and the Magetta one was handled really well in terms of direction and visuals. Also the Hit fights were really entertaining. As for the Black Arc, I don't think Zamasu was fairly talked about either. He DIDN'T think all mortals were bad from that one rock guy thing. He had been thinking for a while that mortals seemed brutal, and Gowasu tried convincing him otherwise by showing a brutal civilization growing. It was the straw that broke the camels back, not one anvil dropped. And I agree the power scaling is really bad, but honestly I don't mind for the Trunks finisher. I would've preferred it to be a more logical solution but I'd prefer narrative satisfaction over power scaling consistency any day of the week. And I found Zamasu's attitude to be pretty entertaining. His Goku Black persona was super intimidating, backed up by the incredible score accompanying him. I also kinda think the time travel paradox isn't as impossible as one might think. It's a pretty common theory that there are closed time loops with no defined start or end, and this is similar. Plus it's easy to explain how that timeline could've resulted when you just consider it for a while. I'm not gonna argue the arc is amazing or a masterpiece, but it has far more merits than many claim. As for the ToP, I don't really think it's boring honestly. It's slow, but the individual fights and events were very entertaining to me, and I left it feeling very satisfied that it was the best arc of Super. 17 Frieza and Ultra Instinct alone make it.
I feel like with Frieza getting stronger they could've just created a new area with intense training gear in it. Like a Hyperbolic Time Chamber like thing and just add a throwaway line like "is the main guard training area still available?" or something like that to imply it's a specific area devoted to only his most elite soldiers in order to maintain that strength. Like it can be fixed to up gravity or increase target or increase returning blasts to at least hint at the fact he's taking training seriously. You could even keep it at 4 months if you want if you have frieza say "Captain ginyu trained in the area for a week and increased his power to just below my first form. Now imagine what 4 months can achieve." which would say ginyu is around but still weaker than Frieza after only 1 week of training to justify his insane power boost. You can then just scrap the idea after Frieza dies again.
something i have noticed is people care more about a certain character's characterization or sudden possible change from what these certain fans expect of them more than the total bad writing in these long running battle shounens and it gets on my nerves...they chose character over the core of a story and that can get me heated....they care so much about one character over the overall writing of a story that they will ignore the flaws a series has an just pick on a few characters who may be poorly written as if that matters more and the series otherwise is fine...its so stupid...for example they will hate on kururin being scarred and a quitter at times in super despite that always being apart of his character in the story..i have no issue with that or him being a cop..that stuff makes sense..his ptsd from dying..cool..what makes no sense is how the show will not just write some inner thoughts for goku for 3 seconds explaining that hes going easy on kururin in ssjblue to boost his confidence so we are left thinking he can match ssjblue cause the show never states if thats true or not..its so dumb thats a fundamental problem with the writing and the power system then...how do characters with little training off screen like 17 get so tough?..makes no sense...thats way worse then freeza being a good guy for a moment because hes still evil and he needs their help and vice versa to save everything so they call a truse for equal benefit...makes sense to me.....thats the difference between character and breaking the actual story...get it people?..characters can adjust change and be 3d...story can not..it needs to stay consistent as presented
I think the main problem with DBS isn't a power scaling, it's just writing. Writing and character development never was the best part of DB,but DBS just take it to a new level(making Goku a clown and Gohan *****).
