Taste of Prison was a masterpiece, also Mr. Sims was the bassist in the LHOB. Zowie Fenderblast was the guitarist

Blastronaut is also a great album, and their eponymous EP....man oh man. I heard it and flipped. The menace is palpable. I scored it on vinyl a few years back but originally had it on cassette. The lyrics of "Getting Wasted With The Vampires" are so good. I think I bought it in 89 or 90, just for the song titles. One of the best purchases I've made. I wonder if there are any more songs on tape somewhere....?

Jay he was an alien, just one of the boys
He had a rock and roll band
    He smoked dope daily and
    Soon he believed, he
    was a miracle man
    One day stoned and holy
    He was crossing the street
But he didn't see the cars
With the dent in his head
From the hospital bed he said
    'I'm Jesus from Mars'
And all the little children say,
    'Jesus Never Lived on Mars'
You're just a messed up maggot
With a dent in your head
    And Jesus never played guitar
    Dress and restless it was
    Time for the show, but
    The band sensed that
    Something was wrong
    Jay's new ballads that
    The band didn't know
    Made a crucifix and
    lit us a wrong
    Jay started singing and
    The crowd stood and stared
    And the beer bottles started
To crash and they broke Jay's
    Fingers, tore out his hair
And threw him in the alley like trash
And all the little children say,
    'Jesus Never Lived on Mars'
You're just a messed up maggot
With a dent in your head
    And Jesus never played guitar
    Jesus loves the little boys
    Jesus loves the little girls
    Jesus loves the little boys
    Jesus loves the little girls
    Jesus loves the little boys
    And Jesus never played guitar
And all the little children say,
    'Jesus Never Lived on Mars'
You're just a messed up maggot
With a dent in your head
    And Jesus never played guitar
Jay was an alien, he's one of the boys
He had a rock and roll band
    He smoked dope daily and
    Soon he believed, he
    was a miracle man
And all the little children say,
    'Jesus Never Lived on Mars'
You're just a messed up maggot
With a dent in your head
    And Jesus never played guitar
    And Jesus never played guitar

Was Eddie a member of LHOB? Love this version. Why LHOB isn't more well-known has always baffled me.

it's actually pretty cool that they covered this. LHOB had 1 great album, "Blastronaut" and this one was not on it. So why cover this obscure track? BC it's a cool rock tune -- and Eddie was tight with Rick Sims, who under an alias was the guitarist and #2 vocalist for LHOB. He'll deny it up & down, but that voice is so recognizable. This was the only really good song off "Taste of Prison" -- most of the rest were junk. Thanks Eddie for making this one a winner.

@@GreedyGrom It's different from the other 2. Doesn't have the "glam" influences. 6 songs, each one good, IMO.

I disagree with you about "Taste of Prison"....I think it's good to the last track. But hey, it's all a matter of opinion. I wonder why LHOB is so relatively unknown, though....
