  • All right here is a little different video. it has been a little over three year on the road and we have put close to 30,000 mile on this hot rod. this video will be a short talk about what is in my car. I will go over the good, the bad, and the just plain ugly. And how I feel about the first 30k. In the following video I will go in-depth into what needs fixing and what I am changing. Please leave some comments on questions you have and I will answer in the following videos.

    My 1989 Mustang is still rockin' the original throttle cable and it's on its second clutch cable in 32 years. My FFR Mark II was built with a 1988 Foxbody donor motor and runs OEM Ford throttle cable and clutch cable. Both with ZERO issues!! Nothing wrong with these cable driven components. If I ever swap out the trans, I will be installing a hydraulic clutch assembly, but it is absolutely not necessary. Love the videos!!

    • @520speedworks6
      @520speedworks6  2 роки тому

      Metalcop thanks for watching! You are absolutely correct it is not necessary. I just think that they are some of the best bang for the buck upgrades. I know people have good luck with cables but personally know two guy here in Tucson that had them brake in the first couple hundred miles. And way easier to install during the build than after. LoL.

    I like the CNC reservoirs. Also going with the same ebrake. Have to have ac/heat and at least a soft top here in rainy England. I thought about making reservoirs from Jack Daniels bottles, but not sure they can handle the pressure.

    LoL you should see after a few hundred miles the stone chips... and cracks in the front end from scraping the body going into driveways and gas stations. Then the brass bushing on the doors wearing out.... BUT would not trade it for anything else! Way too many smiles per mile!

    I really want to get my hands on a Mk4 Cobra kit, though I want to get the 427 hardtop from Totalheadturners. If you ended up building another one, would you still go 427 or would you go Coyote?

    • @520speedworks6
      @520speedworks6  3 роки тому +3

      MuShinnen, I like the coyote as an engine package and have help install them in a few Cobra. But for me personally I will always install a pushrod motor in these cars. I am just not a big fan of the sound of the coyote puts out. I like the sound of a lumpy cam from this period style car. What I would do on a push rod motor is install a high-end EFI carb, like we did in our crashed cobra series.

    I’m running the FFR headers with Gas-N-Pipes. 8000 miles and no problem with the long tube headers. Agree the gas n pipes are awesome though. Have you dynoed to verify those HP numbers? Seems a bit high for a stroked 351.

    • @520speedworks6
      @520speedworks6  3 роки тому +1

      That's great with the headers. I went with the Gas-N-Pipe headers because Georgie built ma a set that were 1 7/8" all the way to the header flange. All number were recorded when we tuned the motor on the dyno. Got multiple passes on paper to back it up. LOL

    Have a question does factory five give you a vin and title if not how do you go about requiring one?

    • @520speedworks6
      @520speedworks6  3 роки тому +1

      ClipVue, Factory Five sends you a Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (MSO). You take that to your local DMV and go through what ever your state or counties registration process. here in Arizona its super easy. Need a level 2 state DVM inspection, MSO and a written affidavit of where the parts cam from with receipts. There is a little more to it, but that the basics. Every state differs. Thanks for watching.

    Huh? What you say? No cable? I got somethin' to say about that. I've used a stock clutch cable and throttle cable for 20+ years. One new cable each when I did a complete body-off job three years ago. Oh yeah, it has 83k miles on it so it gets driven. :) Get rid of that external fan alternator dude! Wicked! @@520speedworks6 Thanks my first Cobra from FFR I put a 460. They offer BB kits but only up to 428😟 Been researching and they want a ton of money for welded pipes. FFR included mandrel bent pipes in the first kit! And they looked great.
      There's a guy on eBay selling a set for a grand which were designed for a 460 super performance application. Still quite a bit of money and I'm not sure they're going to fit! And I don't know which head they were designed for? Could be a tall port and it might not be. The seller doesn't know really what he's looking at. The only other option is to weld them up myself. I've seen many videos and I do have some welding experience but I hate to put a Frankenstein set of headers underneath my new car, yuck.
