I locked myself out of my 2008 Explorer today. I used an airbag & coat hanger to get in. I found your video. I had to have my grandson read off the code. It worked like a charm. Thank you so much.
This worked great. Got er done! For those of you that just see the barcode keep looking. I saw the barcode and didn’t think the code was there. But after using a bright flashlight I could make out the numbers! So happy for this video!
I found my dads in that same spot thanks to you.. My dad bought a used 2008 Mercury Mountianeer and the dealer couldn't even tell him the code.. So thank you very much..
My experience was somewhat similar to Q Dudley, except… First, I had the exact same vehicle as described in the video, including the body color and trim! My fuse box was slightly different with an exposed wire protruding from a “hole” in the fuse box cover. The fuse box was a lot more difficult to remove because another “double clip” on the back side also held the cover in place - and I still do not know where that went after it broke off a piece of the cover near the “hole” for the external wire. I only saw one bar code, with NO numbers, and it was centered and a little to the right of that silver protrusion in the fuse box and a little higher up on the fuse box than in the video. Likely Ford switched to a bar code only alternative to thwart thieves and contraband scum from accessing this info so easily. Still this is an amazing and helpful video: good info. My suggestion is to not mess with removing with the cover. Contort yourself to best position yourself, along with a mirror and light, and do the best you can. In the end, I went to a knowledgeable locksmith who, for $20, accessed the code. That was definitely a better alternative than the yoga contortions to locate my bar code that was not helpful for me.
I spent the whole afternoon under the dash of my 07 Mountaineer looking for this code without success, but I was looking for a white label. If I get it now, you're my hero.
Having a no start issue and diagnostic read shows miscommunication with ECM, no gas feed. Changed all sensors and fuel related parts, still not starting but it fires right up when starter fluid sprayed directly into throttle body. ECM replaced at Town and Country's suggestion (wasn't the issue) but had to have keys reprogrammed. Keyless entry on door that I've never utilized because I purchased second hand and never had the numbers, though I do use the key fob so rarely have I used the key to open the door. ECM seems to think vehicle is being stolen so the security system has disabled starting ability. I think it is confused. I know I am! I was just about to deactivate the security system so it will start, when I saw this video. I'm going to retrieve the key pad numbers first and try unlocking the doors to see if that makes a difference. Great Video!
I bought a 2007 mercury mountaineer about a 1 1/2 yrs ago and they didn't have a code. I didn't think about it much with the excitement of the purchase and so on, not until I got home (I also lived over 60 miles away in the opposite direction of where I work). Being that I have never had this feature b4 I didn't make a big deal out of it when the dealership said they didn't have the code. They should be required to produce that code if they are selling the vehicle, hindsight is 20/20 I would have insisted they produce it or pay for it, if I had to do it all over again I would have. I have looked for that code off/on the whole time. 3x's I could not find it behind the back passenger panel, I thought I was missing something. I tried all kinds of things. I found a forum that said to check the fuse box and use a phone camera to get the numbers, but b/c of the closeness the camera wouldn't focus...I never thought of a dental mirror. THANKS to you in a few moments I got the code it took me hours searching for over the past 1 1/2 yrs. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. I don't know why I hadn't come across your video before while I was searching for a solution, but I am sooo elated that I did. Last night, I spent a couple hours trying to find it again, stretched out, being bit my fire ants, mosquitos, yellow flies, doing a back bend, in the most oddest positions (and I am a heavy woman) that was not easy!!!! I could not express enough of gratitude for this video, especially when your making a payment for something you should be able to use all the features your paying for. Once again...a huge...THANK YOU.
Glad the vid helped! Over the years ford had been putting the code in different odd places. The sealer-ship's don't always know everything, some times you have to call a bunch of different ones to get answers.
Thank you soooo much. It worked. I just got my explorer yesterday and all I got was the key (without a remote). But yes guys, he is so right. I got the tooth mirror from the dollar tree.
After watching most of this video, I took a magnifying mirror and a small flashlight and found the code without having to remove anything (in less time than it took to watch). It worked and I just saved $75, which my local FORD dealer quoted.. DUH!!!
Thank you!...it took me a lil bit to find it but I did! It's exactly where you showed on your video...just make sure you have a good bright flashlight.
2008 EXPLORER SPORT TRAC - my code was not toward the front of the dash as explained on this video. It was below the white bar code label towards the middle of the fuse box. There were two rows of white numbers and the code was the only number there with 5 digits
gracias por el video...es la mejor explicacion que vi y me resulto ya que tengo una explorer 2007 y no podia usar los botones por que no lo sabia...gracias
This is good information. Those numbers can be hard to read. I was successful with a magnifying mirror jammed up behind the fuse box then reading the numbers with a magnifying glass on my end. Sucks when the eyes start to go lol
Its not there on my 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4.6L V8 Limited. Not behind the seat either or on top of the computer in the glove box. Color me frustrated. Everyone says the 2008 Explorers and Sport Tracs are the same. NOPE! I see a trip to the dealer in my near future!
By the way if your engine or thermostat has not blown up yet, hurry up and replace the plastic thermostat housing with a metal one. All over the country, thousands of owners have to replace their engine, or strap the car, on the ford explorer sportrac
Just found same thing, however below the bar code in real light # you will find it. Magnifying glasses and bright light. ( my secret) and small mirror.
@@mallowmarsh420 Mine was between the bar code sticker and the silver fuse on the fuse box. It's a lightly laser etched set of numbers just like the video example. Keep in mind you might reverse a digit using a mirror and your own brain reading it. I had to have my teen son read them off. I have hunted all over the car looking through utube videos.
@@robertmowlds6903 Yeah. It took an angled mirror, a very uncomfortable body position, and just the right angle of eye sight...but i got it. Thanks for replying tho **high five**
I have an 07 eddie Bauer edition I found mine there. But my Dad has an 08 Explorer limited an I couldn't find it in that same area. On mine the numbers were raised a little but on his I couldn't find any numbers any idea's? I've heard you can get the code with a code reader is this true?
+Aio Folos I am not an expert...just showing where I found mine as they hide the codes in different places. You can try looking in the same place I did or read up online for some other possible locations like behind the glove box, door module behind rear pillar etc....

"Reset" no idea, I don't even think you can. You will have to read online where the factory code it located, then you may be able to add or delete other user codes that may have been added
Dude like we know where you car is located you could just show where is at to help then say your not gonna show your code lol like we know your house address 🤦🏻♂️
You saved us thousands . After eight years of owning a vehicle, your video finally help me find my code.

Worked like a charm on my 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. I knew that dental mirror would come in handy some day! Thank you so much.
I cant thank you enough!! It truly only took 3-5 minutes to gather the supplies and find my code! Thank you!
This worked on my 2007 explore. I tried so many different places and you were the winner. Thank you so much.
I found my dads in that same spot thanks to you.. My dad bought a used 2008 Mercury Mountianeer and the dealer couldn't even tell him the code.. So thank you very much..
Glad it helped, love the Mercury's in my opinion they look better

Excellent. Thanks for showing how to open the cover of the passenger Compartment fuse box!
Worked. Thank you sooooo muuuuuccchhhhhh! My kid lost my other set of keys. Again thank you.
Thanks for the 3 minute hack. It saved use quite a bit of money. It made my day to help my dad! awesome
Thank you so much for this video man. I traded for a 2008 model explorer and it didn’t have any other way to tell. Keep up the helpful info

Hi i have a 2010 eddie bauer and is not there some idea?
Many places they put it, you need to research all the forums and youtube videos like I did, this was just one place they put it.
Hi does you find yours? mine 2010 does not apperars yet 😞
how to reset the keypad on a 2004 grand marquis
"Reset" no idea, I don't even think you can. You will have to read online where the factory code it located, then you may be able to add or delete other user codes that may have been added
