- The Inca Empire didn't actually fall when you probably think it did. After the initial Spanish blitz, the Inca state would survive in the jungle for another 40 years.

I kinda wanna say no dip, but that’s rude and doesn’t make sense to say so ima just say THE MAD LAD
The madman did it
Actually the Incas had mastered the art of the civil war long before the Spanish showed up
True haha
Yes, two royal houses that hated each other for extra stability
idk man Spanish got it from the romans
If Huayna Cápac did have to frick two different woman none of this would happened. Except for the spanish conquest.
Si Huayna Cápac no hubiera muerto por enfermedades raras recién llegadas (con su heredero al mismo tiempo) :"v
10:32 It’s even funnier when you realise that *that* Tupac was named after *this* Tupac.
I actually didn’t know that hahaha
well Tupac was named after Tupac Amaru II, but that guy was named after this Tupac Amaru I so indirectly you're right

I love learning about how certain empires lasted longer than we often think. Kind of like how the Eastern Roman Empire lasted into the 1400s
Inca empire history is underrated
The Neo Inca Empire is even more underrated
@@juanmam.2113 Depends, some were indeed advanced civilizations, others were literally colonized. You can't blame them that much since before there were other empires and when those died new ones, and new ones and well you get the point.
Also more than federations they were
like states, federations were mostly a think from Central and northern america. Thing mades them confusing is the fact their economy was based on manpower rather than metals.
@@juanmam.2113 Dude, your ignoring the fact that when the incas invasion came along, they invaded proper states in modern day Ecuador, the tribal period in the andes itself was getting over by the middle ages, the only majority tribal states were on the Atacama, Paraguay, Argentina and the jungle. Although you may be referring to the jungle amazonian tribes, those areas were peaceful.
Just like in the silk road, the one who controlled most of it gained more economic benefits from it (thus the persians make sure to control the silk road as the chinese dynasties) war is a common which sadly is greatly unkowned due to the lack of writings. The same Incas are believed to be a tribe which at the expansion of the mapuche semi-nomads fleed to the peruvian andes (same reason why it's believed they spoke a different language). If what you were saying its real, then the ecuatorian dynasties who existed during the incan ocupation must have been more for the number of what yoh describe as tribes or like in northern Chile, none because then it would be colonized by the incas violent way (wich just like the previous empires such as Wari, Chimu and Tiahuanaco, sometimes ended in g3n0cide).
It may be difficult to understand why the andinean and coastal region of Ecuador was unified and divided due to the lack of historical knowledge of their wars, although it's easily concluded that if there were no proper dynastic states, then the incas would have just simply colonized them like in the jungle or southern Colombia.
Anyways I get your point, many of the things even as far as religion and language were the work from others who came before them and they were annexed into the empire. Military wise, they were unique in that but obviously not as far as the mongols for example.
@@juanmam.2113 What im trying to say is that Pre columbian history is extremely underrated, the incan civil war between huascar and atahualpa and everything that happened in the inca empire i very underrated. Im from south america so i know about that lol
@@juanmam.2113 there was resistance in all the limits of the empire, and would have been crushed or integrated given time, just like in the south , the mapuches were driven farther into chile, and were still at war with the incas when the spanish came. This continent, sadly , dosent have literally sources, so we are up in the air in what we can conclude or get out of the things that we have, it's indicative of the limits of the civilization, they could make roads from guayaquil to santiago, but couldnt figure out you can write shit.
There is a joke about Shakira's armpit in this history video. I am traumatized beyond belief and I think we all need therapy.

Loved your take on the Vilcabamba kingdom, such an amazing undergdog story
It really is. Thanks for watching!
Why the hell does every video I click unrelated to Sid Mier's Civilization SOMEHOW make a civ reference
And it almost got revived in the 19th century, the United Provinces of the Rio de la Plata discussed a serious plan to create a constitutional monarchy under an Incan King and spanning from Peru to Uruguay
PD: It was called the "Inca Plan"
Interesting. I’ve never heard of that
@@HistoryHouseProductions It goes even deeper, the sun on the Argentine flag is the Incan sun god Inti, the reason why goes from "its a leftover from the Inca Plan" to local stories that says that they used Inti in the flag to gather support from the native people, mostly in the most remote areas where local traditions didnt changed much. Its interesting how the Incan cultural weight started to actually vanish with the formation of the modern states, 200 years after the Incas were actually gone.
All I'm saying is the Inca would've won if they'd gone with the Shakira armpit strategy.
Hear me out
Oh man, that ending...
I was about to lighten the mood by making some armpit-related joke, but I see that several people already did that.
Instead I'll just say that it's kinda impressive how quickly the Inca and other natives started adapting European tactics, including the usage of firearms and freaking cavalry.
It’s pretty cool. I feel like people just assume that natives weren’t very effective against the Spanish, but they really adapted and fought back pretty well all things considered.

I've been watching since your Maple syrup vid, and I feel I can safely say that you are SOOO underrated! Your videos are a perfect balance of history and comedy, and this one is certainly no exception!
Also ik this is off topic, a run-on sentence, and you probably get a lot of suggestions, but imo Thomas Cochrane is super underrated yet incredibly cool, and I feel he would make for a great video :)
Thanks so much for your kind words! :) I’ve added Lord Cochrane to the list! He might make a good video someday.

Fun fact the rapper Tupac was named after Tupac Amaru and Amaru was his middle name.
Vid Idea- Battle of Yarmuk (August 636). This Battle Has Changed The World Forever.
1:52 I see what you tried to do there but the joke is anachronistic, the Virgin of Guadalupe image is from Mexico, not Peru and it appeared like 50 years after the conquest so it would have been more appropriate to put a cross or a Spanish painting.

Question on 4:14 and use of lances by the Spanish in SA; were they the same pattern as typical Spanish colonial or European issue, do you have any recommended sources, and did they have any terrain-specific tactics?
Also: it's lucky for the Spanish that nobody (cough, Portugal, cough) decided to supply the rump empire with weapons and armour and do an Indochina-in-South-America.
I have no idea what kind of lances were being used. I assume that that were either brought over from Spain or made locally using Spanish designs.
