    What is your playstyle?

    • @immortalgamer3960

This was a really cool video about my favourite style of playing 40k. I play a lot of Kroot and dedicated Kroot armies fall into Control MSU as well. The entire army gets a 7" pre-game move, then can advance and shoot with Mont'Ka, basically enabling you to put all your models wherever you want and pen your opponent in, forcing them to fight on your terms. It's rare that I will defeat an enemy in combat, but by the time they've regained the advantage, I've already built an insurmountable lead. The matchups against most armies are pretty favorable too, with the only REALLY uphill battle I've found is against Thousand Sons, especially back when AoC was a thing. By your formatting:
      Strengths:
Point for point, the strongest MSU army. You can easily field over 100 S4 models plus support in a 1000 point game.
Reasonably durable in cover. They all get an ADDITIONAL +1sv when in cover. 7 Point models with a 4+ save are surprisingly durable.
Incredibly Fast. The whole army gets a 7" pregame move, but the hounds are even better 7" pregame, 12" move, re-roll charge. Easy to tag threats and tie them down on turn one while you do what you need.
Solid Relics: They surprisingly get two very strong relics. A solid sniper rifle and a really strong single use aura buff.
Makes Anti-Tank Irrelevant: Anything dedicated against multi-wound models are just so much less effective against Kroot.
Tau Allies: You can bring in Tau units to support if needed at no penalty.
      Weaknesses:
Critical Positioning: Outside of cover, they are made of paper and can easily be killed with their T3 Sv6+.
Leadership: Even with the Kroot Shaper Aura, they only have 8Ld, so it's easily to loose a lot to morale if you're not careful.
Limited selection: There are only 5 non-Legends units in the game, so there's really only one way to build a list. They also have to be the Dal'Yth subfaction to be any good as a whole army.
Bad Warlord Traits: Unlike the relics, the Kroot Warlord Traits are almost never worth the CP.
Fragile Characters: Characters can get sniped easily by targeted psychic powers or ignore Look Out Sir! weapons.
Limited Secondaries: Decisive Action is an easy 12VP, but others are harder to get. Banners is usually solid, but anything around killing things is often hard to do.
Limited use of CP: There are only 2 Kroot Specific strats, plus the Dal'Yth one that works for both Kroot and Tau. All three of these are very situational as well. You'll often use the combat interrupt one, or re-roll something in the charge phase. Limiting Insane Bravery to once per game really hurt the Kroot's ability to use CP effectively.
      Goals:
Flood the board with bodies and cover everything important on turn 1.
Support fragile areas with fast moving units.
Screen enemies from their objectives and/or secondaries.
      Tools:
Oceans of Carnivores that put out a surprisingly large volume of S4 attacks at range or up close. With Mont'Ka and Shapers, you are also re-rolling 1's to hit and wound on pretty much everything.
Kroot Hounds can tie up threats long enough to heavily restrict what those threats do.
Farstalkers are solid at crippling 1 specific unit (chosen at the beginning of the game).
Krootox are fast units that can easily knock over a 5 man unit of marines with a bunch of D2 firepower and/or melee hits.

I love doing rush in, shock assault, melee fights, while I've never actually played official 40k, that's how I imagine I would want to play, or video games don't translate to 40k.

I think Raven Guard are an interesting SM faction where board control might be a niche they're strong at thanks to all the mobility options the chapter gets.

I like the general shift from sheer datasheets to overarching concepts like "How can an army play the mission?" But maybe it's just my focus at the moment. As I realized I don't really know how to play the game. As in what strategic approaches are there, and how can they be achieved?

Quite surprised at not seeing the Thousand Sons, to be honest... I would have put up there alongside GSC given the fact that their psychics and stratagems are exactly about positioning, buffs, debuffs, and the like.

    • @OtherSideProduction1
      @OtherSideProduction1 Рік тому +1

I’d say thousand sons is more of a defensive army. You sit on 3 objectives with terminators taking mid board, buff them up, do psychic interrogation, and screen out charges with demons, rubric marines, etc. They got enough beef to be able to just sit around, shoot mind bullets and grab 12 in primary every turn……if they were good rn lol

Tsons arent a finesse army, thats just something tsons players say bc their army takes 0 skill to play. All you need is a basic understanding of the psychic phase

You can play Orks in a control way, but in a lot of matchups you can just kill 'em good. They also don't have many shenanigans at all, just lots of bodies with good statlines. The smart Ork player will focus on primary and secondary scoring, but most of us just wanna yell WAAAAAGH, roll handfuls of dice, and krump stuff in melee.
