How I make my coffee scrub soap without using color additives // coffee cold process soap

- Hello Soapers! In this video I should you how I made my coffee scrub soap without using any added colors. No micas, no clays, nada. This recipe includes coconut milk, cold pre-brewed coffee, coffee seed oil, espresso fragrance oil, used coffee grounds, and whole bean coffee for the garnish.
The oil and butter combination is my personal recipe, but you could use any combo of oils and butters that you like and still achieve similar results.
This soap turned brown due to the espresso fragrance oil, which has a vanillin content and will turn the batter brown during saponification. Here you can see the wet batter was a nice rich brown, but as the coffee when through soaponification it turned much, much darker. I bring this up in case you are planning to use any colors like titanium dioxide, or anything really. You can try to combat this with a vanilla stabilizer, but think you would still see some browning. I did use stabilizer for this recipe on purpose. I wanted the dark espresso color and I looooove it.

What do you think about coffee soap?
Tiffany Makes Soap The coffee smell is good😍
Mater Sam 마터샘 I agree!!
it looks so good i wanna eat it 😍 thanks for sharing this!
Wow! 😍Now I want to drink coffee and make coffee soap all day!! I think I'll try half w/o coffee grounds and half with, to add colors and texture!
Very nice soap. I like the simplicity and the scrubby part☺️❤️
Thank you!! And thank you for watching. It is a scrubby soap, for sure! 😃
por favor nos podrías dar la receta, con sus cantidades. gracias. saludos desde Colombia
Hello there! I loved your video!
May I ask what you used to measure and cut your soap with? Also, what was it sitting on when you cut it?
Thanks! I found a cheapo soap measure on Amazon (quality is exactly what I paid for, as in not great). The write cutter and wooden plainer (which is what I had to raise the soap with to cut all the way through) I got on Rakuten and shipped from Japan. I’ve since upgraded to a multi bar cutter which was pricey but well worth it!!
thanks for the video! what were those yellow pellets you put when adding the oils? some kind of butter? shea?
Yes, that's cocoa butter. They come in pretty small pellets when I order from Brambleberry. Can get them in natural form, or larger wafers from other suppliers as well.
Dope
Thank you!
Awesome! Where do you buy the fragrance?
Thanks! Brambleberry, Nurture Soap, Bulk Apothecary and/or Wholesale Supplies Plus.
The fragrance for the coffee soap is from Brambleberry (Espresso EO)
What’s the name of that black and orange tool you just used to see the temperature
Infrared heat thermometer gun. Around $20 on amazon or Walmart.
Question which you may have answered but my volume is down because my kids are sleeping lol is the lye to coffee ratio the same as it would be if it were water?
Yes! Brewed coffee is my liquid for this soap.
@@TiffanyRifferSoap thank you
Did you add any preservative to your coffee soap so it won't get rancid or develop orange spots need to know hope you see this and answer
No. I've never used preservatives in any of my soaps.
I’m curious about your loaf cutting set up. Is this available on Amazon?
Hi Alexis, some parts of my set up I did originally purchase from Amazon. The plastic loaf cutter is here: amzn.to/2LIFg1G.
The wooden bevel and the wire cutter I purchased on Rakuten (shipped from Japan). Similar items are also on Amazon, but since I've not personally used these I can't attest to their quality: bevel - amzn.to/35SlWWD and wire cutter - amzn.to/3qxMlAQ
I highly recommend reading the reviews for all of these products before purchasing. They each have their pros and cons. I've since moved on to a multi bar cutter, but still use this original set up for my coconut milk based soaps. (PS these are Amazon affiliate links. See disclaimer in video description).
Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@TiffanyRifferSoap Thank you! I’m definitely interested in a multi bar cutter but have found they’re more than I’m hoping to invest at this moment. If you have any suggestions under $50 for a multi bar cutter I’ll take them. So far I’ve found cutting them individually is the most affordable way for me right now. I appreciate you getting back to me so quickly! 🙂
You’re so right about the price of multi bar cutters!! Mine was not cheap but I really wanted uniformity and view it as a long term investment for my business. When you do get to the point of getting one, I purchased from Plowboyz Woodshop on Etsy at the recommendation of other soap makers on Facebook.
밀랍도 들어가는건가요?
Hello!! Google translate tells me you're asking whether it contains beeswax? If that's right, then the answer is no. I don't typically use beeswax in my recipes, but you could use it in your own and still achieve similar results. This soap turned the nice dark color from the coffee seed oil and the espresso fragrance oil.
@@TiffanyRifferSoap ^^~답장 감사합니다
Did you add lye to the oils?
At 3:24 specifically, was that more lye?
No. That was a small almost empty container of sunflower or almond oil followed up by a more full container of the same oil. The lye was measured and mixed at the very beginning of the video.
Hello, can you share the recipe please?
Check the description for the additives and fragrance information. The oils/butter recipe itself is my own. There are plenty of others widely available that you could use and find elsewhere, and you would achieve very similar results.
can I just rewatch an old soap and add coffee and essential oil to it?
I've never done a re-batch, so I can't say one way or the other.
Yes but you won’t be able to add a lot of liquid coffee or it won’t harden enough, but you can add the grounds and EO with no worry.
@@pistolvixens can you help me. I want to measure something that is 0.04 grams how can I measure that?🥺
@@shammaalali352 on your scale? If you use a scale for soap making you can switch it to grams. Otherwise I’m not sure what you mean.
@@pistolvixens if I want to add something that is 0.04 grams in my formula how can I make sure it’s 0.04 it won’t show on my scale unless it’s 0.5
