@@joeyjamison5772 I was deadheading on a DC8 inbound to Atlanta and the pilot wanted to stay high for awhile longer so when we did start to go down he just went to idle on all 4 and opened the reversers on 2 of them. It was a fun ride🤗
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how steady the camera panning was on that Azerbaijan Gov aircraft during taxiing? Fantastic video from start to finish!
The air to air footage of the DC-6. There are no words strong enough to convey how impressive that was. The weather, the scenery, and the classic airplane all came together so perfectly. What I wouldn't give to get shots like that! 😍
Some of the most beautiful, stunning, and steady aircraft videography I've seen on UA-cam over the last 10-15 years! It was such a joy NOT to feel sea-sick thanks to camera vibration or poor tracking. And the detail covering each aircraft was both succinct yet detailed enough for me to go do some searching. I had no idea so many on 707 airframes had either the original engines or, on the flip side, been kitted out with some nice modern-looking engines. Just goes to show how a soundly-designed and built airframe can play the "axe head/axe handle" game for many decades, ha ha.
Thank you so much for your kind and positive feedback and comment! We really appreciate that! Very nice to see so many active 707 with old engines, the sound nails it every single time!
the 747-SP is the infrared airborne observatory SOFIA, probably the most expensive and heavily modified non-military aircraft in the world. It has a 2.5 m telescope at the back that can track on a star in the sky with pixel accuracy during bumpy flight. It started service at Pan Am as the Clipper Lindbergh. Sadly now the mission is shutdown and the plane is awaiting conversion to a museum at Pima. I flew on it 24 times and will treasure those memories for my life.
Those were fun, especially looking at the engines of the KC135. Definitely upgraded from those first mounted in 1962. And a 60 year old airplane that looks nearly new. Kudos to the maintenance boys. Wow.
Definitely a nice and good-looking aircraft! The USAF did a really good job! Thanks a lot for your support and the kind comment! We really appreciate it!
The Red Bull DC-6 is the second to last one ever produced and has quite an interesting history. It was officially owned by JAT (Yugoslav Airlines) and served as Yugoslav presidential plane, Yugoslav AF-1, of president Tito. It was donated to Zambia together with her sister ship to serve as presidential plane of president Kenneth Kaunda. After that it served as an airliner for some time. After a few years of service it was stored on the ground untill Red Bull discovered it, bought and painstakingly restored.

Life has been very distracting, and it has taken me a couple of days to view the entire post. However, I am so glad that I stuck with watching. Because of being late to comment, I’ll keep my comment short and just point out a small bit of trivia, in the event you do not know it. Apart from replacing the original engines on the modified Boeing 707’s, it is easy to detect which aircrafts have been modified with hush kits. If you compare the E-3C at @17:02 with the E-8C at @ 18:32, look at the front of the engine nacelles. The E-3C has the hush kit, because part of the modification was the removal of the auxiliary air intakes, which are present on the E-8C. From what I read, the hush kits hampered the aircraft significantly when dealing with crosswind landings and takeoffs. There were other undesirable results, but I guess that it kept someone happy with a quieter engine. Again, thank-you so much. I am anxiously awaiting your next post.

I flew many, many hours on board C-118 and C-54 aircraft throughout Central and S America jn the late 60’s and early 70’s. They were military versions of DC6 and DC4. Were very similar. C-118 had square windows and C-54 had round windows. That was easiest way to tell difference.

What was the Illlushin pilot thinking, deploying the thrust reversers @ 06:06 ,whilst still airborne? That shouldn't be possible without deliberately locking out various sensors. Ask Lauda Air about that one.
