- With a week to go to the 2024 NFL draft, it’s time to put out mock draft 2.0 for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now we start with reactions to 1.0 because a lot of you were a little upset with me for not taking a tackle in that draft. Not because I didn’t want to hut more because it was a big reach to do so. Beyond that we get into the draft where I do listen to the people, at least initially.

Our top needs are Center, Receiver, Corner, Offensive and Defensive tackle. Problem with JPJ over Barton or Frazier is the concussion issues not taking that chance in the first round
I’ve heard about the concussion issues but I’m just concerned with waiting and losing a chance at one of the top centers.

This is fair. I also didn’t realize this offer was from Mr. F them picks himself, Les Snead. Probably should have taken it.
I think this draft proved your point: quality tackles fell to rounds 2-5. If we could get Goncalves that late, I’m totally going center. Then again if Bowers falls that far, I’m taking him and figuring out the rest later lol Center has to be early. Don’t listen to the comment section foolery!

@@TomWasHereOnUA-cam Bowers is regarded as one of the greatest tight ends in college football history. I think he has an immediate Sam LaPorta-Dalton Kincaid type impact in 2024. I would try and trade Pat for a second, maybe a third and something else. Otherwise let him play the season and get a comp pick for him the following year. He’ll be a top 5 tight end in the league
It’s fine if value pushes them not to draft tackle, we still have Becton and the chiefs tackle still free agents that would be an upgrade over Moore
Agreed, I think there’s a lot of options in free agents or via trade at the tackle position that they could always fall back on.
You should use the PFN mock draft simulator.

Whoever thinks Latham is a better pick than JPJ really needs to learn the game. JPJ IS THE BEST CENTER IN THE DRAFT and Latham is borderline third best tackle.

Center is the most important position on the o line !
You go ahead and go get Cole or Green for next year and I’ll go get JPJ. Latham is a mediocre pass blocker and has about 20 penalties in 2 years. Pass
There are more centers in this draft than just the top three or four that would be fine in our offense if you’re going to draft center in the first round trade back and get another day 2 pick and you will still have your choice one of the top three guys
I haven’t heard a single scout or analyst compliment a center behind the top 4 lol and even then, there’s a lot of concern around Van Pran. There is very little center quality in this draft

I never said it was a deep draft for centers. We don’t need a great center. We need a serviceable center that will do his job. We have multiple needs in this draft. I am fine drafting center as long as we don’t draft him at 20 trade back and you will still get one of the top three and pick up a day 2 pick

Not at all and again, I think you are completely underestimating what we need we have five needs unless we trade back in the first round that is terrible value drafting a center at 20 we need a corner. We need a receiver. We need a defensive tackle. we need an offensive tackle and we need a center, the Steelers have always drafted available player at the position of need if we are going to draft center that’s fine. Trade back in the first round pick up a day 2 pick. and then draft center, and you will still get one of the top three
I like this draft although I don't like taking a tackle over one of the top center choices since you picked up Prann you should have went Mims bc i fel like BJ cvpand Mims would all take a big leap linking up with lineman that already have a repor with
You should have been here for my 1.0 where I took Jackson Powers Johnson with my first round pick. I’m afraid of Mims because of the injury and the lack of starting experience.
Look at the top centers in the league most of them were between the 3rd and 5th rounds you can't get a starting tackle in the third or fifth round. You take your tackle first, then you go for your Center in the second or third round
I understand that but don’t necessarily want to rely on taking a chance at the later center because I was a starter, also I think there’s more veteran tackles to be had than veteran centers. Broderick jones didn’t start right away. A veteran could beat out Moore and start day one potentially.
Not true plenty of centers in this draft. Michigans, Wisconsins, Georgias, Arkansas’s
I’m just concerned that they don’t get mentioned much. After the top 4 you don’t hear much of anything.
Problem is right now we have Pickens who is probably a high end number 2 and then best we have is a 4 or 5 if we had a solid other 2 or 1 we could use one of those guys and they would be serviceable but as it sits the receiver room is below average
Lassiter is a terrible pick you need to go receiver
At that point in the mock, Ricky Pearsall was the only receiver there. I wasn’t so sure about him so that’s why I waited. Also Lassiter ran a slower 40 but he’s solid everywhere else.
Why are you using a mock draft simulator that offers zero realistic trade offers? That makes no sense.
Agreed! Unfortunately it seems other sites have hid them behind paywalls and I’m not paying for this silliness. Do you have one to suggest?
