- www.mattraines.com Check out my new CD CHI --also available at CDBABY with my 1st cd INNER CITY www.cdbaby.com/... If you order through me direct it's $8 ea or both for $15---shipped! woohoo!.Great guitar--shitty video. But I had to get it over with since I've been using this thing for a few years now. If you need to plug in and play loud-this is the best guitar I've used. The amp is small, light and inexpensive. And clean as hell. • Godin ACS SLIM & FISHM...
The first thing I did when I got mine was shim the neck because of the action, though it has very slightly affected intonation. I’ve had it about 5 years but only just bought the Fishman Loudbox last month (the cream limited edition). They compliment each other perfectly.
I had this amp for a year before it died. went to a marshal as50d and am finally happy.
Sounds damn good to me. I have one myself, really just for the MIDI.
Great sound and jeez you are a darn fine player.
Super cool video, you realy say it well. If you want to practice with the Godin Multiac without an amp it is possible because its has a hollow body butt it doesn't sound like a accoustic guitar should sound. But amplified it's a real monster. absolute great! For the price you wil make a good choice. This guitar also feels like it haves a longer neck and with the 43 mm neck it doesn,t feel like a acoustic nylon at all butt more like a steel string guitar so you have to get used to that.
Quit complaining, it sounds good.. You play really well, what practice method do you use to get that fast.. Wow.
love your playing man!!!
great playing. IM PLANNING TO BUY A USED GODIN SAME WITH YOUR GUITAR. is $600 a good price?
French it’s Godan.
Nice playing. What year is your Godin. First two digits on the back. Do you know if it’s a richlite or ebony fretboard? Cheers from Oz 👍🏼
great stuff. thanks
I bought the multiac slim recently and for the kind of money I payed for the guitar the action is way too high I am at pro level so I am playing shows often but for $1100 this guitar should came with low action so Robert Godin failed on this part of the multiac slim any pro guitarist will tell they do not want the action this high.
I have the same guitar and it has a mild earth sound so i was wondering if this problem is caused because i do not have a Ground instalation at my house ?? Or it is caused by a
damage on my guitar ??? Actually i have a Fender which does not have that problem when i plugged into the same amp at my house
So is this guitar no good at acoustic stuff? or just mainly fingerpicking and spanish stuff?
Matt...yes you speak words of wisdom..these Godin's are a great solution for playing loud/with a band without feedback problems. Can you tell me who you entrusted to shim the neck? Are they in the Los Angeles area by chance?
I shimmed it myself---very easy. Start off with a very small shim and go from there. It'll take a little while but is well worth it!
Matt Raines Matt, I should of read the liner notes-you build guitars and play great too!!, of course you did it yourself. Excuse my ignorance, but although a professional guitarist for many years I don't know what a shim is and it would be dangerous for me and the guitar to try and do it. What is the shim procedure exactly to lower the action and keep the intonation right? I can hear the one you worked on plays really clean.. Anybody you might recommend in the LA area that could do as good a job?..
Matt Raines Matt, did you use regular hardware store / Home Depot wooden shims?
I used a slice of an old credit card.
Below you stated that you used 'a slice of an old credit card' to shim the neck on the Godin ACS guitar. Where under the neck, if you can remember, did you place the 'slice' (relative to the holes and/or the end of the neck)? I have a Godin ACS-SA Koa with the same issue; I need to lower the strings. Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I assume that you've solved the issue by now, but for anyone passing by & wondering here's a very comprehensive demonstration of neck shiming:

Thanks for the great review Matt. What amp did you use for this video? I have the same guitar but couldn't get that awesome hollow-like sound of an actual acoustic guitar
thanks!! and great timing...its a fishman loudbox.GREAT amp and relatively inexpensive
Have you tried the godin encore do you happen to know which one sounds better between the acs or encore?
do you pick with your fingernail ?
Did you try adjusting the truss rod that lowers the action.
Truss rods exist to straighten the neck-not to raise or lower the action.Shims exist to modify the neck angle.
Ok .
The sound quality of this video is really bad. Can't hear the tone of the guitar because everything is tinny.
what is the audiosystem?
Арсений Баранов a fishman loudbox
thank you:)
