  • Hey everyone, I know it's been a minute since I last uploaded on this channel, but I am back with a new show! I got a last-minute opportunity to perform at my university, under a tent in the cold (similar to last year's Cold As Christmas: A Day On the Green shows). For this rather impromptu performance, I decided to play a mini Queen medley as a warm up for a gig I would do a week later (soon to be uploaded!) However, due to waking up a mere two hours before this performance and not having enough time for vocal warm ups, my vocals prove to be less than ideal, with many strained/off-key high notes and dodged notes. This show features the live debut of both "Killer Queen" and "Bohemian Rhapsody (Reprise)." Now, for the song breakdown!
"Bohemian Rhapsody" is sung using Tokyo 1985 phrasing, with scoop phrasing on "but now I've gone and thrown it all away" and G4 phrasing on "gotta leave you all behind and face the truth." My voice cracks on "didn't mean to make you cry" and the final "mama ooh." My vocals are especially strained on "life had just begun" and "born at all," and are rough on "I don't wanna die." I drop the phrasing on lines such as "this time tomorrow" and "I've got to go." "Killer Queen" is not nearly as rough or strained as "Bohemian Rhapsody," but features quite a lot of dropped phrasings, particularly on lines such as "just like Marie Antoinette, built in remedy," "guaranteed to blow your mind," and "fastidious and precise." I sing the line "perfume came naturally from Paris" in Montreal 1981 phrasing. Finally, "Bohemian Rhapsody (Reprise)" is decent sounding, with only a few minor piano flubs and no embellishment on the second "ooh yeah." The first "nothing really matters" is a tad sharp.
