    Your video was great. Straight to the point. The only thing missing was to change the little white plastic disc that sits right underneath the filter. This part also needs to be changed out, so in actuality, there are 2 parts in the module.

    Was going crazy looking for the fuel water separator on this 3350 Regal. Your answer to one of the comments solved my problem. The filter set up IS the f/w separator

      That’s exactly right. When you change it every year, I believe you’re pouring out a mixture of fuel and water.

    Just did mine today, slightly newer engine but same filter set up. All went well, I had some kind of hose in my way but was able to slide it off to the side. Cap was stuck on there more then i expected but it broke free with a little force. Thanks again for the video.

      Make sure to read the other comments. They point out a white disc below the filter that should also be changed periodically. 😃

    David - Does this style of fuel system also have a fuel/water separator also? I've had a look at my boat ans cant seem to find one.

    To bad you missed the disc filter.in the bottom of the fuel module.

      Yeah, it’s crazy that my manual never mentioned it. I, too, have amended my procedures to replace the disc filter, but I never went back to amend the video.

    I just changed mine today(fuel filter) started it, ran for about 5 min and then just shut down and wouldn’t start again.
    Do you happen to know what would b the problem as I did exactly what you just did?
    thank you for your answer.

      Did you reconnect the wiring harness? I believe the wiring harness is for the fuel pump. Maybe ensure to that you properly reconnected that.

      You didn’t accidentally bump your safety kill switch by the throttle? Plenty of gas in the tank? Is it accidentally still in gear? Changing a filter shouldn’t cause it to not start. Does it have bad gas from last year? Just throwing out different ideas.

    • @sellignomod83
      @sellignomod83 4 роки тому +2

      Thank you for your answer... I think it might actually be not enough gas in the tank. It is very very low on gas. I will try it today after adding 40 litres and will see...

    Is there any need to clamp fuel line or shut off fuel supply?

    • @budgetprojectsbydavid5263
      @budgetprojectsbydavid5263  3 роки тому

      Hi Ben! For me, the answer was “no”, since my tank is below the deck. A fuel pump is required to get the fuel up to the engine, since gravity is working against it.

  • @aarem01

    Did you start up with boat out of water/ is there a water separator/

    • @budgetprojectsbydavid5263
      @budgetprojectsbydavid5263  3 роки тому +1

      I don’t have a problem turning an engine over with a starter out of the water for a few seconds. Avoid it, if you can, but it’s not the worst thing in the world. The fuel filter design is in essence a water separator. My boat does not have any sort of additional water separator to my knowledge.

    What is the difference in the two part numbers?

    • @budgetprojectsbydavid5263
      @budgetprojectsbydavid5263  3 роки тому +1

      I think the number with “M” in it supercedes the other, older, part number. They are the same filter, though. Make sure you get the filter disc, as well. It’s not pictured in my video because i didn’t realize i was supposed to change it too.

      @@budgetprojectsbydavid5263 of course i also did not change the disc filter. Does it just sit below the filter element? www.boats.net/product/mercury/892665?gclid=Cj0KCQjw8IaGBhCHARIsAGIRRYoOd_7BJtS2S5MslssI6dqD5UdgZDaUpfpgRD1L5u3_YYuIYWu0wUgaAl2bEALw_wcB

      When you initially pull the handle on the filter assembly, it should be at the bottom of that cavity. I haven’t done mine yet, this year, but I plan to use some needle nose pliers to work that filter disc out. I have had the boat for 5 summers and this will be the first time changing it.

      In the big waters of our home lake, Greers Ferry, in Arkansas, the boat traffic and choppy waters do a great job of regulating that down to a much tamer clip.

    Is this filter considered the fuel water separator? Thank you

    • @budgetprojectsbydavid5263
      @budgetprojectsbydavid5263  Рік тому

      I think the whole cannister is considered the fuel water separator. The fuel that comes into that filter housing (cup) could contain fuel and water. Since water is more dense than fuel, the fuel floats on top. The liquid that is drawn from the top of the filter housing should be more fuel than water. The water should be left in the bottom of the “cup” or filter housing.
