Say no more! I’m buying this-especially since they have a new and improved version out now that has a larger, higher-quality speaker built-in! So much better sounding than the cheap $80 folding piano I have now-and even smaller too!
I love the old school synth tones this little guy is capable of. Thank you for recording all the preset tones! I think I've finally found my midi controller and small synth solution!
I would get this, if it had 37 mini keys and the ability to connect a bigger midi-keyboard to it! I would pay 40-50% more for that, as well! Thx for the demo!!
Great video BUT why not leave the instrument name up for the whole demo instead of one second? Really hated to pause and go back just to catch the last one.
@@1face Play also has a built in midi player with sounds so you can play on it like a keyboard without anything else connected. The other ones are strictly midi controllers, they just output midi data and you need a pc or other hardware to get any sound.
Wow, thanks for the effort! The sounds are really good! Too bad the keyboard doesn't start on the g which would have been great because that way it would be useful for almost all folk songs in c major. But even the way it is I would still buy it if it had a midi output for the sounds, then I would use it as a synth with my cheap 49 key midi controller.
The sounds seem good to me... i would like to know if they have layers and richness when they are performed with different velocitys etc... and i say this cause i think i read somewhere this presets are imported from the Triton... i have to make sure tho...
Definitely not triton sounds. And I'd say no there isn't any velocity layers. These are GM sounds that are mostly okayish, some are very bad. Some decent. Hello, I bought an Akai Mpk Mini Play device. I want to use the instrument without connecting it to the computer. But I want to fix the rhythm with drum sounds from the pads and play a solo piano on the keyboard, but I couldn't discover from which key and how to do this on the device. While the device is also battery powered, it is my preference to be able to use it anywhere independent of the computer. In short, how should I record the drum sounds I play on the device itself, with which key, without connecting it to a computer?
Sadly you cant, theres nothing to record, neither a sampler/looper nor a sequencer. Youll have to record it into another device, a looper or better, a sequencer, since the general midi sounds arent that great. The inbuild sounds are more to jam with or to learn some playing or to fast play some new ideas. If you like the inbuild sounds you may buy a looper in addition to make tiny jams.
Maybe you are confused by the missleading title of the video. This is in fact the Akai MPK Mini ”Play”. It is essentially a MPK Mini mk2 with onboard sounds but with less knobs. Search for ”MPK Mini Play vs Mini mk2” for more info.
Are these like all the stock sound options that come preloaded on the mpk mini?? Jw cuz im looking into getting one or should I say, kinda testing to see if I need one..
I noticed that on every keyboard that has 128 sounds the last ones are always the same. seashore, bird tweet, phone, heli and gunshot always at 128th. My Yamaha keyboard has it arranged the same way. Is there a reason for it? Or it's just that manufacturers agreed to put them in some order to not cause confusion?
@@dandypoe No worries. Worth noting also that there are some slightly different version models of the MPK mini play out there - mine has built in sounds but there's a simliar version that doesn't, and only uses midi - so could have different sockets also.
Hi! I want to know if there's someway to use the internal sounds from the mpk to a DAW. I use FL studio and I'd like use this sounds in it. I've been searching for months but are not tutorials or videos for this. Thanks.
Bought one and the keys are absolutely horrible. Cheap, spongy feeling. I get it that this Akai MPK25 is inexpensive but the keys feel much cheaper than they should even at the low price point.
You can connect it to a computer via usb, and there is a software editor available for it. You can edit the sounds that are in the module. The keyboard will produce sounds on its own without connection to a computer. Not all models in this range have their own sounds, but this one does.
@@HowardJFoster thanks. So i can edit sounds that came with it internally but I can not add new sounds into memory bank so they can be played without the unit staying connected to pc?
