Watch the video where Jim tracks down the leader of one of these scams. The owner is making all the money, the people who work the phones get $300-600 a month depending on how many people they scam in a month, which is double or triple the average wage in India but just a fraction of what the scam's owner takes in.
Hey Jim, hope this reaches you (your email button doesn't show one on UA-cam). Today I woke up hearing my somewhat elderly upstairs neighbor saying she was suspicious of someone on the phone, she said she had never had Amazon call her about a refund before. Then I heard the magic words "Okay, what do you want me to do" and her walking over to her computer. I rocketed up out of bed, threw on some rags with my mask, and looking ridiculous I knocked on her door. She answered and I told her it was a scam. She immediately hung up and I told her to check out your channel. I only recognized the scam so instantly because of your excellent coverage! She said she had gotten hacked before for an Amazon purchase, so clearly her data is being passed around the call centers as she is probably prone to falling victim. Just wanted to thank you, your work is helping people who have never even heard of you by simple education.
@@sicariusleif1992 You should go talk to her as her computer probably has a remote login software installed on it so they could scam her in all sorts of other ways. If she trusts you maybe ask her to let you look at her computer and see if the software is installed and uninstall it for her?
