In terms of understanding the essay, this is the most effective lecture for me. I couldn't find any better article, video or lecture on this topic anywhere else. Me along with my friends are very grateful to you , Sir. Hope you'll continue your lectures on others topics too. Thanks a lot and a huge respect...
OMG😮 Trying to write an essay for my class, and have a huge problems with putting thoughts together. What a beautiful helpful video. Thank you from Ukraine😊
Hello Sir... please do consider making more videos on be it linguistics, translation theory, or comparative literature... your teaching resonates with me very well and I'm sure with others too....This video was very helpful to me and i thank you for that
This is great. Would you consider sharing more conferences on this particular subject? Or any other subject regarding translation. It is a pleasure to understand the layers in this text.
I am a translator of Maya K'iche which is a spoken and written language. The K'iche Maya People wrote their Sacred Scriptures in the years of 1554-1558. Noble Lineages of K'iche Scribes take authorship of their writing their Divine Ancestors Ancestral Writing known as Ancient Word; Ojer Tzij...Ancestral Story...I will now go back to write my final translation after 10 or twelve full translations. Now I know how it must feel, the pace of walking steps; the echo of the bouncing ball as the original sounds. The Original K'iche Maya text is at heart impossible to translate because of its sounded out sense of the enchanted incantation of ancient sonorous word play of soul in quest of illuminating metaphor; an image that forms and shapes K'iche Maya ways of being through becoming one's ancestors language...language as formed by myth; shaped by story; sung in song to bring forth the Ancestral Soul in the Dawning Moment of the next New Sun...My translation of Popol Wuj brought me to live with the Maya of Highland Guatemala...And if I shall somehow succeed at Translating the Ancient Word Ojer Tzij of the Popol Wuj; Council Book or Book of Counsel...If I should overcome my fear before the Divine Voice of the Ancestor my life will express the collaborations of Language and Sacred Indigenous Text that will EXPRESS to the next Generations the Sacred Story that the Noble Scribes and Artist wanted us to remember by bringing them forth in the world....I want to thank you for your very wise counsel through your interpretation of Walter Benjamin; no doubt you have embidied to ensoul his thought so clearly....Thank You for the assurance that the Poetic Diction of the Popol Wuj's Mythic Language must be enveloped in the same sense of humorous and playful ornamentation of this Ancient Maya Story of Hero Twins; Story of their Mother the Moon Maiden; Changing Woman brought forth from the Curious Maiden...How do we tell the story? What words in English speak in K'iche; what plays on words form metaphors that talk to us in Mesoamerican ways?
You know what?
Your way of speaking and using simple language for critical theory make you more acceptable.
