2 Super Birds! Nice! back in the day, a guy had 2 orange ones sitting in the driveway of a motel. before, that, one used to pick up a classmate when I was in elementary school. I remember staring at that crazy thing with my mouth open.

@@TheMuscleCarModeler ohhh, I'm tellin ya! the weird part(s) is the one in elementary school was 1970 in Laredo Texas.
then, in 1979, the twin birds(one black vinyl top, the other orange, no vinyl) were in a small town 20 miles outside of Corpus Christi in a hole in the wall called Aransas Pass.
here in Corpus, a pale yellow one, attends a charity car show every year. it has a Hemi, but, with a single holley carb. I've never seen an intake, before, or, since, like it. yes, of course, I know what a Hemi looks like. I was a Mopar specialist. I built the 413 for my Bee. one of my best friends had inherited a 70 Hemi Cuda when his pops passed away. another good friend scored a super rare 65 Dodge Coronet with a 426 Wedge, 4 speed. chrome air cleaner and valve covers from the factory. it was a barn find. talk about looking like an old ladies car! it did. kind of a faded Army green body with a white, hard top. black steel wheels. he wasn't really into cars, so he never tried to get it going and eventually sold it. his brother, tho, was another of my close friends. he paid $500(in 1979) for an all original 70 Super Bee. the seats were in bad shape, but the rest of the car was great. 383 Mag, auto, bench seat, 3.23 single track, burnt orange with a white C stripe, trident hood scoop. it was fast. surprisingly fast. he still has that car. his next door neighbor had a purple 70 Super Bee, black C Stripe, trident hood scoop. then, me, around the corner from them, was my Bee. they would come by and lay a scratch in front of my house, then I would go lay a scratch all the way down the street for them. my neighbor had a 70 Chevelle SS 454, Red, black stripes, cowl induction hood. I got to drive it one time and it was awesome. like my bee, if you punched it driving down the road it smoked the tires(street tires) and spun until you let off. another friend had a car that I got to drive pretty often was a 69 RS, SS Z28, black w/silver stripes, 302, 4 speed. unbelievable power from that 302. more tire destruction. he left it at my house because he couldn't tell his parents he bought it, lol. I don't think there was a better time to be 20 years old in 1982, when they practically gave away all of these cars. I(we), really lucked out. oh, and the brothers had a swimming pool. omg.

@@TheMuscleCarModeler Hey Raoul a fast question for ya'.....when you attach the body of the cat to the chassis, do you glue it or just place it on? I assume you glue it for the simple reason when you pick up your models in the videos, they never seem to shift. I prefer gluing them so they stay in place.....I just wanted your thoughts on that, thanks my man.
Yes, I usually glue them.
Good trip down memory lane, none of my builds from when I was younger survived, but, I have been collecting quite a few of the older releases of the kits from my youth to build again. Cheers
So have I. Some are real simple kits but the memories!!
I have the same kit that I built 25 years ago. It's still in my display case. One of my first kits I built while getting back into the hobby. I've come a long way since that kit LOL. TCWAGS 👍😎
I have come along way as well. It's fun to compare them. I have a few older ones that I will also share. Wish I still had some of my first ones. they were so bad but I was so proud of them at the time!!

I have plans to build the first car I built when I got back in building again just to see how much I have learned since I have been building again.

The Muscle Car Modeler if I remember correctly there wasn’t chrome on it but I spent 2 days scraping plastic out of the microwave lol most of my old builds didn’t make it past Fourth of July lol💥💥🔥🔥
Lol yeah we used to stick fire cracker in then and blowing then up lol now as an adult I be insane for doing that lol
I did that to a few. A few others were shot with BB guns and one was melted in the oven!
I used to take the Dukes of Hazzard car and take out the engine put a smoke bomb under the hood and tape bottle rockets to it.
I built a Testors Pantera that was a motorized kit. I put a model rocket engine in it and launched it down the street! It hit the curb and flew into the palm trees! When that engine hit the backfire mode (meant to open the chute), it ignited the paper towels I put in the interior and melted it down!!
The Muscle Car Modeler awesome! When we were kids we didn't think about how valuable some models might be.
Before spraying the body, should I glue the nose cone on first?
I prefer to glue it on first but you can do it either way.
Monogram also put out a kit for Richard Petty.
Yes but it was this stock kit with just the decals. No race parts.
They both look great !, I've got one build left from about 22 years ago an AMT 55 Nomad gasser.
These 1/24 Monogram muscle car kits were always really nice, never did get a Superbird though. I do have an original Johan kit but I'm not sure how accurate that one is compared to the monogram.
This is a really good kit. All the older Monogram kits built really easily and look nice when done. Just a little big at 1:24th.
Its crazy to think that when they were new the Daytona and super bird did not sell too well some dealerships took some and converted the back to regular chargers / roadrunner to be able to sell them now the price on them are astronomical lol

I bought the revell streetburner kit of this car. Loved the build. Except one major thing missing. The superbird decals!!! Then called revell and found they don't come with them. What? It's a superbird! Couldn't believe it. Does anyone know why? I've seen other ones that come with them. But this kit don't. Is it a copyright problem?
Daniel Miller yes. Some of the older issues had them and others do not. It’s all licensing. The Roadrunner bird is licensed through Warner Brothers.
I got my decals from Keith Marks for this one.
When you painted the car did you put the wing on before or after paint?
That I don’t remember.

30+ years. I think I built this one in 1988!
Does the kit have wherks that roll ?
Yes, they can roll.
Are the front wherls just on some hubs that rotate or does it have a metal axle in the front,ty

Not for sale and no metal axles on the monogram kit.

Yes.
Your superbird are nice but your outside mirrors should be next to vent post and your sail molding is black on quarter panels that keep the top side in pices place look at a real one check it out see for your self
