Every city has his blemishes as well as bright spots. We're nowhere near done but every day, my city inches closer to restoring the city to a place that not only looks great downtown, but all of the city. Yes, there is a lot of work to do to get there.
The city of Detroit has razed thousands of these old derelict houses and buildings over the past few years. Their goal is to raze all of them, but that's going to take probably 20+ years.
To those that don't know, "Razed" means; completely destroy (a building, town, or other settlement): "villages were razed to the ground" You're welcome.
All I see is jobs, housing for homeless families, and opportunity. How can your state government, and federal government invest in it's people is the question?
As I have said many times before the downtown area is a gem! BUT the inner city neighborhoods have been neglected for many decades, those neighborhoods are a disaster with decaying homes, and violent crime on those citizens without a voice!Multiple random freeway shootings, poverty and despair!

The Mayor and the City Council are not doing enough to increase the houses, so that people have access to purchasing a home, know that as you tear down old dilapidated houses, you create a program with HUD, to build new homes so that homelessness is decreased by at 40%, more importantly if home ownership increases, so do the finances for the City of Detroit, by way of home owners paying property taxes. Some please let the Mayor and the City Council know this!!!!
