  • Almost Heaven, West Virginia are the iconic words from John Denver's Song "Country Roads". Undoubtedly, he was thinking about the Grist Mill at Babcock State Park when writing this song. This little slice of Heaven shows why West Virginia is Wild and Wonderful. Roughly a 20 minute drive from The New River Gorge Bridge and the New River Gorge National Park, this gem of a State Park is a must see. Said to be one of the most photographed places in the world, the Grist Mill is set along a beautiful boulder strewn creek. This is an easy and must do hike when visiting this area of West Virginia.
