I love Shandong and still remember when it first opened and was one of the first northern Chinese eateries in Oakland Chinatown. I used to work in Oakland Chinatown for many years. Fyi, Shandong is pronounced "shan-doong". I like the homemade dumplings and noodles. Vien Huong is an old time favorite too, with lines out the door. It is Chaozhou-Vietnamese style noodle/rice dishes. My faves were the Chaozhou chow mein, satay pork ribs with ho fun and fish cakes.
@@LifeOfBD Do that BD. Chaozhou or Teochew are the same (different spelling) and have had a long history in Southeast Asian culture, history, politics, food, etc. since the 1800s in VN, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, etc.
On one of my many aerial cruises above the Oakland skyline with Ricky Valentine, I was unfortunately forced to hurl a cannister of incendiary fumes into Chinatown due to a weight imbalance. I tried to find the damn thing, but I got cornered by a crew of ancient Cantonese masters who surrounded me and chanted "one of us, one of us". I never did find my fume cannister. I absolutely love love love grabbing noodles at Spices 3, slurping down bobes at T4, and scarfing dumplings at Ming's, but I just know in my heart that one of these days the whole place is gonna blow, and it's all my fault.
Lol that roll eye on "protest"😂 it boarded up because of vandals that wasn't apart of the protest. Spice 3 is my spot! Can go chinatown without getting VH. And I also love Gum Kuo, yung kee, new gold medal, shooting star, saint anna and peonys
