Cobra Kai is an American martial arts comedy-drama streaming television series and a sequel to the Karate Kid's original movie directed by Robert Mark Kamen. The series was created by Josh Heeld, John Harwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, who repeated their roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence in the 1984 movie The Karate Kid. Thirty-four years later, the Cobra Kai examines the story of "Miyagi Verse" from Johnny's point of view, his decision to reopen the Cobra Kai Karate Dojo, and the resurgence of his old competition with Daniel. The Cobra Kai also plays Xolo Mariduena, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Dechenzo, Martin Kove, Vanessa Rubio and Peyton List. This series boasts high ratings on both UA-cam and Netflix and has received widespread positive reviews from critics. The third season was also nominated for an "Outstanding Comedy Series" at the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards. The first season started on UA-cam Red in 2018 and the second season continued in 2019. After the production of the third season was completed, UA-cam decided to stop producing the original scripted show and leave the show without a house. Netflix acquired the series in June 2020 and released the third season on January 1, 2021. Netflix expanded the series to the fourth season, released on December 31, 2021. The fourth season of the Cobra Kai was released on Netflix on December 31, 2021 and consists of 10 episodes. This series is a direct sequel to the four original films of The Karate Kid franchise, focusing on the characters of Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, more than 30 years after the original film. Following the first two seasons on UA-cam, Netflix will release the second season. There are 12 protagonists in the season, nine of which are back from the previous season, two are added to the main cast after being repeated in the previous season, and one is a newcomer to the series that repeats the role from the franchise. Miguel is the neighbor of former karate champion Johnny Lawrence, who convinces Johnny to train him. Miguel helps him to reopen and establish a student base at Cobra Kai Dojo, though he quickly falls into the Cobra Kai mentality of "no mercy". As his attitude shifts, his relationship with Samantha LaRusso falls apart, leading to a dangerous rivalry of his own with Johnny's estranged son, Robby Keene. Their rivalry reaches a boiling point, resulting in Miguel suffering a spinal injury, after getting sent over a balcony and hitting the stairs. When he does awaken from his coma, he is ready to rebuild his life in a healthier mindset. Johnny Lawrence is the secondary antagonist of The Karate Kid, where he ultimately became Daniel LaRusso's first nemesis, and one of the main protagonists in the Cobra Kai television series. He was once the troubled rich kid of the Valley who started a feud with the new kid Daniel LaRusso, which went on for over thirty-years. His vicious training in martial arts by John Kreese made him a formidable opponent, and he was the top student at the Cobra Kai dojo. After losing the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, Johnny's life turned upside down and remained that way into his adulthood, and he became the estranged father of Robby Keene. In an attempt to reclaim his life, Johnny reopens Cobra Kai Dojo and becomes a sensei to an entirely new generation of students. Johnny lost Cobra Kai to Kreese, which inspired him to open a new dojo, Eagle Fang Karate. When Kreese declared war on Eagle Fang and Miyagi-Do, Johnny was forced to make an alliance with Daniel to dismantle his former Sensei once and for all. As he struggled to earn Daniel's respect, Johnny searched for a way to establish his aggressive style of karate as legitimate. Meanwhile, he tried to sort out his personal struggles with his history of dysfunctional relationships, successfully making a new start with Carmen Diaz and repairing a fractured relationship with Miguel. After losing the 2019 All Valley, Johnny put the dojo behind him and focused on fixing his relationship with Robby. After learning he's an expectant father with Carmen, he decided to end the rivalry between Miguel and Robby so there would be peace before the child was born. He is pulled back into the dojo war when Silver badly beats Daniel during a parlay. He aligned with Daniel, Chozen, and reconvened his Eagle Fang students. Together, they faced-off against Silver, who was at his strongest.
