The cinematography in this video was beautiful! Loved the shots of the bugs on the grass and the overhead views of the villages. These videos are not only entertaining and educational but super creative and professional!
They’re called pepes (pronounced as pèpès) here in Indonesia. Instead of using corn husks to wrap the filling like you would with tamales, we use banana leaves. Pepes is usually stuffed with fishcakes (most commonly catfish, carp, bandeng, mackerel or tuna) or in this particular case with coconut meat. Pepes is generally a lot spicier than tamales and you can immediately taste the smokiness of the charred banana leaf wrapping in the filling as pepes is usually grilled on top of coconut shell charcoal.
