Noice, I really wish I had Twitter lol.
No tik tok here. Sorry, not sorry, not even for you MDJ!
I follow you on there and it makes me happy.
Can you talk about how you would deal with women with tokophobia or ptsd following delivery? I don’t think it’s talked about enough...
At 10:10 you said prolactin is secreted by the pineal gland. Did you mean pituitary or did they not teach me smth??
"now baby hand is.. PERFECT" yaaaas queen, you are.

She’s like “I’m not gonna show you my feet...” but what she means is “I’m not gonna show you my feet because y’all are freaks and Momma Doctor Jones don’t roll like that.”
Never show your feet on the internet
Limeila wise advice.
Lol. I forget there are people with a foot fetish. I would have never thought this as a possible reason anyone wouldn't want to share their feet online.
I just wanted to see it because I like to know and see medical differences, nothing creepy, just pure curiosity. But hey, if someone doesn't want tor share it's their choice and right, I'll probably find some other person with a similar if not same difference
Only show your feet on social media if you’re getting paid for it
I love that you use the term “limb differences” instead of deformity.
Indeed. I had never heard of the term but I am definitely gonna implement that one into my language.
It's just the euphemism treadmill. If 'limb differences' catches on, in 40 years it'll be seen as vaguely offensive (not even necessarily to those affected) and/or colloquial, then we'll need another term, then 40 years later another...etc., on and on until the point at which either medicine is able to fix all these types of issues, or it becomes irrelevant because our minds are uploaded. Slurs are a problem and should be combatted, but I think people like MDJ sometimes use new language just to err on the side of 'I'll be as sensitive as humanly possible!'...which leads to an exhausting and polarising state for society and language to constantly be in, as people get caught up in endless terminology arguments which don't ultimately matter _that_ much.
@@merrymachiavelli2041 maybe. It's definitely happened in other contexts before. But I will say that right now, as someone with a limb difference who has never heard the term before it made me feel way better. I'll take someone erring on the side of caution over someone going "hey what a fucked up hand" any day. In the end, I care more about someone's attitude and willingness to learn than what words they're already educated about using. That goes for all my identities, disability, queerness, etc
Merry Machiavelli It’s not a new term - I was born without my left hand, and am in my 20s, and the term has been used at least throughout my whole life :)
@@merrymachiavelli2041 ‘doesn’t matter that much’ to YOU. how insensitive and pompous to say shit like this. constantly updating and renewing language is a sign of progress not just a ‘polarising state for society to be in’.
Well, I'm a virgin and I'm 26. And my gynecologist totally judged me. He was like: "why? what are you waiting for? it doesn't happen. women at your age are having sex". He made me feel like a freak.
That's messed up. Get a new dr
bullshit. i’m so sorry and you are most definitely not a freak.
WTH 🤬
Got judged by an ultrasound tech for being a virgin at 20 most embarassing and aggravating experience I've had with a medical professional... Also means they didn't take an internal ultrasound to get a better look at my tilted uterus despite my extremely irregular and painful periods that have been painful and irregular for almost 10 years now
@@ashrowan2143 Was the ultrasound not done by their choice or yours? If the tech was the one who refused and you want it done, talk to your doctor and ask them to tell the ultrasound department that you're coming back to have the procedure. Being a virgin is *not* a contraindication for transvaginal ultrasound, they just avoid it because it's more painful. However, most people would say that a lifetime of severe periods is worse than a painful procedure lasting less than an hour. If you discover it's too painful to bear, you can just tell them to stop. Also, if you've ever used a dildo equal to the size of an average penis, then in this context regarding a transvaginal ultrasound that's equivalent to not being a virgin. (In a normal context they are not the same thing!) If you haven't you can still get the procedure done, but if you have then that makes it easier and completely eliminates any issues that an ignorant tech could claim.
You can also request a different ultrasound tech and I would file a complaint against that person. If you remember the name or a description of the tech you encountered before, call ahead and ask if they're working on the day you're planning to go. If they are then obviously pick a different day. If the hospital won't give out that info, tell them you had a bad experience and don't want to see that person again. Ask them to arrange for you to be seen by someone else and get that person's name. Ask for them by name when you arrive. If the waiting room receptionist didn't get the memo and tries to make you see the previous tech, don't go along with it, just tell them you'll wait until the other tech isn't busy.
Stand up for yourself. Patients have much more power than some healthcare professionals want us to believe.
I learned from this video that I do not like the word “slit.” 😂😂
ikr??! i think bc it's also a verb that definitely should not be associated with the vagina in any context lol
It just seems very aggressive. Idk like a cut or slice from a knife or something
Yeah, I dislike both sausage and slit when used in that context.
who even made that word?
that just....
it makes me uncomfortable.
It's a weird word (like moist) and my true crime obsessed self associates it with murder. Feels like it should never be used in the context of a vagina.
"If you have to explain the joke, then it's not funny anymore" As someone who misses the joke a lot of the time because I'm just the super-socially-inept turtle, a lot of jokes become much funnier after being explained for me, unless they were bad jokes to begin with.
I follow a twitter page called 'explainer of jokes' because I find the concept absolutely hilarious to me. It's like dry humour. I love it!

I didn’t get that one at first so had to rewatch it to get it, so was also helped by the explanation!

Nothing would make me happier when I'm on my period in absurd amounts of pain than pulling out a dinosaur tampon. It may not actual help anything but actually it would help everything.

Lmao! Was she mad?
My brother did this but was delighted to discover fifty “mouses” instead.

That story about the hysterectomy was absolutely horrifying oh my god
After the med side of youtube I'm afraid of everything
The risk of post-operative wound infection or sepsis is not usually related to the type of surgery. Other factors (both health and lifestyle related, and environmental) are more common causes. I had a brief look through some health databases I have access to, to find if there was any researched evidence for gynaecological surgery having more risks of sepsis than other surgery. I could find no such evidence. The risk of sepsis after hysterectomy is no higher than other surgical specialties. (If MDJ has more info on this please do inform us!!) The vast majority of people who have hysterectomies recover uneventfully. Things that can raise your chance of post-operative wound infection or sepsis are: smoking, obesity, poorly controlled diabetes, poor hygiene or nutrition, immune deficiencies, preexisting infection, or contamination of the sterile field in surgery (rare). Having said this, the cause of sepsis is sometimes very obscure as may well be the case for this lovely lady. All kudos to her for sharing.
Yeah, personally I just feel that with tying the tubes and hysterectomy it isn't for everyone. The risks with a man getting vasectomy is much lower on the other hand
She’s doing great though!
No kidding. I hope she sued the actual HELL out of that hospital.

@@divyanshimishra7915 I thought this was from a comment where my reply was just caught somewhere in the thread???? WHEN DID THIS BLOW UP OMG
Went to a new gyno last week. I hadn't been in quite a few years. 7 to be exact, but it was time to have my IUD changed out. I have been raped twice and was molested as a child, so you can imagine how triggering these visits can be. I was up front with my doctor and let her know what my triggers were. She was very kind, understanding and patient. I still had a panic attack, but I was treated with such tenderness and care.
When I was 17 I went to my gyno office because I hadn't had a period in 5 months, and I knew I wasn't pregnant because I was a virgin. I was so anxious about the possibility of having to do a pelvic exam that I threw up in the exam room... My nurse practitioner was really cool about it and even got me some orange juice from the staff fridge to make sure my blood sugar didn't drop. We did some blood tests and it turned out I was just not ovulating, I was given some meds to get my uterus to push out the the blood and lining that had built up over those months (that SUCKED),b then was put on birth control as well after that to keep ovulation regular to avoid that ever happening again.
Vagina nurses and doctors are the best.

The tiktok about doctors not judging had me thinking.... would you ever do a video about how to know when you have a bad, unethical, or judgemental doctor?
Ooh this is a great idea! I'd also love info about how to switch doctor and what important information you should tell a new doctor to go with that idea:)
Yes!! I want this video
One of the signs is that they do not want answe any questions or provide information regarding your diagnosis or lie about test results. That's why I changed my doctor few years ago.
@@nikoletahanakova8573 wow that’s terrible, and honestly really scary! Glad you could find a new one
Yes, please.
Funny story: my first ever pap was being done and my obgyn had to use the smallest speculum. When I’m super nervous, I laugh. So, she’s starting the pap and I clench my inner muscles and start laughing...and I hit her in the face with the speculum. I felt so bad, I cried for the next 30 minutes as she tried to finish my pap. She was there for the confirmation of all 4 pregnancies and both live births’. I miss her so much. I moved to a new state last April, and she retired. Hands down, best obgyn ever!
My obgyn for my first pap literally asked for ‘the pediatric speculum’ in front of me. I was so freaking embarrassed lol. I haven’t been back to her since.
@@hopefullyginger2065 Why is that embarrassing? I would definitely want a smaller one. My doctor told me that's what they use for people who are nervous about the pain
@@hopefullyginger2065 ok you're being a bit of a baby for that one. Yeesh.
My first pap smear she had to use the smallest and talked me through it. My last pap smear was done by someone else and she rammed a huge speculum up there and was so rough and I screamed.
She said, "You're not a virgin, whats the matter?"
@@victoriaphillips9296 that's horrific
I had an OBGYN ask me, " I see you had a pregnancy, when did you terminate?" I had a miscarriage but she made it sound as if I had had an abortion. I felt so uncomfortable (it was still a fresh loss) and I never went back to her again
Wow. What an insensitive jerk.
So sorry! Did she not read your paper work?
I get the iffy terminology she used and of course she should have been more sensitive but the term “spontaneous abortion” is technically medically accurate and the pregnancy was terminated just not medically.
Though, again, I’d like to stress that referring to your loss as such was definitely insensitive, especially being so close to the event, but I don’t think (or at least hope) it came down to ignoring your chart and was probably just bad bedside manner or she was trying to use more “technical” language in hopes that the conversation would be less emotional for you. Though regardless, if someone makes you feel uncomfortable you have every right to look for an alternative care practitioner.
Victoria Christina in her position she needs to be human and relic medical terminology is not going to make it any easier maybe make it worse as it did! She was in the wrong no if’s ands or buts about it!! Don’t sugar coat!😠😡🤬
Maybe, an email explaining what happened could help. If you don't feel do it by yourself find and association that are concerned with these issues. I'm sorry for what happened to you, wishing you a good life. 💜
Cameo award goes to MDJ's little one. So determined to get that snack.

Someone in the TikTok comments called it a forbidden cheese stick and now I think that every time I see a tampon. So if you ever come across a crazy lady laughing at a tampon, it’s probably me.
@@TiffanyAllen1784 well now I'm gonna be that crazy lady too lol
@@graciethebelle Happy I could help. 😉
As a PreK teacher, I’ve learned that children will trust 90% of the things you say until it comes to an opaque box that they believe contains a toy or snack that they want.
Speaking of the first tiktok i had a friend in elementary school missing her right forarm. Would have loved for the teacher to explain she was not an alien. We were 6yo
Adults feel like they have to make children ignore differences because that’s what adults do. But like if you just explain why the person is different then the curiosity will go away and the difference becomes easier to accept. 😂
A close friend of mine in college was missing two and a half fingers from her right hand due to a birth defect. Fun fact: she was right-handed despite the defect.
It would have been important to have the permission of that child or their parent, the teacher could have mentioned that everyone is different and taught respect and general life skills with that though. *future teacher here lol teachers can get in trouble for a lot of things even when you think it’s helpful to students.
@@hollyehelms1115 My friend's child is being bullied at school, he's got an ADHD and ASD diagnosis. They've tried desperately to get the class to be informed and have things explained so they stop stealing his fidgets and stim toys because they're jealous but the teachers never explain to the other children. Both him and their neighbour's child (same class) have confirmed it's never been explained.
As a former educator, there are plenty of ways to be inclusive without exposing children's individual exceptionalities
@@BeingLolaStar you’re right, there are. That’s basically what I was getting at with my comment. It’s sad that the teacher hasn’t spoken to the class, and it’s unfair for the child being taken advantage of. In her comment she said to explain that the child was not an “alien” and you can’t single out children. You can teach inclusivity but not over a single child in the classroom, that could potentially make things worse for that child. They can be ruthless!
I just love how all toddlers are obsessed with snacks! LOL
It’s not just toddlers. 😂 I think the majority of the human race is obsessed with snacking. 😆 But yes, toddlers being obsessed with them is ADORABLE (whereas an adult isn’t 😂😳).
If I've learned anything from the internet it's that cats and toddlers are basically the same.
Hilarious. I remember my younger brother found wrapped condoms in a hotel drawer and started chomping on them thinking they were sweets. My mom had a huge panic until she saw that he'd unwrapped them himself 🤣
Apparently i'm a toddler now🤷🏽♀️😅
Gotta do a bait n switch! Get a high value snack, wave in front of human, they give up your wanted item and take high value snack!...so far has worked on one of my sisters, my two kids, my husband and my border collie!
The quadruplet video made me think back to when my mom was pregnant with her second set of triplets. The first doctor said there was one, maybe two, possibly three. My mom called another doctor to find out for sure. Luckily my dad handled the second triplet pregnancy better than the first. Apparently the nurses thought he was going to pass out and he just kept mumbling "We need a bigger van." 😂
Sweet baby rays I think I would die
Most of the OB/GYNs in my small Ohio city work at a practice that advertises itself as "faith-based" and "pro-life" and before I knew that I went to see a doctor there who literally just stopped in her tracks and stared at me with a horrified look on her face when I said that I don't want to have kids. Definitely felt judged. Had to go to another city nearby to find a non-judgy OB/GYN.
Ooooof. I was trying to find a primary care in a medium sized city a few years back, only found one in my network who was taking new patients. Got there and figured out why she had openings-- she was super catholic and anti-birth control, telling me as a young 20-something that birth control has terrible effects, causes spontaneous abortions all the time, and that I should try the rhythm method instead. 🤦♀️🙅♀️ She didn't even ask why I take birth control! Debilitating periods run in my family, so it saves me from a week every month of heavy bleeding, cramps, nausea, and bed rest (plus cystic acne relief). The "no birth" part is basically just a bonus.
@@rinabobina9905She is straight up lying to her patients and giving them advice that could ruin their lives! She should lose her license. That is horrifying. I wonder how she'd feel if one of her patients listened, then took her life when the rythm method failed, as it almost always eventually does.

Your son doesn’t have hands or feet?
@@allisond.46 my son has hands and feet but they arent "typical". He is missing some fingers on one hand and has webbing and bone fusion on the other. Also his left foot is a clubbed foot (foot turns inward so sometimes walks on ankle) and has webbing. Most of the time its not total amputation. But it does happen.
@@bloodraven3313 thanks for answering that. :)
Another point on the "Your OBGYN will not judge," is that they have, almost certainly, experienced worse.
Lol true
Also that they look at like 20 different vaginas a day. This might sound harsh but it's meant to be comforting (it is to me): you're not that special. Any details about your anatomy may have been forgotten within five minutes after the exam ended.
my mom worked in gyn (not obstetrics, though she did work a few years for an IVF doctor), and the horror stories i've heard make me feel so much more comfortable going to the gyno. i know whatever is wrong, they've seen way worse.
my mom told me about this lady whose stomach completely covered her parts and when she got BV it started growing in the folds of her stomach too, and that's just one of the hundreds of stories i remember. trust me, whatever you're going through, they've seen much worse and won't judge you. don't be ashamed, take care of your health!! i had hpv and tried to get rid of it on my own with things like betadine cuse i was too scared to go tell the dr b/c of embarrassment. and while the betadine actually worked to get rid of the... unpleasant growths, they left some scar tissue that makes sex very painful. I wish i had just gone earlier, had it treated, and been done with it. but warts are so embarrassing, i never wanted anyone to ever know. and now i'll pay for my vanity and pride forever. go to your gyn!!! please!! if anything is wrong, don't let it get worse, they've seen it all, please keep your body healthy!
As someone who works in the medical field: Even if we see something really gross or weird or unexpected, we never really judge. We work in the field for a reason and usually things like that impress us and make the patient even more interesting. There's almost nothing that we'll judge you for (most of us, anyway).
Nope, they still judge you and give you insecurities. It depends on the person i guess. Im not lucky with my free family doctor
My husband just referred to the speculum as the vaginal shoehorn and I AM DEAD!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣☠👻
Oh my God he sounds like my husband 🤣
I want that to be the official term I much prefer it lol
I've been using "cervical pliers", but I am definitely switching to this 🤣
Girll, I'm sat near a window and laughed so hard at this that people are now staring at me weird!
I've always called it the duck cause it looks like a long duck bill lol
I've had doctors and nurses hardcore judge me for experiencing so much pain and getting upset during a pap smear. Zero empathy or sympathy from most of them. Some of them told me to stop being dramatic, don't be a baby, just calm down, it isn't that bad, you'll be fine, it's "only" a few minutes, and the nurse even rolled her eyes at me when I started crying during my first exam. I experience severe pain with penetration along with being transgender and having body dysphoria, so having someone shove something up my vagina causes a lot of psychological pain in addition to the physical pain, and having to sit in that position with someone staring at me makes it even harder. Being treated so callously in the midst of what is already a horrific experience has been traumatizing and made me avoid getting exams. I also once had a doctor who kept going after I said "wait."
Sir, you need a new gyno.
I've had the same experience because I'm a drug addict but the pap smear hurt so unbelievably bad I was on the verge of tears and she got visibly irritated and told me it doesn't hurt and that she wasn't gunna give me anything so I needed to stop? I wasn't expecting anything besides her to be more gentle she was so rough and rude about it all it was so unnecessary and I'm a very polite pushover so I just shut up and took it because she made me feel like I deserved the pain.. it's sad how normal this us
I'm so sorry that's happened to you. First time I had a pap smear I also experienced a crazy amount of pain (as a woman who's only had non-penetrative sex with other women before, it was the first time I realized that there was probably something medically wrong that was hindering penetration for me). Thankfully I had a kind obgyn who switched to a "pediatric speculum" (i.e. a small baby one, which might be an option you could request in the future, idk). But even then I remember feeling kinda violated and psychologically weird all day, and that was with a good doctor. I can only imagine how awful it would be with insensitive healthcare (so-called) professionals. I hope you're able to find a better doctor, perhaps one who has training in LGBTQ+ issues (and just all around isn't an asshole)
You can request the "virgin speculum" it is a smaller one. Might be harder for the doctor to use. Also, if you have vulvodynia or vaginismus, you should tell it before they take the smear. If they respect you they will keep that in mind. If not you should try to find someone else if possible.
@@MissMoontree I did both of those things

Odd question: What happens to the remaining tissue (i.e. finger or toe) if auto amputation occurs in the womb? Is it somehow absorbed?
It typically happens so early that it is broken down and goes away.
@Candii Cubana My guess is that no, the fetus would not survive and a D&C would be necessary to remove all the fetal tissue. But I'm not a doctor, so that's only a guess.

Bad Gyns are rare, but they definitely exist. My original gynecologist brushed me off and didn't believe me when I told her about being violently sexually assaulted. Would love to have you as my doctor though!
I also have syndactyly between some toes, and if I had collected a $1 every time someone asked if I was a faster swimmer, I'd be rolling in it by now. Just an average speed swimmer over here, swimming averagely
A friend has syndactyly on each limb. He competes on our university swim team xD
Same here! The second and third toes on both feet have simple partial. My mom has it to a lesser degree and great grandma had it too. My mom and I also had the same skin condition on our feet when we were younger, not sure if there is a name but basically the skin on my toes/most the bottom of my feet didn't come off the way it's supposed to when you replace skin cells, so I would get big scales building up and the living skin was really thin. I used to get deep cracks in the dead layers all the way to the living ones. Hurt like hell and I had to superglue the cracks (also painful) so the skin could heal. I had to put stuff on my toes every night and wear socks to try and soften the dead skin so I could remove it. My mom had the same thing, though it was less severe and she outgrew it faster. I still have a few tiny bits but they no longer cause problems. I also have geographic tongue. The doctor's office I went to when I was little loved having students look at me and even now my dentist will sometimes ask if they can show another person at the practice my tongue.
Both of my pinkie toes are webbed to the toe next to them. I love swimming but I'm no better than anyone else.

It just sucks and I've never been to an obgyn
I don't know if this would work or be easier for you some family medicine doctors do routine gyn care.
I hope the professionals would push their personal beliefs to the side to provide you good medical care. Some men have uteruses, and while I don’t have much faith in southern conservative doctors believing that, they should at least treat you with respect. That’s our job as medical professionals.

I started lactating/leaking from one breast when I was 12, after being on the birth control pill. I had to get a mammogram to rule out cancer, and it turned out to be a clogged duct. Changing to a different birth control made it stop for the most part, but it still occasionally happens (like a drop or two) whenever I hear a baby crying. I’ve never been pregnant.
That must have been terrifying! I’m glad it’s better now ❤
I had a tubal at 22, haven't been pregnant in 33 years and am perimenopausal.
I still leak on occasion.
Something very similar happened to me, but I was 14 at the time. It was scary, and I remember crying so much in my mom's arms when it happened. I think it would've been scary if there was a possibility of me being pregnant, yes, but the fact that there wasn't somehow terrified me even more, because what could be happening?
Thankfully we were able to see a doctor a couple days after the leaking began, and they explained it was due to the pills I was on at the time (to treat another issue).
Changing the pills solved the problem and I never had to worry about it since, something I'm glad for, because it was so uncomfortable. I hope you find a way for it to never happen to you again too.
It happened to me at around 20-21 years old. It was a very small amount of milk, no other concerning symptoms. I saw my GP to be evaluated immediately. He did a breast exam and some labs. Thankfully, none of the big scary things one worries about were the cause. Never got answers of a definitive cause... Most likely a side-effect of medication, though it's never happened before or since so who knows.
Surprisingly, several drugs (prescription and illicit drugs) are known to have lactation as a potential side-effect. Always a good idea to have a chat with your pharmacist if you experience abnormal lactation and are taking any prescription drugs. And talk with your doctor too of course.
I relate so much to that last one. I went to the OBGYN at 16 and she was running some tests and put a speculum in but then I sneezed and it shot back out and my OBGYN started laughing, apologized for laughing, continued laughing, and said: "You have strong walls". IT was the most mortifying, hilarious moment ever

Love the advocacy of limb differences! My niece was born with a limb difference affecting her left hand and advocates for awareness of limb differences.
My daughter (now in her 40s) was born with syndactyly on both hands: ring finger attached to the pinkies. It took three surgeries before she was 2 to correct the condition. Both of my pinkies are crooked ( but naturally separate) due to a gene on my father's side of the family, and I often wonder whether my daughter's syndactyly and my "deformed" pinkies are connected.
I’m really interested to maybe hear any advice you have on going to the gynecologist after going through sexual trauma.... how to prepare, what you can say to your doctor, stuff like that.
yeah I'd be interested too. I've never been, and recently I've been questioning if I was sexually abused as a child (I know i was assaulted as a teen, but I've got memories of that, none of the former) because I've always been uncomfortable with the idea of someone touching there.
I went to the gynecologist after experiencing trauma. I'd be happy to give you advice/answer questions if you like
Women's bodies should NEVER be controversial. I hate that women's control over their own bodies is something that needs to be argued and fought over. Don't remember the last time a man's control over his own body for things that where unique to the male body where called into question.
Edit: There is no way for you to spin it. You can say it's not about the woman but at the end of the day she is the one who will have to go through the pregnancy and give birth so yes it IS about her and her body. Being pregnant and giving a birth are no walks in the park, they are life altering and even life threatening. I will choose a woman's life over a fetus any day because forced pregnancy is a violation of a woman's body.
Why are you making this into a man vs women thing I’m a man I think women should do what ever they want to there body
@The Final Rumbling It's a fetus. Not the same as a grown woman.
@The Final Rumbling Plants and animals are also living things but you wouldn’t starve yourself to spare them. Also the human body produces countless reproductive cells and each of them has the possibility to become a person, but the planet’s limited ressources prevent them from getting a chance of all becoming full fledged humans so even if we find a way to fertilize all of them, there’s going to be losses.
That fetus is just like them. Whoever got pregnant didn’t have the financial or social ressources they needed in order to raise a child so they had to miss out on that opportunity to turn those cells into a person.
The fetus doesn’t care if it lives or die, it doesn’t have feelings, emotions or any though capacity that would allow them to understand what they’re missing out on.
So forcing someone to give birth to a child just because you deem your irrational perception of a clump of reproductive cells to be superior to theirs is both cruel and deeply questionnable
@@LiliOld yes! This so hard. Thank you for breaking down pro-choice in a nutshell. A clump of cells that cannot at all live outside the host should never have “rights” that supersede a fully-grown woman’s rights. And no men should get a say beyond the man who had a part, if this was consensual intercourse, in the creation of said clump of cells. Politicians stay outta our vaginas!
@The Final Rumbling So you must be vegan based on that logic.

I had this happen to me. After labs and MRI I was diagnosed with a micro prolactinoma. All I do is take a tiny pill of Cabergoline once a week to make sure it stays small and/or shrinks. 5 years later, still doing great.
@@rachelzachary8789 i had the same diagnosis. it was so small even the MRI didn't catch it, but the labs certainly reflected it and cabergoline did the trick. i actually never showed any symptoms of a prolactinoma, which the doctor was surprised by, as i was in her office getting labs done for an entirely different problem. she didn't have an answer for me at the time so she ordered a ton of different tests and we ended up catching something else lol. the fact that i was not showing symptoms makes me wonder how long i would've lived with it, and if symptoms ever would've started. prolactinomas are super treatable and respond well to the tiniest little pill; they tend to only be fatal once it's too late to intervene.

My kid called feminine hygiene products "cookies" for like 3 solid years lol. He was not convinced.
After having extremely irregular periods for years, I went to an endocrinologist and discovered I had a prolactinoma. Normal prolactin levels should be below 30, and mine ranged from a 46-52. Took cabergoline for about 18months and just had an MRI confirm the tumor is gone. It's not as scary as it sounds because the tumor is benine and the medicine didn't interfere with life
Thank you for talking about hyperprolactinemia! Most people have no idea this is a thing and it's discoverable through a simple thorough blood panel. I have a pituitary microadenoma and after years of medication and yearly MRIs the tumor dissipated enough that I could go off the meds, which was great because I wanted to try to have a baby (it often causes period to cease if prolactin is high enough). My prolactin levels are still higher than the normal range but my cycle has been normal for years and I've had no difficulties with trying to conceive. See your doctors, people!

It has been around 5 years (that I know of) that my step-sister has been dealing with her breasts leaking, and I don't think her doctors even did the labs to find out if she has a pituitary tumor or something. She had not had any children and was on birth control when the problem first arose, but since then she has had 2 babies, so her doctors are probably even more likely to dismiss her concerns now than they were before since they could just chalk it up to issues breastfeeding and whatnot.

My oldest son was born with what they called Complex Syndactyly on his left foot. We got a lot of questions about it. I grew to love it. Hey Mama Doctor Jones, I would love it if you could react to Melanie Murphy's birth vlog :)
My doctor told me I "wasn't fat enough" to have PCOS even though I had every single symptom, imagine her shock when my bloodwork came back 🙃
I've been seeing my gyno probably going on 18 years, I started seeing him just before I got pregnant with my daughter who turns 17 on New Year's Eve. My mother thought it weird to see a man and that I should see a woman, but I love my doctor. He's always friendly and joking so you feel comfortable. I wish he had been able to attend my daughter's birth, I would have loved to have seen his reaction when my daughter's head came out and she turned around, eyes wide open, to stare at the doctor and her father. Freaked them both out, lol. Not to mention that when the doctor held her up for us to see he could barely hold her because she had her arms and legs stretched out and head thrown back, screaming her arrival to the world. When I went to my follow up with my gyno, he asked me what she had weighed because of me developing gestational diabetes. When I told him she was 6 pounds, 11 ounces and only 18 3/4 inches long, he told me I had a peanut. He also gave several options, couple of years later, when it came to light that my uterus had prolapsed. For those not aware, that's when the uterus starts to literally fall out of your body. It was discovered in the early stages because apparently I also had an elongated cervix, so that was actually starting to protrude out of my vaginal opening first. He had told me he could use a mesh to bring my uterus back up where it belongs and tighten the muscles or do a hysterectomy. With the mesh, he said there was a chance that if I ever became pregnant again that the mesh could cause death to the baby, to me, or both. My daughter's father said he didn't like the idea of the mesh since he didn't want our daughter to lose her mother, which I agreed with, so went with the hysterectomy. I was 32 when I had that done and I think it was a good choice since I then found out that I have endometriosis, which is probably what caused my uterine muscles to weaken in the first place.

Hey, I just wanted to say thank you for having this channel and being so open and willing to talk about female health. I went to my first OBGYN appointment the other day, and I have to say, the fact that I already heard about a lot of what they were discussing really helped to make it a lot easier. I will say that I got very confused, because the speculum was uncomfortable and I couldn't figure out for the life of me why people would ever want to have sex, and then had it explained to me that sex does not, in fact, feel like a pelvic exam.
If u were my oybgn I would 100 present trust you. I'm terrified to trust people.
Had my first pap about a month ago when I was setting up a primary doctor, and she kept telling me to relax, and I was trying, but I could tell that my hoohah was NOT having it. On top of that, apparently I have a very tilted cervix, so that took quite a bit of positioning on her part to get the swab done. Also, I was on my first day of my period when I had the swab done; well, it couldn't be processed because of too much blood, so I had to get another one a couple weeks later.
Once again, my vagina did not want to relax even though I was calm as I could possibly be, and the tilted cervix didn't help either (thanks, body). Thankfully, I couldn't feel a thing for some reason, so all I could feel was the speculum moving and her trying to get a good position to get a good swab. Overall, 8/10 doctor, will keep as primary. Why not 10? Well, nobody's perfect, and I was never good at flattery.
